Meet the Ai Design Team

Meet our Art Impressions Design Team! These amazing members bring you an individual post every week and provide beautiful inspiration for our Thursday challenges.

Cheri Burry - Canada
Hi Everyone! Cheri here from Cambridge, Ontario! I am fairly new to the stamp/crafting scene. I only started about 3 years ago when I retired from Long Term Care after 26 years. Since then there has been no stopping me! My favorite things to make are cards but lately I’ve been dabbling in the mixed media and art journaling craze as well! I’ve been married for 10 years to my amazing Husband and between us we have 4 grown children and 2 furry ones. I love paper crafting, reading, traveling and since I am Canadian, Tim Horton’s coffee! I’d have to say my favorite products to use are my Copic markers, stamps and 6x6 paper pads! Shhh, don’t tell anyone but I think I have an addiction! My first introduction to Ai stamps was at a class I took at a local scrapbook store. We made 4 cards using the “Girlfriends” line of Ai stamps and I’ve been hooked ever since! Their humor and wittiness are right up my alley! I am so excited to be part of this amazing Design Team for Ai!

Cheryl Valadez - New Mexico
Hello Happy Stampers! My name is Cheryl Valadez and I’m honored to be joining this fabulous team! I am lucky to live in sunny Albuquerque, NM, the Land of Enchantment. I have been a paper crafter for approximately 15 years. With absolutely no artistic abilities (and even less patience), I was drawn to rubber stamping because some lovely talented person had already done the hard work for me and with just a little color and a few details I could have a fun, finished card in a relatively short amount of time. I love a bit of humor and quirk in my card making and the Ai images deliver that in droves, plus they just plain ol’ make me smile! Besides having an insane addiction to paper, ink, and Copics, I am also the proud mom of 3 feline fur babies…Charlie (aka The Sweetest Girl in the World), Titus (aka Super Titus Devil Kitty), and Chica (aka Chica Catrina Wonder Gato). 19 years years ago, I married the man of my dreams who happens to be an artist in the kitchen and a bit of a barbecue guru. I am the luckiest girl in the world :)

Dana Warren - Brighton, MI
Hello, I’m Dana Warren and I live in Brighton, Michigan. I’m currently doing school full time and working in retail part time. I have been card making for about 11ish years or so and in 2011 (I think, hehe) I started my blog. Since then I have been lucky enough to be published, to be a part of a few different design teams and make some awesome friends along the way! I am mainly a card maker and my great crafty love is stamping, so I really love my stamps and inks! I love mixing stamping with different techniques and products, for example: stencils, dies, pattern paper, ink, paint and embellishments. A love of coloring has grown over the past couple years, I love using Distress Markers and Copics. I was first drawn to Ai stamps because of the hilarious sentiments, I mean who doesn’t love a funny card! And of course they have awesome images to go with the funny sentiments!! I’m so excited to be a part of the Ai Design Team and looking forward to sharing my cards with all the Ai fans!!
Diane Zechman - Towanda, PA
Hello! I am Diane Zechman from northeastern Pennsylvania and I am happy to have the opportunity to share my paper-crafting projects with you. In a few months I will have been happily married to my wonderful husband for 30 years. We have two daughters who are both married now which leaves us as empty-nesters except for one spoiled little dog! I’m also known as "Cookiestamper" on the internet because I love cookies and in the past I've enjoyed creating designs on them with a collection of cookie stamps.
I have been actively rubber stamping and paper-crafting since the year 2000 and was quickly hooked on this hobby! Along the way I have been blessed to be a part of several design teams which started with the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen in 2005. I love working with many different styles, creating cards and various 3-D items. I enjoy doing different techniques (one of my faves is paper piecing) and designing my own templates. Some of my favorite products are the Scor-Pal, Copic markers, and dies. I enjoy all styles of stamps but I am especially drawn to whimsical images. Art Impressions has wonderful characters, which paired with their witty sentiments just make me chuckle and hopefully bring a smile to others. I am honored to be working with Art Impressions and I hope you enjoy the projects I will create!

Jil Lebel - Kissimmee, FL
Hi guys! I'm Jil Lebel from Kissimmee, Florida. I'm about 20 minutes away from Walt Disney World & take full advantage of that fact by visiting the parks all the time. I've been married to the love of my life Joey for ten years now. We have two grown sons & several cats & dogs. I started stamping about 25 years ago when I was pregnant with my first son Kane, when I worked in a craft store. I learned how to heat emboss a rubber stamped image over a toaster & I was hooked on card making! I was on the Posh Impressions Design team many years ago. I did samples, make & takes, demos & classes for many stamp stores in Central Florida. I love to work with a little bit of everything but all types of water coloring are my favorite. I have had a long love affair with Ai stamps. I bought some Ai watercolor stamps to make faux postage in the early 2000's & now I have the entire watercolor collection. I also love the humor & animated faces of the Ai characters & look to them for funny cards. I am delighted to be a part of the Ai design team!

