NEW VIDEO - Rustic Truck and Barn Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

It's that time again; time for another Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie uses all our WC Truck Mini Set along with our WC Tree Set 1 to create a rustic image, perfect for a masculine card! Bonnie starts by inking the truck in two markers, African Violet and Sepia, and cut a mask to cover the image after she stamps it down on watercolor paper. This gives her the ability to place the barn in the background, aligning the placement with her stamp positioner. She removes the mask and pulls the color from the lines, darkens the windows with her fine tip marker, and adds color from her palette. Bonnie then masks the barn and adds pine trees all around the image. She returns to her truck mask, but cuts the back of the truck cab and the tailgate out, so she can add the branches into the truck bed. Bonnie adds tall grasses around the tires and along with the branches, and some more browns to make the truck rustic. Back to the truck mask, Bonnie places it to use the roving fence in front of the barn. Don't forget to sign and date!

We hope you enjoy this week's rustic, masculine card. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube for the latest videos and give this video a "thumbs up" if you enjoyed it!

NEW VIDEO - Rustic Window and Fox Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday!

As we work our way through our 2018 Watercolor Releases, next on the list is our WC Window Set and WC Mini Critter Set! Watch Bonnie create a rustic window with wooden shutters and an adorable fox resting on the windowsill!

Bonnie starts by inking the window in African Violet and Sepia, pulling the color from the lines. She then uses our Stamp Positioner to get the sleepy fox into the perfect place. The fox is stamped in Sepia and color is added from the palette. Next, Bonnie masks the fox with a sticky note and adds tiny bunched flowers behind the fox and a valance in the top of the window. Next, Bonnie adds a climbing branch and vines around the right side of the window, with added tiny purple flowers. For the last step, she did a wash of color on the sides and adds a brick texture

We hope you enjoy this week's video! We love to see your creations, so don't forget to hashtag #AiStamps on Instagram or Facebook!

NEW VIDEO - Wooden Gate & Flower Pots Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a NEW Watercolor Wednesday!

This week, Bonnie transforms our Wooden Gate in to an adorable scene with overgrown flowers, decorative pots, and two sweet robins. Bonnie starts by partially inking our Wooden Gate and pulling the color out of the lines. She uses her Stamp Positoner to place our Small Containers on the ground and post of the gate, adding color to them from her Palette. Next, she adds vines, flowers, buds, and branches around the image, from the right post to the blooming pots. For a final touch, she adds two robins from our WC Bird Bath Set, singing their morning songs among the blossoms!

NEW VIDEO - Christmas Fir in Wagon Watercolor

Hi Ai Fans!

Welcome to another Winter Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie designed a Christmas Tree fresh from the forest being hauled away in a wagon! She starts by stamping our Garden Wagon in Prussian Blue and Sepia to give it a rustic, pale blue look. Next, Bonnie masks the wagon with a sticky note and adds the branched tree in African Violet and Pine Green. To give the tree its fullness, she adds the pine boughs and adds some hanging over the wagon. Bonnie brushes in some snowy shadows and sky. She then adds the holly on the sides with our branches, tiny leaves, and uses the fine tip of her Persimmon marker to add berries. To add the bird, she uses our Stamp Positioner to get him in the perfect place. For the final touches, Bonnie adds glitter to the snow with her Wink of Stella  brush marker and flecks of snow with her Signo Gel Pen. Always remember to sign and date!

We hope you enjoy this week's wintery video! Bonnie always appreciates any comments, thumbs up or subscribes over on our YouTube. We'll have one more scene next week and then take a holiday break until the New Year, but you can always watch our almost 100 Watercolor Wednesday videos on our playlist!

NEW VIDEO - Rustic Winter Scene Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday, as we kick off our Winter and Holiday series! Bonnie wows us again with a beautiful woodland scene, covered in snow, and dressed up with fir boughs! Bonnie starts by stamping the stump from our WC Rustic Container Set in the center and adding branches on either side. Bonnie draws in snow mounds around the stump's base and piled on the top. She then uses her Stamp Positioner to place a tiny birdhouse and bird above the snow mound. For the snowflakes, Bonnie adds dots of her Molotow Masking pen and fully lets it dry. She then adds the fir sprigs from our WC Foliage Set 2 New and uses the fine tip of her Persimmon pen to add berries and her Pine Green to add a holly branch in the bird's beak. She finishes the image with a wash of African Violet over the Molotow, adds details to the snowy areas, and removes the masking. Don't forget to always sign your work!

