Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Happy Spring!

Hello, Ai Fans! We're back with another Watercolor Weekend! Check out what our fabulous design team has created for you today!

Dot Freel - Instagram - Blog - Pinterest
Hello Watercolor Friends,

This is my card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend roundup. I wanted to set up a pretty Spring scene. I used quite a few stamps to make it. See the list below:

Tricia Kennedy - Instagram
My project for today’s Watercolor Weekend is a cute little notecard, “FLOWERS”.

Begin by inking up the door stamp in two colors, first African Violet then Sepia to create a lovely greyish color and stamp in the middle of your watercolor paper. Pull the color from the lines using water and your watercolor brush. Scribble a little Salvia Blue onto your palette and brush onto for the walls. Stamp the wall texture in Brownish Grey. Add in the vines/foliage with Olive Green at the base, left side and above the door. Stamp in the flower in Olive Green and Iris Purple at the base of the door. Stamp in the tiny dot flowers inUltramarine for the climbing flowers and stamp the three cone shape flowers upside down to look like wisteria in Violet. Add Salvia Blue to your palette and brush in the window panes on the door. Scribble a bit of African Violet and Sepia, mix together to create that greyish color on your palette and brush onto the door plate. Darken up the door knob with African Violet. I lost my highlight on the door knob so I drew it in using a Signo White Pen. Draw in the “FLOWERS” sign using Sepia for the wood plank and the string in African Violet. Write the word FLOWERS using the fine tip of African Violet.

Tricia O'Bin - Blog - Instagram - YouTube - Pinterest - Facebook
I stamped the basket from the 4871 – WC Rustic Container Set using Sepia. I stamped the bunny from the 4874 – WC Bunnies Set using the Stamp Positioner to put the bunny into the basket. I masked the bunny and stamped foliage from the 4051 – WC Foliage Set 1 and flowers from 5008 – WC Flower Set 3 into the basket. I added grasses from the 5007 – WC Foliage Set 3 set and flowers from the 4052 – WC Flower Set 1 set to the bottom of the basket and added a sky. I added the sentiment from the 4886K – Easter Blessings set using my MISTI. Check out my blog for all the details.

Pots & Buckets by Dana Warren

Hello AI fans!!

It's still cold where I live and there is even snow in the forecast, but I'm ready for spring!! Creating for spring helps to know that eventually, spring has to arrive for real!!

I started with the different pots and then added in the flowers and foliage. I used the following Watercolor sets: Small Container, Foliage Set 1, Flowering Mailbox, Open Window, Chest of Flowers.

Along with the stamps I used many Distress Markers. I used: Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick, Mowed Lawn, Mermaid Lagoon, Picked Raspberry, Twisted Citron, Fossilized Amber, Gathered Twigs, Shaded Lilac, Pumice Stone, Rusty Hinge, Forest Moss, Hickory Smoke, Vintage Photo, Ground Espresso, Victorian Velvet. These markers are nice as one end has a brush and the other a fine point. To add detail and or make darker shadows, I went in with the fine point.

After everything was dry, I trimmed my panel and rounded the corners. Then I wrapped some twine around the panel and tied it in a bow off to one side. I picked out some pattern paper from Echo Park paper Co Petticoats and Pinstripes pad. The watercolor panel went on the pattern paper and then I adhered that to a white card base. I decided to leave off a sentiment, instead, one can be added to the inside to fit the occasion the card is needed for!

Thanks for stopping by! Happy Stamping!!

NEW VIDEO - Wooden Gate & Flower Pots 2

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new twist on one of our recent Watercolor Wednesday videos!

This week, Bonnie changed things up with our Wooden Gate to add a two of pots in front and multiple robins around the image. Bonnie starts by partially inking our Wooden Gate and pulling the color out of the lines. She uses her Stamp Positoner to place our Small Containers on the ground in a row and a hanging plant to the left side, adding color to them from her Palette. To make the plant hanging, she simply draws in the plant hanger with a few straight and curved lines. Next, she adds vines, flowers, buds, and branches around the image, from the right post to the blooming pots. For a final touch, she adds four robins from our WC Bird Bath Set, enjoying the fragrant flowers and sweet sunshine!

