NEW VIDEO - Cottage on a Hill Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Today we have a new Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie creates a cottage on a hill, with a river bend winding through the woods. We love how this simple sketch can really change the look of the landscape! She uses one of our WC Mini Cottages for the main image and adds trees, bushes, tiny flowers, and a roving fence.

We hope you will share your projects with us! You can post them over on our Facebook or use the hashtag #AiWatercolor on Instagram!

NEW VIDEO - Rustic Truck and Barn Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

It's that time again; time for another Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie uses all our WC Truck Mini Set along with our WC Tree Set 1 to create a rustic image, perfect for a masculine card! Bonnie starts by inking the truck in two markers, African Violet and Sepia, and cut a mask to cover the image after she stamps it down on watercolor paper. This gives her the ability to place the barn in the background, aligning the placement with her stamp positioner. She removes the mask and pulls the color from the lines, darkens the windows with her fine tip marker, and adds color from her palette. Bonnie then masks the barn and adds pine trees all around the image. She returns to her truck mask, but cuts the back of the truck cab and the tailgate out, so she can add the branches into the truck bed. Bonnie adds tall grasses around the tires and along with the branches, and some more browns to make the truck rustic. Back to the truck mask, Bonnie places it to use the roving fence in front of the barn. Don't forget to sign and date!

We hope you enjoy this week's rustic, masculine card. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube for the latest videos and give this video a "thumbs up" if you enjoyed it!

Easter Egg Watercolor Truck by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

Happy First Day of Spring!

When I first saw the truck in the new Ai watercolor release I knew I wanted to get it because I could fill it with tons of things.  It was a given that I would put flowers and leaves in it, but Easter eggs was not one of the first things I thought of. This blog post is falling on the first day of spring, but it is also my last post before Easter, so I had to come up with a way to combine the two.  After looking at the sets I had planned to use this month, I decided to combine a few of them into this one post.

I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper.  I inked up my truck from the WC Truck Mini Set 5011 with African Violet and Sepia and stamped the truck in the center of the paper and pulled the color from the lines.  I masked the truck and used Steel Blue to ink just the eggs from the HM Easter Set 4976 Basket Image.  I stamped them once around the cab of the truck and used masking paper to create a mask before I stamped them again towards the back of the truck bed.  Then I colored the eggs with Iris PurpleVioletTropicalBrilliant Yellow and Steel Blue markers from a WC Palette using a # 4 brush. I inked the three tiny blooms from the WC Mini Flower Set 3, 5009 with Violet and stamped it in small clusters.  I inked up another small bloom from the same set with Brilliant Yellow and stamped in a few different areas.  I filled in the gaps using the tiny grass from the Foliage set 4051 inked with Pine Green.  I also added some vines from the WC Foliage Set 3 5007 with Pine Green.  Once I was happy with everything, I cut my image out with Spellbinders Nestabilities 4.

I stamped the set of three eggs from the Sweet Easter Set 5004 onto the Canson XL paper with Jet Black Archival Ink.  I colored them using my same supplies.  I fussy cut them out with detail scissors and added them to my layer with foam tape. I also stamped the Happy Easter greeting from that same stamp set with the Jet Black ink and cut it out using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels set 17. I also added that with foam tape.

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I made this card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend roundup. I used the bench from the - WC Bench Set and the stamp positioner to make this potting bench. I used three of the containers from the 4869 - WC Small Container set. I used the smaller watering can from the brand new 5012 - WC Wishing Well Set. My foliage and flowers are from the brand new sets 5007 - WC Foliage Set 3 and 5008 - WC Flower Set 3.

Other Supplies: Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock

For today’s Watercolor Weekend project, “Filled with Flowers”, I used three of the newly released watercolor sets. I simply LOVE all the new sets!