We hope you enjoy this new creation and look forward to many more wintery scenes to come!

Happy Watercolor Wednesday!

Holiday Watercolours by Karen Day

Hello Ai Watercolour fans!
I have several different cards to share today using a variety of the Ai Watercolor stamp sets.  I was so excited when the WC Fir Trees Set (Sku #4960) debuted in the summer, and was very keen to try using it for Christmas greenery. I really love the results!
I started out with my watercolour paper and Marvy markers, and used the No. 4 paintbrush that is available in the Ai store.  For the urn, I used WC Ornate Container Set (Sku #4890) and my Brownish Grey Marvy marker.  I intentionally didn't colour the top edge of the container, as I knew that I wanted the foliage to be spilling over the edge.  Using my Jungle Green Marvy marker, I inked up four of the branch stamps, stamping the lower branches first, and filling in upwards.  I left a space in the center, and inked up one of the branches from WC Branches Set (Sku #4964) with my English Red Marvy marker (these are Red Dogwood branches!!).  I then used the brush end of my Marvy marker to hand draw in the pinecones by using a dabbing motion in a pinecone shape.  I used the fine end of the marker to add some shadows to the twigs:
I used just two stamps from the set to make my wreath, and you can either draw a faint circle with a pencil to use as a guide, or do what I did, and stamp a branch on the top, bottom and on each side - forming a square shape.  Then continue stamping in between, shaping it into a circle.  I occasionally double stamped without re-inking, which gives a bit of depth to the wreath, by having some lighter toned sprigs.  I didn't fill in every white area, as that left me with spots to add in berries that I drew in directly with my red marker.  I also hand drew the bow in before there were too many sprigs around it.  I use a very light touch with my damp paintbrush, as I like to see some of the definition of the pine needles.
I was so happy with how these turned out, that I've made multiples to send as my Christmas cards.

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Three Ways to Use Fir Boughs!

Happy November! It's the first Saturday of the month, time for us to take a look at three of our favorite watercolor projects of the week for Watercolor Weekend! Our designers are getting ready for the season's change with some wintery and outdoorsy projects! All of these projects use our WC Fir Tree Set in different ways. Lets take a look!

Dot Freel - Instagram - Blog - Pinterest
I don't know about you but Christmas always sneaks up on me, so I like to start my cards early. I love the traditional red and green for my Christmas decorations. I made this card using the Art Impressions WC Series 4 Set 1 - 4097. Art Impressions Creator/Owner Bonnie Krebs has a wonderful Watercolor Wednesday tutorial on YouTube using this stamp set that you should try. I used the new 4960 - WC Fir Trees Set to make the wreath. I added the snow with my Signo uni-ball white gel pen and I added some glitter using a Sakura Gelly Roll pen that is easier to see in the close-up photo.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas with my Golden Wreath project for today’s Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend!

I used a 9”x9” piece of watercolor paper and drew a 4”x4” circle in the middle. Here’s my tip for placing a shape onto your watercolor paper – Use a template and the fine tip of your marker (in this case 72 Pine Green). Lay the template onto the watercolor paper and put a dot every so often (1/2” or so). Remove the template to reveal the shape on your watercolor paper. The best part of this technique is that the dots will be watercolored away and no one will be the wiser. I started by stamping the outside “gold boughs” from WC Fir Trees Set around the circle in VersaMark, added Gold Embossing Powder and melted with my heat gun. Next, I stamped the “green boughs” from WC Fir Trees Set in 72 Pine Green around the circle and pulled the color with my watercolor brush and water. I then stamped the inside “gold boughs” from WC Fir Trees Set using a Post It Note to cover the “green boughs” as I went along, added Gold Embossing Powder and melted with my heat gun. You can always go back and fill in any sparse areas with additional “green boughs” from WC Fir Trees Set in 72 Pine Green. I added Want 2 Scrap Self Adhesive Red Bling for the finishing detail.

I chose one of the new Art Impressions Rustic Cabins Set as my focal image on this project. I used Sepia to stamp it on Canson XL Watercolor Paper. Using my palette, I added English Red to the roof and chimney and African Violet to the windows. I used the fine tip of my Sepia to add the logs and added some additional Sepia from my palette.

I cut a mask from a post-it note and covered my cabin. I used the firs from the WC Fir Trees Set and Pine Green to create trees behind the cabin. I added trees using the WC Branches Set and Sepia. I added leaves using English Red and Orange to the trees and the ground underneath.