We hope you enjoy this week's video! We love to see your creations, so don't forget to hashtag #AiStamps on Instagram or Facebook!

Happy Watercolor Wednesday!

NEW VIDEO - Mini Christmas Watercolor Tags! Last Watercolor Wednesday of 2017!

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to our last Watercolor Wednesday of 2017! It has been a joy to practice and play with our watercolor stamps with you this year and hope you have enjoyed our videos!

This week, Bonnie creates four mini projects to make quick and easy Christmas tags, perfect for your gifts or to create a small image for a card! Bonnie creates a holly shrub in a decorative container, a Christmas tree adorned with bulbs, a birdhouse resting on pine branches, and a mini cottage covered in snow. These images are perfect to write in a to/from at the top, die cut and mount on some patterned cardstock. Add a tag to your gifts to family or friends, or maybe some special baked treats you made to share!

"Thank you so much for following me this past year. Thank you so much for being with me on Wednesdays. It honestly is my favorite day! I love doing these projects, I love teaching you new things, and I just think this is such a fun technique! Thank you again, have a wonderful holiday, a very Merry Christmas, and I will see you all next year!" - Bonnie Krebs

There are six different puppies in the set and I am excited to use them all! I added that pumpkin from the WC Series 3 Set 1 - 4056 for a touch of Fall.

My Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend project is quick, easy and only requires two stamps to achieve the “glass vase” look.

Start by stamping the middle vase in the center of your watercolor paper using the Small Container Set in 86 African Violet. Using your stamp positioner, stamp the vase two more times, one to the left and one to the right of middle. Pull the color from the lines making sure to leave a white highlight in the center/center-right portion of the vase. This is essential for a “glass” appearance. Ink up the tall flower cluster in Flower Set 2 with 15 Olive Green for the stems and 13 Ochre for the flowers, stamping twice. You want some of the stems to go into the vase. Next mask off the flowers and stems by placing a post it note at the top of the vase. Stamp only the stem portion from the tall flower cluster in Flower Set 2 into the vase below those already stamped. Don’t ink up the stamp to do this step, use the ink left on the stamp from the previous step. Repeat for the vase on the left using 28 English Red and right 88 Terra Cotta. The flowers are tiny and just require a little water to activate the color and even less, if any, for the leaves. Imagine your light source is coming from the top right corner onto all three vases, the highlight is in the center/center-right. Pull the color from the stems in the vase in the same direction, to the left, leaving the highlight. It gives the idea that light is coming into the “glass vase” and the stems are distorted under the water. Place a little 86 African Violet onto your palette and add dot detail into the bottom of each base to simulate pebbles or marbles. Then, using the fine tip of 86 African Violet, add more dot detail in the same area. Also, add dot detail to the flowers using the fine tip of 13 Ochre, 88 Terra Cotta and 28 English Red. And finally, ground the scene by adding a line of 45 Sepia under the vases.

Welcome to this week’s watercolor weekend.  In the wake of all the tragedies happening around our country I wanted to create a scene that felt peaceful.  I hope it helps to give you some peace as well.  I wish that everyone could spread a little kindness, it goes such a long way.  Therefore, I thought I would use the Beauty is all around you sentiment.  It is so true and it’s a little reminder to be thankful for every day and enjoy your “Happy Place”.

Onto the details of my project.
First, I started by stamping the tree trunks from the New Fir Trees Set with Sepia.  I then added the Foliage from the branches in the Fir Trees Set with Pine Green.  I softened them Fir’s by adding water with my brush.

I added the tiny grass from the Foliage Set to the bottoms of the trees and used my palette to add some additional green to the ground.  I used the Teeny Tiny Flowers from the Flower Set with African Violet to add a touch of color.

Using my palette, I added some mountains in the background using Olive Green, Pine Green and Sepia.  I then added Salvia, Manganese and Blue to create the look of water.  I also used the same colors to create clouds in the sky.  Once it was dry I stamped the bench from the New Benches Set using Mocha.

I added the “Beauty is all around you” from the WC Sentiments set using Black Versamark Ink.  The panel is 3.75x5 which is adhered to a 4x5.25 panel of Dark Chocolate cardstock from Gina K Designs.  I placed the entire panel on an Asparagus card base from Gina K Designs.
Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you have a crafty day!