Start off by inking up the watering can from the Wishing Well Mini Set first in Sepia followed immediately in African Violet. This makes a great steel grey color. I removed the ink from both bottom corners and the top center. Stamp in the lower center portion of your watercolor paper. Pull the colors from the lines with your watercolor brush and water. Using the stamp positioner, stamp the cobblestones from the Cobblestone Set (coming next week) in Sepia under the watering can. Next, stamp in the mini grass from Foliage Set 1 in Olive Green, pull the color, then ink up the tall flowery grass from the garden wagon mini set in Olive Green with African Violet on the little buds. Fill the watering can with foliage from Foliage Set 2 in Olive Green and flowers from Flower Set 3 in Rose Pink and Olive Green, Flower Set 2 in brilliant yellow and Flower Set 1 in African Violet. Add Olive Green to your palette and brush in between the cobblestones. Add a combination of Sepia and African Violet to your palette, combine to make the steel grey color and brush onto the watering can to add depth and dimension. Finish off with dot detail using the fine tip of African Violet.

I’m excited to feature two NEW watercolor sets, Truck Mini Set and Flower Set 3, for the Watercolor Wonders Challenge in my “Truckload of Texas Bluebonnets” card.

First stamp the truck from the NEW Truck Mini Set in the lower left corner using a combination ofSepia and African Violet to achieve a beautiful grey color. Ink up the barn from NEW Truck Mini Set in Sepia and stamp in the upper right corner. Pull the color from the lines on the truck and the barn with your brush and water. Add a combination of Sepia and African Violet to your palette and brush onto the truck. Add Sepia and English Red to your palette. Brush the Sepia onto the roof of the barn. Mix the Sepia and English Red and brush onto the barn. Darken the windows with a little African Violet from your palette. Use a post-it note to mask off the bed of the truck then stamp the tiny flower from the NEW Flower Set 3 in Sapphire on the top ¾ of the flower, African Violet on the bottom ¼ of the flower and Olive Green on the stems. Stamp a portion of the fence from the NEW Truck Mini Set in Sepia on both sides of the barn. Use a post-it note to mask off the sides of the barn and stamp in trees using the two small leaf branches from the Foliage Set 2 in Olive Green. Add the small grass from theFoliage Set 1 around the barn and field and a combination of small and large grass around the truck using Olive Green. Add Salvia Blue to your palette and brush into the sky. Add dot detail for flowers in African Violet around the barn. Finally, to make the flowers resemble Texas Bluebonnets, put a dot of Copic White Opaque on the tip of each flower.

Introducing the new Wishing Well, Foliage 3 and Mini Flowers stamp sets. These are amazing sets and when I saw them I knew they would be some of my favorites going forward. I also grabbed a sentiment from the 4886K – Easter Blessings stamp set.

I started off by using a Spellbinders oval die and a pencil to lightly mark a border. Using African Violet and Sepia, I stamped the Wishing Well in the middle of the oval. The Foliage set 3 has this beautiful vine that looks like a climbing bush. I also used one of the new small foliage stamps in the set behind and to the right of the well. Who can forget about the tried and true grasses, which I use in almost every project. I softened the lines and stamped the flowers (they look like 3 hearts) in Magenta all around. Next, I started out with the mini flower in Olive green (used it like foliage). I added another of the mini flowers inked in Sepia and Pink. Then I added some leaves from the foliage 3 set and finally the heart flowers in Prussian Blue.

I used the Grey marker and Black copic multiliner to trace along the pencil line to create a border. I stamped the Easter Blessing sentiment using Versafine Black Ink. Lastly, I added a bit of Wink of Stella to the Well.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope my Easter Wishing Well gives you inspiration to get out your stamps. I hope you consider playing with your stamps and joining in with the Challenge!

NEW VIDEO - Vintage Truck Mini Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a NEW Watercolor Wednesday and the first video featuring our 2018 Watercolor releases!

Our new WC Truck Mini Set was made with masculine cards in mind! This vintage truck is perfect to fill with any foliage, produce, or twigs for your working guy! Bonnie starts by inking the image in her #86 African Violet and #45 Sepia Marvy markers. She pulls the colors from the lines, but leaves highlights on the top of the curved area and sides of the truck. Next, she uses a sticky note to mask the truck bed to add tiny buds from our new WC Mini Flower Set, and adds them down around the tires. She then adds vines and tall grasses from our new WC Foliage 3 Set to set the scene. To finish, she adds a wash of sky and darker blue shadows to the truck.

We hope you enjoy this new video and check out the first six Watercolor sets being released March 1 at artimpressions.com!

Happy Watercolor Wednesday!
