Where Does Inspiration Come From?

Inspiration and ideas are everywhere! Color combinations and layouts are in magazine ads, on TV, in display windows, on a dress or outfit someone is wearing, etc, etc, etc…. I keep an Inspiration Journal with my drawings and pictures from magazines, articles, and ads. I also get inspiration from creative people - your blogs. :o)

Today I'm sharing an ATC [Artist Trading Card] that was inspired by a really cool print in the lobby of the hotel we stayed in during vacation last week, which by the way was fabulous - we drove from IL/MI to Myrtle Beach, SC in a 15 passenger van. The youngest passenger was 19 months and the oldest 77 years. Everyone was talking at the same time. The baby was loudest laughing and giggling.
There are so many ways to color!  The medium I chose for coloring was inspired by a post by Cee Cee, which you can see here.

Stamped Mini Roses in Vase image onto watercolor paper with StazOn jet black.  Used a paint brush to apply liquid frisquet over image. You could also use masking tape. I find the liquid really nice for small areas. Allowed to dry.

Next I used Eclipse tape to mask, and used a blending tool with a black soot Distress Ink pad to create a dark circle with the image at the edge of it.

I then inked up the Friends are Flowers sentiment, stamped off on scratch paper and stamped onto the ATC. Repeated several times to create a 'word background.' To create the white boarder, I ripped the masking tape and placed around the image and circle. I used the blending tool and a walnut stain Distress Ink pad to add a little color.

Next, I dabbed a tissue over the frisquet to pick up any wet ink. I then removed the frisquet by gently rubbing my finger over it and pull it off.

Time to color! Colored image using brush pens direct to paper - starting in the area where I wanted the darkest shade,  then spread color with water brush. I used Sakura glaze and metallic pens to add a more color with a little bling. I trimmed it and layered it onto a piece of black card stock.

Water Color Series 7!

For my card this week I used WaterColor Series 7 . I stamped the images right from the stamp pad. If I had needed to use two colors on any stamp I would have used markers. But I didnt need to with this card so I just used the pads. You can barely see the arbor behind the flowers. I stamped it with Mementos London Fog. I wished later  I had used something darker but since I was going for a white vinyl arbor and fence I didnt want it to be too dark.
I think it turned out fairly well tho. What do you think?

Betty sings God Bless America

I am so proud to make a card for Independence Day , this card was made in honor for all who have fought for our Freedom and for those who continue to fight for this wonderful country we live in . I am proud to say my dad was a Marine who served 27 years for his country ,I know what its like to live without a loved family member who has been called to duty to protect our great country. God Bless America and this is the theme I chose to create my card. I was flipping thru my stash of stamps and came across Betty , here she sits pounding out a tune on the old ivories , and today she will serenade us with her rendition of God Bless America , can't you hear her belting it out , Art Impressions has such great stamps they are stories awaiting to be told.
Today I made my own background paper with items I had screaming at me to use them , I started with a red card base , 5.5" x 5.5 " , next I cut a 5" x 5" white layer , then I used a music note stamping wheel

next I inked the edges in SU night of navy ,

here I used a star punch and punched red and blue stars ,

now I glued them randomly to the layer and trimmed off the over hang of the star tips

now I used a white gel pen to add faux stitching to each star to make them pop

and now the last step is to run it thru the bi shot in a woven embossing folder and because it is a 5"x 5" layer you will have to run it thru twice to get the whole surface embossed .

you can see each layer I added just bumped it to the next level , layers and texture add a lot of interest to your projects .

Stamps : Betty U1527
Ink : SU night of navy , SU black
Copics : T1 , W5 , W7 , BG0000 , B41 , B93 , Y38 , RV10 , E000 , E00 , E13 , E25
accessories : starts embossing folder , SU woven embossing folder , white gel pen , star punch , silver embossing powder , SU woven red stripped ribbon , SU Apothecary accents framelits
Labels: Crystal , Copics , Betty SKU # U1527

Chillin' at the Beach

Mrs. Ed is chillin' at the beach.  Can you think of a more relaxing way to spend an afternoon?! :o) I colored her with  my Copic markers.  Next, I masked her and the umbrella top, and airbrushed the sky and water. I used a glitter pen to give the water some highlights.   I stamped the Flying gulls and filled them in with a white sharpie. In the small areas, I gently dot the color in.

I stamped on the birds on the inside of the card to carry the theme forward.

Thinking of You!

Happy Monday Everyone! Today is my 1st day back to work so not as happy for me. But oh well, I have to work to pay for all  my stamping treasures, Right!
I have used this adorable little bear called Sick Bear and the sentiment Thinking of you . I picked the papers to go with it because they remind me of jammies. I colored him with copic markers and layered him with a scalloped rectangle spellbinder die.
I hope you enjoy your monday and come back tomorrow and check out Trenas project!
Happy Stamping!

Revin' Up For Fun!

More birthday cards for my stash!  These two old gals are a riot.  They're called Power Walkers and are from Art Impressions.  The cute phrase is from the clear set Golfers.  I colored them with Copic markers and pieced the lady's hand so that it would extend beyond the card for a 3-D look.  I've shown how I did that in the photos below.  Simply stamp her twice.  Once on the paper your going to cut out and then another time on a scrap piece.  Cut out the scrap and glue it back where it belongs on the good image.  The card was cut with Spellbinders label dies.  Inside says "The only thing that needs jogging is my mind!" "Happy Birthday!"