I added a tree on the left of the cabin using the WC Fir Trees Set with Sepia and Pine Green. I added the small grass along with some Sepia to ground the house and tree. Finally, as a finishing touch, I used Prussian Blue to add a sky above the cabin. As always, I signed and dated my work and that's it...easy peasy.

I cut the painting down to 3 3/4 x 5 and mounted it to a piece of Gina K Designs Cranberry Tart cardstock cut to 4 x 5 1/4. I mounted this to a white card base.

WOW, team! Love the different ways the fir boughs are used, from mini wreaths, larger wreaths for framing, and as background trees! This set is sure to be a staple in our wintery scenes! NEW VIDEO - Fall Wreath Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie is continuing with her wreaths for this beautiful autumn-themed wreath, adorned with pumpkins, branches and a robin in the middle. Bonnie starts by making a circle and drawing quadrants inside. She stamps the pumpkin from our WC Series 3 Set 1 in each of the sections and pulls the color from the lines. She repeats the process and adds branches, bundles, vines, and buds. Bonnie uses her beautiful Fall colors - olive green, olive brown, English red, and sepia. For the final touch, Bonnie adds a branch in the center with a tiny robin from our WC Birds Set resting on it.

We hope you enjoy this week's video! Don't forget, we love to see YOUR watercolor designs! You can post them on our Facebook page or by hashtagging #AiWatercolor on Instagram! Also, we love it when you like our videos and subscribe to our YouTube!

NEW VIDEO - Halloween Scene Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a spooky and sweet Halloween treat for Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie created a creepy cottage adorned with dry branch trees, cheerful jack-o-lanterns, and a barbed fence with spider webs. She starts by stamping the WC Cottage in the center and pulling the color from the lines and adding African Violet and Sepia from the palette for the darkened windows and doorways, plus a little ghost peeking out the top opening. From there she creates a dark sky around the cottage and stamps the WC Branches for the sparse trees. Next, she uses the Stamp Positioner to place the pumpkins from our WC Series 3 Set 1. She colors them with Terra Cotta from the palette and draws in their expressions. She also uses the positioner to place parts of the fence from our Old Barn Mini Set on either side of the pumpkins. For the final touches, Bonnie adds tiny grass around the base of the images and draws in cobwebs for the perfect Halloween effect.

We hope you enjoy this Halloween themed video! If you liked it, please give us a "thumbs up" over on YouTube and don't forget to subscribe and click the "bell" to be notified of new uploads!

NEW VIDEO - Multi-Tone Bench & Dogs Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

This. Video. Is. AMAZING! If you've watched our Watercolor Wednesday videos before, get ready for a whole new way of looking at your markers and stamps! Bonnie introduces our new WC Benches Set and WC Dogs Set in this stunning, multifaceted image. Bonnie starts by stamping the two dogs, with one masked so the sleeping pup is tucked behind. She stamps the bench using the positioner over the two masked dogs and inks the image in Prussian Blue AND Sepia. As you pull the color, you will see this beautiful, rustic blue tone for this antique bench. Next, she stamps some branches on each side of the bench in Sepia and the vine and large grass from our Foliage Set inked in African Violet AND Pine Green. She adds a darker shadow under the bench and builds some sky around the bench. For the last step she uses some bud flowers from our WC Fall Set on the sides with Sepia on the stem and African Violet on the blooms. Don't forget to sign and date!

We hope you enjoy these new ideas from Bonnie this week! If you liked this video, please hop over to YouTube to leave a comment and give it a thumbs up! Especially if you loved this new multi-tone stamping! Don't forget to share your images with us on Instagram by using the hashtag #AiWatercolor!

NEW VIDEO - Birdhouse Wreath Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new (and adorable I might add) Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie creates another stunning wreath, from the many request we received on our Flowering Birdhouse video. This video's main features are from our new WC Bird Bath Set, as Bonnie adds little robins and bird houses around her circle template, drawn with quadrants. She starts by placing the bird houses around the image and then adding a branch to add the foliage to. She continues to add filler flowers and vines around the circle and blends. From there, she uses her Stamp Postioner to get the robins right in the perfect place and finishes the wreath with some sparse berry buds all around. For the final touch, Bonnie adds the "Friendship Blooms from the Heart" sentiment and smudges with an eraser for a more rustic look.