Hello Art Impressions watercolor fans,

I have never been to England but my craft room is decorated in the shabby chic style and we have always called it the "cottage" room. I made this birthday card using the English Cottage from the AI Watercolor Series 6 Set 1 - 3497 for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekends Roundup. I made one similar to this one and framed it for my cottage room.

I've often wondered why I hadn't seen the little bridge stamp set which is included in Set 1 - 3497 used on any cards in the AI watercolor cards on Pinterest. I've seen several with the big bridge, but none with the little bridge. Just looking at other Pinterest AI watercolor cards can inspire me to create something new. There are definitely tons of them out there. You can follow my Pinterest board by clicking on this link.

Sometimes my best cards happen when I have to stop half way and go back to it later. I love how this one turned out when I came back to it. Maybe because it had dried completely? I ended up stamping more leaves with olive green to my trees and then I added the flowers. I added the shade to the water under the bridge and I made my Happy Birthday banner using my Brother label maker.

If you have made a card with the small bridge, please tag me @dotjiris in it so I can see how you used it. I plan to use every one of my AI watercolor stamps again and again in different ways and colors. What other stamps do you get to use more than a few times? Such a bargain for the money and super fun to make. I seriously want them all!

My project for today is a summer inspired watercolor scene displayed in a 4x6 silver frame - “At The Beach”. I started by stamping the tiny pail from the WC Small Container Set first in Sepia (stamped it off on a scratch piece of paper) then re-inking the stamp in African Violet (again stamping it off on scratch paper) before finally stamping it onto the actual watercolor paper. When inking the stamp in Sepia and African Violet, it combines into a nice shade of gray, almost metal-like. I added the wild grasses from the Garden Wagon Mini Set on both sides of the pail along with the small grass stamp from the WC Foliage Set 1 in Sepia. The pail was filled with flowers from the WC Flower Set 2 in Magenta and Olive Green and completed with the small grass stamp from the WC Foliage Set 1 in Olive Green. I mixed Rosewood and Sepia on my palette and brushed in the beach. Next, I stamped the umbrella from the WC Series 2 Set in African Violet. With the umbrella in place, I added Manganese Blue to my palette and brushed in the ocean. I put English Red on my palette to fill in the umbrella for a great pop of color. And, Salvia Blue on the palette to complete the clouds. The final step was to add dot detail around the pail and flowers.

When you see Easy Watercolor Painting do you think not you? If you are like me and you love the look of watercolor paintings but you can't paint, then I have the technique for you. I will show you an easy way to watercolor using stamps and water-based markers.

In April of 2016 I came across a watercolor video, I was so intrigued by the artwork that I thought, I can do that, and so it began! I recently started this new blog (I used to be at www.thepassionatestamper.blogspot.com) and a YouTube channel where I have just started creating videos to show you how easy it is to watercolor without having any experience. Anyone can do it and I'll show you how step-by-step.

I began by stamping the chest using Sepia on Canson XL watercolor paper. I pulled the color out of the lines. I made a mask for the chest and stamped the cobblestone using Sepia. I added vines using Olive Green around the chest. Once I softened the vines, I used the daisy bunch to add flowers in Brilliant Yellow and Violet. I also used the flower from the Spring Basket stamped in Persimmon. I used the Prussion Blue on my watercolor palette to add color to the chest. I added the small grass to the cobblestone in Olive Green and stamped the small daisy from the new flower set using Prussian Blue and Olive Green.

I cut a background I did using Brushos to 4 x 5 1/4 and added craft foam to pop it up. I cut a stitched circle at the top and stamped the "Love You A Bunch" sentiment in the bottom right corner. I attached the watercolor painting to the background so that it showed through the window and adhered the entire panel to a top folding white card.

Here is another project using the same chest of flowers. See how each one comes out different even though it was the exact same stamps and process? The background was done with stencils and ink.

Thanks for joining me for this weeks Watercolor Weekend. Visit my YouTube Channel HERE to see how you can make this easy watercolor painting.

