Cupcakes or Chocolate?!

Hello hello Ai fans and happy Monday!  I hope you are in the mood for cupcakes and chocolate, hehe! This week, I used this yummy cupcakes stamps and the fabulous sentiment from the My Favorite Things set.  ('See the chocolate' sentiment is available separately, click HERE).

Let's start with the yummy cupcakes!  I created a colorful background by randomly stamping the cupcakes stamp with neon color ink pads (purple, blue, orange, and pink).

Then, distress the edges with distress ink pad in black soot.

Time for chocolate action!  I stamped the sentiment with Versamark ink pads, embossed with white embossing powder.  And on each 'chocolate' word, I colored it with Copic markers (B06, RV09, YR68).

How about a little love?  And Viola!  I hope you like it and until next Monday!  Happy Crafting!

It's your birthday! Have a ball!

Hello Ai fans!

My son Dominick's friend Drew just turned 13 and he wanted a soccer themed
card for him.  Easy enough.  I'm swimming in soccer stamps and accessories since the kids have been playing for the last 7 years.

The soccer ball was made with a Quickutz die and measures about 4".  The tag is from Memory Box and the Happy Birthday (Sku#E3578) saying is from Art Impressions.  The embossing folder is from Darice.

Inside I used another Ai verse called Have a Ball (Sku#G3587) .

Tryfold Tutorial

Hi it's Maria and I'm here today to show you a new line of stamps that we have at Art Impressions has called Tryfolds. There is nothing quite like these stamps on the market and I thought you might be interested in a step-by-step tutorial on how to use them.

At present, there are five different sets of Tryfolds:
Harvest, Cottage, Lakehouse, Garden and Village

Here are the add on's: Furries and Feathers

Are you ready??
Let's make a card using the Village Set.
It would be the perfect Christmas card for you to make this year.
Unique, Fun and easy!!

Let's get started by making the base for your card:

  • Cut white cardstock to 11” x 6”. Score at 5 ½”. This will form your base.
  • Cut Green snowflake paper to 5 ¾” x 5 ¼”. Glue onto front card base. NOTE: Rotate your piece to fit perfectly sizes are similar.
  • Cut red plaid paper to 1 ½”” x 5 ¾”. Add to left side of the card as shown.
  • Add bow by wrapping the bow ends around the green snowflake paper and glue in back. Now mount the green snowflake paper to your card base. Add a glue dot under the bow knot to keep in place. Set this base aside for later.

Time to make the Tryfold:

  • Cut white cardstock to 5 ¼” x 11”. Score at 3 5/8” from each end. This will make three equal sections—DO NOT fold.

  • Stamp the Houses image in the center panel approximately ½” from the top and centered. Stamp sentiment and optional mice under the houses.

  • Flip card over. Stamp the Snowman image on the right panel. It should be stamped next to the score line and 1 1/2” from the top of the card. Ink and stamp the Tree with bench image on the left panel. It should be stamped next to score line 2” from top.
  • Color images. We used Marvy Markers using the Art Impressions Watercolor method using a palette and colors #15, #28, #45, #40.
    Coloring Tip:
If you alcohol based markers like Copics they will bleed through and be seen on the other side. No worries--just take a piece of your left over patterned paper and glue it to the inside of your card before you do the cutting around the images in the next step.

Cutting Around the Images:
  • Fold Tryfold base at two score lines.
  •  On the left (snowman panel) cut around image. See photo. Do the same with the right panel (trees/bench). Fold card.

  • Glue finished Tryfold to the front of the card base you made previously (with the bow) only gluing the center section to the base.
  • We added some self-adhesive gem stones to the tree fun some extra fun.

 Now it's your turn!
We would LOVE to see what you do with the Tryfolds
After you try one post a picture on our Facebook page so we can see your creation.

Joy!!

Coffee with Girlfriends

Hello Ai friends, and Happy Friday! Today I have a fun card that I created using the fabulous Ai Girlfriend Blend stamp set SKU# 4132. I absolutely LOVE this set! It makes me smile. These gals look like they are having a great time!
The card base is made with kraft cardstock, 6" wide x 5-1/2" tall. I layered the kraft with some Cherry Cobbler cardstock, and rounded the corners with a decorative corner rounder. I chose to use two matching designer papers from  a 6"x6" paper pad from Carta Bella (such pretty papers!) on the front. I used a strip of Cherry Cobbler pleated ribbon, and sewed all the layers together onto the kraft base with my sewing machine. For my girlfriend image, I stamped the image with black Memento ink onto Neenah white cardstock. For coloring the image, I used some brand new Spectrum alcohol markers (I am just loving these, they are a lot like Copic markers, just more affordable). I distressed the edges with Vintage distress ink. I used a pretty Stampin Up! die to cut the image out, and I die cut an additional piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock with the same size die, cut it in half, and layered it behind my colored image.
Here is a close up of my colored image. I also added a some paper piecing to the woman on the far left. I used matching paper from the same paper pad. I added two pearls and a dark red crystal for some pretty bling. My card needed a little something more, so I decided to make my own color coordinated flower. I had this cute die cut flower set from My Favorite Things stamps, so I die cut them out, glued them together, and glued them in place on the lower right corner.
For the inside I stamped a matching sentiment that comes with the Girlfriend Blend stamp set SKU# 4132. I hope you have enjoyed this fun creation  made with fabulous Ai stamps. Thank you for stopping by the Ai blog today!

Challenge 87 - On the Fringe

Hello Ai Fans!

Before we get into our challenge details, we would like to take a virtual minute to think of those affected by Superstorm Sandy. We have two design team members on the East coast (Reneé and Kerry). We heard from Reneé the morning after and her family incurred minimal damage in New York. I heard from Kerry this morning and all is fine, so glad to hear! For anyone affected by the storm, we pray for peace after the chaos and strength moving forward.

This week, our challenge is "On the Fringe." We're actually looking for the frilly stuff but here are the definitions for your thoughts :)
On The Fringe
1. Lit. at the outer boundary or edge of something.
2. Fig. at the extremes of something, typically political thought.
McGraw-Hill Dictionary of American Idioms and Phrasal Verbs. © 2002 by The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc.
Since we won't get into the political thought :) ... let's see some EXTREME fringe! Push the boundary on those snips and cut to your heart's content! Give us some frill and curl those edges! Add a little fringe and upload your crafty creation to win! Check out the amazing cards from our DT this week!!!

Thank you design team for the AWESOME inspiration this week. Love all the different fabrics and frills! Such a talented group!!!

The winner from last week's "Scary Texture" challenge is ...
with this adorable "Totally Witchin'" card! Love all the tulle, dies and the added pin! Thank you for submitting Suzanne and contact me at kate@artimrpessions.com to receive a $10 coupon to artimpressions.com!

Here are the guidelines for our weekly challenges:
1. Please make a new card or creation. You can make any crafty item you wish; this is not limited to cards!
2. Limit two submissions per person. You will receive extra votes if you use Art Impressions stamps!
3. Include a link back to the Ai Blog or grab our button on the top left of our sidebar!
