Tuesday Threads with Karen Day

Happy Halloween, Ai Sewing fans!!
I have the October edition of Tuesday Threads with Karen Day to share with you today.
Two of the fabrics in the Shop Hop collection designed by Ai owner/illustrator Bonnie Krebs, are a subtly patterned bright orange, and a wonderful limey green... and given that my posting day was the 31st, I decided to make a little Halloween decor:
I've created a little pumpkin placemat/hotmat/potholder.  I'm choosing for it to be part of my Halloween decor, and if I had a bowl of candy to put out, it would be the perfect thing to set it on.  I started out by sketching out my design to make a pattern:
I drew my pumpkin shape, and added a 1/4" border as a seam allowance, and drew on my stitching lines.  I cut out two of these in the orange fabric, then cut apart the stem and cut one of it from the green fabric.  I used Therm O Web's HeatnBond Lite fusible adhesive and ironed it onto the top orange piece.  I cut a piece of Therm O Web's High Loft Fusible Fleece about the same size as the pumpkin, and fused it onto one of them.  I stitched the pumpkin pieces together with a 1/4" seam, clipped the edges and turned it inside out.  After slip stitching the bottom edge shut, I ironed the pumpkin so that the edges were flat and nicely rounded.
I cut apart my pattern along the stitching lines, and pinned it onto my pumpkin to use as a stitching guide using orange thread to indicate the grooves on the pumpkin.
I switched to green thread and zigzagged around the stem - this finished off the raw bottom edges nicely.  And there you have it!  Do you remember the mug rug that I made last month?  Just imagine how cute a small version of my pumpkin would be as a mug rug!!  Lots of possibilities...
Have a happy & safe Halloween - and happy sewing :o)

Old Bat wine tag by Diane Zechman

Hello Ai friends and happy Monday!

Today I am sharing a project using one of my favorite Ai sets- 4784- Old Bat Set.  If you like cute Halloween images, this set is a must-have!  Here I used it to make a decorative gift tag on a bottle of wine for a friend.  (Did you also see Renee's tag and wine cork pumpkin that she posted earlier?)

I am planning to surprise my friend who loves Halloween with this...she is always doing things for others so I think a little RAK is in order. :)

I started with a 2 1/4 x 7 3/4 piece of cardstock and scored it @ 2 1/4. The top corners were punched with a corner rounder after punching a 1 3/8" hole in the center.  I colored her with Copics and popped her & the sentiment on foam dimensionals. I saved the circle that was punched from the top and used it to "spotlight" the glass in her hand.

I haven't tried the wine yet, but I've heard it was good. At least it has a cute label!  lol.

Have a great Monday and… happy stamping!

Happy Stamping!

Shake, Rattle & Roll by Cheri Burry!

Hi Ai Fans!
Halloween is right around the corner and I'm sharing 2 more Halloween cards with you today! This is the super cute "Skeleton Wiggle Wobble" set! I am really loving these new Wiggle Wobble sets! They are super cute and so easy to assemble!
I started by stamping all the little image pieces and coloured them with a W1 Copic Marker! It's hard to see in the pictures but it just helps to make the skeleton look finished. Then you take the matching dies and cut out all your pieces. Now to assemble, just attach the pieces together with the Mini Brads included in the package! Pop up your image with the included Mini Action Wobble and you are finished!

Copics Used:
W1,
T5, T7, T9
YR14, YR16, YR18
