A Snowman and His Buds

Hello Ai Fans! This week I'm hangin' out with a snowman & penguins

I stamped the image onto watercolor paper, sprinkled with emboss powder, and heat set.
Next, I used water based markers to watercolor each image.  I worked in one small area at a time using  a combination of direct and in-direct methods to fill in color. For the direct method, I colored directly onto the paper with the markers and then spread the color with a water brush, starting in the lightest area - and always starting with a clean brush.  In very small areas, I colored a small amount and left part of the area without color - that would be the "lightest" color that I started  in with the water brush. For the in-direct method, I scribbled the marker onto a pallet and picked up color with a water brush.  As with traditional water coloring, I wet the area first.

Here's an example of coloring direct.

One of the reasons I love this technique, is that it is very forgiving. :o) If you find a hard line, you can re-wet the whole area with clean water and the line magically disappears!  If you want to darken an area, you can add more color. If you want to lighten an area, you can add clean water and dab with a clean paper towel.

For the background, I ran a white ink pad over the emboss folder (on the side that was raised) and then embossed it.

O come let us adore Him

Hello Ai Fans!!

This beautiful verse and image are from Art Impressions Christmas line.
The verse is called Nativity O Come Adore Him
and the image is Animal Nativity.

In keeping with the subtle colors on the front of the card I chose to color the image with pastel colors.  The bunnies are actually a very pale pink which unfortunately didn't show up in the photo.

Here's a close up of the flower cluster on the front.

As you might know I often make two cards at once.  Here's the other version I made.

And...a close up of the sweet Nativity scene...

Village Try Folds by Jessica Griffin

The weather is getting cold, and we've been using the fireplace a bit more. It's time to start thinking about Christmas cards if you'll be making them. Assuming you haven't already started! :)

I wanted something classy, that would stick out when my friends and family received our cards, so I went with something non-traditional... black and white!

I used "Village" from the Try Folds collection to create this one dimensional card. I rounded the corners on the white card stock, but opted to leave the base square.

I sprayed some white seam binding with Lindy Stamp Gang's new Winter Wonderland collection, I used Frozen Jack Frost. Hopefully you can see the sparkle in the photo.

Everyone always comments on my bows, and let me tell you, I cheat. Big time! I tie my bow first. Then I lay down a piece of seam binding (ribbon, whatever I'm using), put a twist in the ribbon where I'll put the bow, and then I use a Glue Dot to adhere the bow. Putting the little twist in the ribbon makes it appear as though the ribbon and bow are one piece.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Born to be wild!

Hello Ai friends, and happy Friday! Today I have a very fun and bright card for you. I just love this fun gal from the Ai people collection, she is from the Mad Rider set SKU# 4101. She looks like she is having a blast on her cute and fashionable orange scooter! Although I'm not sure I can say the same about her little companion in the basket.
I colored her in with copic markers. I'm somewhat new to alcohol markers. I've been coloring with Prisma Color pencils for quite a long time, and thought I'd better start using the Copic's I bought last year. They sure are vibrant.

Here is a close up of the colored image and that cute "Born to be wild" sentiment that comes in the set. I think this would make a great birthday card.

Here are the copic markers and two Spectrum Noir alcohol markers I colored my card with.

Hope you enjoy the card I created today. I hope you have a safe and wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by.
