Whoots Is Having Another Birthday!

Maria here....I know I used Whoots last week, but I just can't get enough of this little guy :) Today I made a "spring" card. These are so easy and fun and the best part..you can get two out of one sheet of 12" x 12" paper!
I thought I'd give you a little tutorial on how to make the "spring" card if you haven't made one.
Take a 5.25" x 10.5" piece of patterned paper--design side up. Fold in half and then fold the side on the right in half again.
Open flat again and fold up the bottom left hand side of the paper until you get to the farthest score line on the right.
Open the paper back flat and repeat the same thing with the top left side paper going down.
Next turn over the base so you can see all the scores and make two lines from the center of the base to the score line as above. Trim away the triangles this makes.
This is what your final base will look like after the scoring and the triangles are cut away. Fold up and you have a "spring card that stands up itself!
**Note--in my final card I decided to use the design facing down as my "showing side". No worries just fold in the other direction.

I stamped the sentiment and glued just the corner to the front. I then cut a decorative square to cover the front of the card. I usually tack down the top of the card to the base with some double-sided tape--it stands better that way.

Paper Line: K & Co.
Colored With: Copics
Balloons and Decorative Square: Cricut
Other: Stickles

Life in the Deep End

Hi Everyone,
Guess who I saw today, Agnes, and she had been to the Kentucky Derby, in all her finest. In fact I have a card that depicts her at the Derby last Saturday. She said she had a blast and said she is living life "in the deep end". I guess she is going to let her hair down, so to speak. She said she was in the infield and had a spot right next to the rail,.... saw the race and everything. (Most people in the infield never see a horse run. LOL) She even had a bet on the winner..... bet 'em to show....... she was being conservative in her bets. LOL Well look at her, she was wearing her Derby Hat and she was decked out in her finest. You know the infield is a happening place, so I bet she had a great time.

I hope you enjoyed Agnes' adventure as much as she did.

Stop back tomorrow for the next weekly challenge.

Meet Maude!

I am feeling a little like Maude this morning. I have had a cold all weekend and really need my morning drink. For me its Cola-Cola instead of coffee tho. I love how this kitty looks just as cranky as she does. Lucky for me, my kitties dont look like that in the mornings.
All my stamps can be found at Art Impressions.
Have a great Monday!

You know you're getting old...

It's Sunday again which means it's time for me to share another wonderful image (or two) from Art Impressions. My card was made using some stamps from their Shoppe Windows line.  I chose the adorable Lingerie Shoppe.  Doesn't it make the cutest birthday card for a sister or girlfriend?  The Shoppe Windows are clear stamps which make them so easy to use!

Here's a close up of the cute little mannequin image and the funny verse that goes along with it.

On the inside I used Happy Birthday (Sku#E597).

It's BBQ Time

Hi Everyone,

A week from this Sunday is Mother's Day, and a lot of families are going to be cooking out. So here is a cute invitation to send out for this great party. And who else is the perfect couple to announce your great party than the BBQ Couple, and they always host a great grill party.

Since I don't have an apron die, I cut my own out of blue CS. When I added the gingham paper, I adhered it on the sides and the bottom, leaving a opening on the top for a pocket. Next I wanted to make the couple stand out so I adhered the couple to a label shape.I adhered the stamped image on the bottom half of the label and used pop dots on the top half of that stamped image.Next I just adhered the bottom half of the label to the gingham paper.  Behind the label shape is the invitation information for the BBQ party, tucked right into that pocket. What a cute party invitation and it fits into an A-2 size envelope.

Stop back tomorrow for the next weekly Art Impressions Weekly Challenge.

Technique Tuesday with Amy!

Hi to everyone, it's Amy! Amy Hurley-Purdie to be exact!
I'm new to the blog, but I've been teaching, and designing
in the Scrapbook industry for 15 years. One of my favorite
things to  do is pass along fun techniques and ideas. As artist
we all love a new juicy idea's to get are creative juices flowing!

I thought I would share a fun and easy technique to
create something with your stamps in a different way.
First I stamped my image, (Whoots by Art impressions...
because hello, they're ADORABLE!) Next I outlined my image
with Glossy accents. Out line with thin lines, but remember the
glossy may pull apart and be thicker in some place and thinner
in others. Don't worry, wait a minute and then go back
and gently fill in the thinner spots. Let dry over night.

Next use spray adhesive on the front of the image and wrap with
aluminum foil (shiny side up). Take a small paint brush and go over nooks
and crannies of the image that now shows through the foil.( I pressed my
brush down hard enough so it would fan out on the page, but
not so hard to tear it) Then I took Alcohol inks and with my applicator
dabbed on inks in ginger and carmel( i love the warm brown, gold
and copper look this gives it, but you could use any colors you want).
Just keep dabbing and adding color until your happy.

I took a Copic marker in YR07 (cadmium orange),
100(black), and E18(copper) and added some details. I used white
liquid pearls to add some white accents on the eyes. Finally I've mounted
mine on a cute little sign, but you can use your imagination and go wild!

What a cute card, gift bag, or party decor this would be.
Remember there are no mistakes in crafting, only embellishment opportunities!

Happy crafting!
