Sleeping Doe Watercolor by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

When I first saw this new watercolor release the doe sleeping under the tree image was my absolute favorite.  I knew I wanted to recreate that image from the packaging.  I just needed to think of a way to work it into a card.  My birthday was two weeks ago and my sweet friend, Tere, gave me several pretty card bases.  As soon as I saw them I knew one design would be perfect for my doe scene! I love it when things work out like that.

I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper.  I inked up my tree from the WC Tree Set 1 5010 with Sepia and stamped the tree in the center of the paper and did not pull the color from the lines. I used my Acrylic Stamp Positioner to add the doe from the WC Mini Critter Set 5016 with Black. I used Brown with my Brush that I scribbled onto my Watercolor Palette to add color to the tree and the doe.  Once I'd added enough color to the doe, I used the fine tip of the Black marker to add back any lost features. I used Stamping Mask Paper to create a mask for the doe. Once it was covered, I used the tall grass from the WC Foliage Set 3 5007 with Olive Green to add in the grass around the doe.  I used my brush to pull the color up from the grass. I added leaves to the tree from the WC Foliage Set 3 5007 with Olive Green and used my damp Brush to pull out some color. I inked the three tiny blooms from the WC Mini Flower Set 3 5009 with Magenta and stamped it over the leaves and used my damp Brush to pull out some color.  I used the WC Flower Set 3 5008 and inked up the stem with Olive Green and inked up the bloom with Magenta.  I stamped it a few times below the tree.  I pulled the mask off of to reveal my untouched doe.  I used a circle die cut to cut out the entire scene.

I selected a single piece of pattern paper that would match everything on my card because it would show from the back to the front.  I chose a piece from the Pebbles Garden Party 6x6 paper pad and attached it to the inside of the card. I used a decorative die cut to cut the circle in the top portion of the card front where you would see the scene.  I attached my doe scene to the inside of the card so you could see it through the opening. Then I used Seedless Preserves Distress Oxide Ink to stamp the greeting.  I also added several different colored acrylic gems along the scallops on the card front using my jewel picker.  I selected them to match the paper.

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!

NEW VIDEO - Rustic Window and Fox Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday!

As we work our way through our 2018 Watercolor Releases, next on the list is our WC Window Set and WC Mini Critter Set! Watch Bonnie create a rustic window with wooden shutters and an adorable fox resting on the windowsill!

Bonnie starts by inking the window in African Violet and Sepia, pulling the color from the lines. She then uses our Stamp Positioner to get the sleepy fox into the perfect place. The fox is stamped in Sepia and color is added from the palette. Next, Bonnie masks the fox with a sticky note and adds tiny bunched flowers behind the fox and a valance in the top of the window. Next, Bonnie adds a climbing branch and vines around the right side of the window, with added tiny purple flowers. For the last step, she did a wash of color on the sides and adds a brick texture

We hope you enjoy this week's video! We love to see your creations, so don't forget to hashtag #AiStamps on Instagram or Facebook!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made this card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend roundup. I stamped the window from the brand new 5014 - WC Window Set. That adorable fox is from the brand new 5016 - WC Mini Critter Set. The bricks on the walls are from the new 5019 - WC Wall Texture Set. My foliage and flowers are from 5007 - WC Foliage Set 3 and 4868 - WC Flower Set 2.

Welcome to another Watercolor Weekend. My framed project, “Easter Bunnies”, is a perfect accent for your spring decor.

Start off by stamping the sitting bunny from the Bunnies Set in a combination of African Violet and Sepia to create a steel grey, mask, stamp the half barrel from the containers set in Sepia, mask and finally stamp the peeking bunny in African Violet and Sepia. Remove the masks and pull the color from the lines of the bunnies using your brush and water outward and away. This will give the appearance of predominately white bunnies, but also pull a little grey in for their shadows. Pull the color on the barrel and scribble a little Sepia on your palette to brush onto the barrel and darken up the shadows. Take the fine tip of Sepia to darken the horizontal lines. Mask the bunnies and barrel and stamp in the foliage from Foliage Set 3 in Olive Green. Stamp in the filler flower from Flower Set 1 in Rose Pink and the tall flowers from Flower Set 3in Wisteria, Violet and Olive Green. Using the grasses from Foliage Set 1 and Foliage Set 3 to stamp around the sitting bunny and barrel and pull the color. Remove the masks and add a little Rose Pink onto your palette and brush onto the cheeks and ears of the bunnies. Scribble some Salvia Blue onto your palette and brush in for the sky. Add dot detail around the tall flowers in Violet and around the filler flowers in Rose Pink.

HAPPY EASTER!

I’m excited to feature two NEW watercolor sets, Window Set and Cobblestone Set, for the Art Impressions Watercolor Wonders Challenge in my “Weathered View” card.

Begin by stamping the tall window from the NEW Window Set in a combination of Sepia and African Violet to make a lovely steel grey. Pull the color from the lines using water and your paint brush. About a ½ inch down stamp a selection of the cobblestones from the NEW Cobblestone Set in Sepia. I used the stamp positioner to stamp the same four stones directly next one another. Stamp the small filler flower from the Blooming Birdhouse Set in Ochre, then the tall flower bunch from Flower Set 2 in English Red and Olive Green and then the leafy branch from Foliage Set 2 in Olive Green to fill in around the flowers. Add the vines to the top of the window from the Foliage Set 2 in Olive Green. Scribble a little Sepia and African Violet on your palette and brush onto the shutter. Add a little onto the cobblestones for added dimension. Put a little Olive Green on your palette and brush in between the cobblestones and under the flowers/foliage. Finish with dot detail using the fine tip of English Red around the tall flower bunch.