Karen Day - Canada
Hello everyone! I'm Karen Day from just north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I'm a clothing designer by profession, but became a stay-at-home Mom when I started my family. I've been married for 19 years, and my husband and I have a 17 year old son who will be off to university in the fall, and a 15 year old daughter. For the last few years I've worked part time as a Home Stager, and now have a part time job at our local library as well. I've always enjoyed crafting, and grew up drawing, colouring, doing embroidery, sewing - you name it, and I am an avid knitter (I occasionally put something I've knit on a card!). My absolute favourite thing to do on a card is to use my sewing machine. I have made all my own cards since I was a teenager, and it is definitely my favourite hobby. I've been learning to use Copic markers for about the last year, which is when I discovered Art Impressions stamps (it was love at first sight!), the fun images and sassy sayings are just my cup of tea. I am thrilled to be part of the AI design team, and look forward to sharing my creations with you.

Kerry Kung - New Hampshire
Hello, my name is Kerry Kung and I live in Southern New Hampshire. A bit about myself, I married my wonderful husband on April Fool day on a white sand beach in Aruba (and nope, it's not a joke). No kids for me yet, but I do have a 15+ years lovebird and a black adorable kitty. I started scrapbooking about 8 years ago and then 5 years ago... I found out about stamping and oh boy.... I'm so in trouble, haha!!! I work full time, so that I support my 'bad habit' buying craft goodies, hehe!!! I love all things related to paper craft, but my favorites are Ranger Distress ink pads, Copic markers, watercolor, paints, die cuts, washi paper tape, and much more. I'm super excited to be a part of the Ai team and have the opportunity to create with these variety of stamps. From the super fun Ai people which totally make me giggle and smile, to the stunning Watercolor series.

Renee Matarese - New York
Hello, I'm ReneĆ© Matarese and I'm from the upstate NY area near Binghamton. I've been married to Tom since 1995 and we have two children, Dominick (13) and Makena (almost 12). I started cardmaking in 2005.  My cousin came over for lunch and gave me a card-making lesson.  (I already was scrapbooking at that point.)  I thought "well, that was fun but I just don't see myself making cards." I couldn't be more wrong.  There was a family birthday shortly after my "lesson" and I decided to make the card.  I haven't bought a card since.  I always loved art growing up and took every art class possible in H.S. and one in college.  My favorite thing to do was just sketch with a pencil...until I started making cards and now I'm obsessed!  Something I couldn't live without is my Cuttlebug!  My CB is so important to me because I don't think I'd know how to make card without a Spellbinders die or an embossing folder. I also LOVE my border punch collection and I'm constantly adding to that!!  My one true weakness is paper.  My paper collection is out of control.  My favorite style to design in is vintage/shabby chic but I'm always willing to try anything which is why I love challenges!  I discovered Art Impressions shortly after I started making cards.  At the time I used to just buy whatever stamps were in my local craft store. The selections were not great and soon I had everything I wanted.  I decided to go on line and look.  I believe I Googled "funny stamps" (because I love sending humorous cards) and AI popped up everywhere. I took a look and was soon hooked!!  I owned hundreds of AI stamps before I became a designer for them. My absolute favorites are the golden oldies!! I'd love to see some new ones added in that category... ; ) This is truly my "Dream Team" and I've loved every minute that I've worked for this wonderful company!

Sharon Caudle - Nevada
Hi! My name is Sharon Caudle and I am over the moon happy to be joining this amazingly talented team!! I reside in the biggest little city in the world - Reno, NV, where the sun shines about 320 days every year. I am lucky enough to be married to my soul mate, and we share five wonderful children and almost (one on the way) seven grandchildren! During the day, I'm the office manager for a regional trucking company based in the northwest. And at night, you can usually find me sitting at my craft area, many times with a grandchild in my lap. Cardmaking became a part of my life when I bought my first Cricut, but I was drawn into the wonderful world of stamping about 9 years ago when I discovered Copic markers. Wanna talk addiction?? LOL! I simply must color every day. Also high on my list is paper, flowers, ribbon, and my Silhouette. Witty cards have always been one of my weaknesses, so when I laid eyes on Art Impressions stamps, it was love at first sight!! The personalities of AI images draw me in and I just can't get enough of them! I'm super excited to be able to share my creations with you. :)