NEW VIDEO - Hanging Baskets Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a Watercolor Wednesday ... On a Friday! Bonnie was traveling this last week, but she couldn't leave you hanging (pun intended)! So today, we have a beautiful Hanging Baskets video! Bonnie starts by stamping the branch from our Clay Pot set and adding leaves with the vine from our Foliage Set 1. She then uses her Stamp Positioner to add three baskets, two from our Small Containers Set and one from our Wooden Chair Mini Set. She adds some Molotow Masking dots to the sides where she'll have white flowers and then pulls the colors from the lines and adds dimension to the round containers. Next, she adds blooms from our Flower Set 1 and and ivy vines from our Foliage Set 2 New. Bonnie includes a WC Birds Set image on the branch and lines for the baskets with a ruler. For the final touches, she removes the masking and and some dots with her Signo White Pen.

We hope you enjoyed the video this week!

NEW Series! Watercolor Weekend Roundup!

Hello, Ai Watercolor Fans!

Say hello to our first ever Watercolor Weekend Roundup! We know you love our watercolor line, and wanted to provide you with even more inspiration! Please welcome our Watercolor Guest Design Team members, Dot Freel, Tricia Kennedy and Tricia O'Bin! Every first and third Saturday on the blog, we will show a project each of these talented ladies has made. Let's take a look at their fabulous projects!

Hello.  I'm so excited to show you the first card I made as a guest designer for my most favorite stamp company - Art Impressions!  I really love barns and I think a quilt should be painted on all of them.  I love how Iowa, where my best friend Jamie lives, has a lot of barns with quilts painted on the barn sides or doors.  I'm also a quilter which is another reason why I love barns with quilts painted on them.
The Old Barn stamp set is truly my most favorite of all of the Art Impressions watercolor stamps.  I have used it more than any other set except for the Foliage set 1 which is an absolute necessity if you are going to make these wonderful scenes.  I added the quilt to the barn stamp by using a ruler and a Micron Pigma Pen.  I used Marvy Pens and Strathmore watercolor paper to watercolor this scene.  I added Distress Mosaic Glaze to the water to make it look wet.  I rounded all of the corners of my card and background papers using a corner rounder from Michael's, then used my tape runner to tape everything in place.

I have a few of my barns framed and placed around my house but I am beyond thrilled that the Art Impressions booth will have this card I made as an example at the future Scrapbook Expos.  Click here to see the schedule and maybe you can attend a watercolor class near you!  I'm still hoping to attend one myself.

Art Impressions Products: 4807 Old Barn (Barn, tree and fence), 4051 Foliage Set 1 (small grass and leaves), 4774 Stamp Positioner4773 Acrylic Block 5 PackWC Brush NO. 4, Strathmore Watercolor Paper
Other Supplies: Distress Mosaic GlazeMicron Pigma Pen 01 (drew quilt using ruler), Scotch tape runner, corner rounder punch

I stamped the center "selective color" pot, flowers and foliage with three markers #45 sepia, #65 iris purple and #15 olive green.  Using water and a paintbrush, I watercolored the Art Impressions way by pulling out the color from the stamped image, fussy cut it out, added foam squares to the back and set aside.  Next I stamped and watercolored the two "sketched" images in #12 grey.  I attached the "selective color" piece in the center.  I chose a silver 3 1/2 x 5 frame which compliments the "sketched" background.  I love how the selective color technique gives a sketched look and just the perfect pop of color.  This could easily be made into a card or a scrapbook page embellishment.

Marvy Le Plume II Markers: 45 Sepia55 Iris Purple15 Olive Green12 Grey
Other Supplies: Foam Squares, Post It Notes

I created this card using the vase from the WC Ornate Container Set. I filled it with the vine from the WC Foliage Set 2 New, and flowers from the Chest of Flowers and WC Flower Set 2. I cut out the vase with a circle die and popped it up. I added a sentiment from the WC Sentiments Set and added some Gina K Designs Lemon Drop ink to the circle. The background is done with Brushos on watercolor paper.

Wow, what fantastic projects! Be sure to leave some comment love to welcome our Guest Design Team! Did they inspire you to try a new technique? We would love to hear what you think in the comments! You can also visit their personal blogs or Instagram accounts for even more inspiration!
