Lovin' Feline by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

I'm at it with another Valentine's Day card.  This time I'm using the Lovin' Feline Set 4216. I just love the short legs on the cat in this set. I haven't done a shaker card in a while and I had some heart sequins so I had to combine the two.

I used a tan piece of fun foam to make the shaker layer.  It is not very thick.  After I stamped the cat image, I selectively die cut around the cat using smaller cutting plates & running it through my Vagabond a few times to cut different areas while avoid cutting the cat. I stamped Happy Valentines Day from the stamp set with a Jet Black StazOn ink pad onto a piece of window plastic.

I stamped the cat  image onto kraft paper with an Onyx Black Versafine Ink Pad. I heat set it just to be sure it was dry. Then I started to color it with very light layers of very sharp  Prismacolor colored pencils.  On this cat, I went in all on direction to make it look like hair.  I put the white just in the areas that were going to end up white.  Then I added in Cool Grey 20% over the rest of the cat.  I added in the Cool Grey 50%, 70% & 90% little by little in the darker areas while also building up the lighter colors until I got the desired colors.  I then added Carmine Red, Crimson Lake and Dark Purple to the hearts. After the image is finished, I could barely see the stamped image.  I traced it with a very sharp black colored pencil. I also added a few white highlights to the cats face.

I'm just getting started on my Valentines Day cards.  Have you started them yet?  Let me know.

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!