We hope you like this second wreath video and if you're interested in seeing another (possibly a holiday wreath, wink wink!), make sure to leave a comment on the video on YouTube.

Have a wonderful Watercolor Wednesday!

NEW VIDEO - Flowering Wreath

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday with Bonnie! This week, Bonnie shows you how to create a beautiful, blooming wreath with vines, flowers, buds, and branches! To start, she creates a 3" circle with quadrant lines in pencil so she can create a repeating pattern around the wreath. She starts with the vine from our Spring Basket Set in Pine Green and then again in Tropical around the circle. She then adds the flowers from our Chest of Flowers Set between the vines in Aubergine, then softens the image with water. Next, Bonnie adds berries from our new WC Fall Set, inking the buds with Violet and stem in Pine Green. To finish the wreath, she adds a large branch from our new WC Branches Set in Tropical. She erases the pencil lines and adds the sentiment from our WC Sentiment set.

Make sure to sign your beautiful work of art! If you liked this wreath project, leave a comment on the video, so Bonnie knows to make more videos like this! We always appreciate a thumbs up and when you subscribe, too! Have a wonderful week and Happy Watercolor Wednesday!

I'm quite sure you are going to fall in love with all of the new Art Impressions watercolor stamps! I used stamps from these new sets 4966 - WC Bird Bath Set, 4964 - WC Branches Set, 4967 - WC Fence Dies and 4963 - WC Fall Set.

I used the leaves and grass stamps from 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1 on my card and I used white embossing powder to emboss the sentiment from the 4903 - WC Sentiments Set.

I used glaze on the water in the bird bath. I hope you will play along with the new Art Impressions "Flowers and Foliage" challenge. Maybe you will win some stamps set off of your wish list like I did before I became a Watercolor Guest Designer!

Tricia Kennedy - Instagram
For this Flower and Foliage Challenge I wanted to embrace the soon-to-be fall season. The new bird bath was a perfect focal point for my scene.

I started by taping off a 2 ½ x 3 rectangle on my watercolor paper. I used blue painters tape, but washi tape would work too. I stamped the bird bath from the new Bird Bath Set in 45 Sepia and pulled the color from the lines with my paintbrush and water. Next I stamped branches from the new Branches Set in 45 Sepia. I then added the small foliage stem from the Foliage Set 2. For the fall leaves, I used three colors; 15 Olive Green, 13 Ochre and 88 Terra Cotta. I used my stamp positioner to place one of the birds from the new Bird Bath Set onto the bird bath. I stamped two of the floral stems from the new Fall Set, one in 13 Ochre with 15 Olive Green and the other in 86 African Violet with 15 Olive Green around the bird bath. I placed the vine from Foliage Set 1 in 15 Olive Green in between the flowers. I added the large grass from the Foliage Set 1in 15 Olive Green. Note, I removed the tape from the bottom, lower left and lower right corners when I pulled the water from the grass to give it a free-form look. I put 60 Salvia Blue onto my palette and brushed it in for the water in the bird bath. And then brushed the same 60 Salvia Blue into the sky. I swiped a little 28 English Red onto my palette and brushed it onto the chest of my bird and into the bird bath for a reflection. And finally, a bit of 45 Sepia onto my palette to add just a little dot onto each end of the red in the bird bath for the reflection and also to the bird bath to darken it up.

I am so excited to participate in the new Art Impressions challenge -Flowers and Foliage.

I began by cutting a mask with the Fences Die Set. I placed it on the right side of my watercolor paper. I inked the Bird Bath with African Violet. I added Blue and African Violet to the water. I used my stamp positioner to place the birds onto the bird bath. I inked them with Sepia and added Orange and Blue from my palette.
I used the left and right flowers from the Garden Wagon Mini Set with Olive Green and Magenta around the fence along with the small grass from the Foliage set. Once this was completely dry, I peeled off the mask and added some African Violet to the fence as shadows to give it some dimension. I added some Wink of Stella to the birds, bird house and water.

I inked up a branch from the new Branches set with Sepia twice and stamped it in the left hand corner. I used my stamp positioner to stamp the bird house in Sepia. I added English Red to roof using my palette. I also added Sepia to create the wood look on the bird house and some African Violet to add some shadows.
Next, I added a fir with Olive Green around the branches. I added some Blue to the background for a bit of sky.

I love all the new sets and can’t wait to see what you create with your watercolor stamps. Won’t you join the Challenge today?

Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty day!
