A window of Memories- Finding comfort in the quiet moments

Hello Crafty Friends,

Some cards are created simply for the joy of crafting, while others come from a much deeper place in our hearts. This card is one of those special creations for me.
I was inspired to make this card during a time when I was grieving the loss of my dad, who passed away on Monday, November 2nd, 2026.

Sometimes, when words are hard to find, making something with our hands can be a way to express the feelings we carry inside. I wanted to capture a peaceful moment, looking through a window at the beauty of autumn, with a candle glowing beside an open Bible. To me, the scene represents remembrance, faith, and the comfort we find in quiet moments. My dad was a man of deep faith and I hope this card serve as a tribute to his life's journey, his love of GOD and the way I will always remember him.

Let me walk you through how I created this card.

Creating the Window Scene

Step 1 – Creating the window mask and the shelf.

I started by creating a template of an arched window. I used this template to mask the window area while working on the background. Then, I created another template to help me draw the shelf at the bottom of the window.

One important detail was making sure both sides of the shelf had exactly the same angle. Using a template helped me keep the perspective balanced and made the shelf look more realistic.

Step 2 – Stamping the autumn scenery

With the window area protected, I used the 5826- WC large tree stamp 2 and the smallest stamp of the 5373-WC Lg tree stamp set to create the scenery outside the window.

I wanted to give the impression of looking out at a peaceful autumn landscape, with evergreens in the distance and beautiful fall foliage surrounding the view. I used soft, muted colors (Tombow markers) to keep the scene calm and dreamy. For the stamps over the shelf I reached for two beautiful Bible Journaling stamp sets.

- I used the Bible from the 5066-Light to my Path stamp set and positioned it on the shelf.
- I added the candle holder from the 6126-Light of the World stamp set, placing it beside the Bible.

These two elements were especially meaningful to me. Together, they represent faith, hope, and the light that can guide us through difficult moments.
Finally, I used a ruler to create the wooden panel over the wall, and I chose to paint the wall in white.

Step 3 – Creating the window frame

Once the wall background was complete, I removed the masking window template and worked on defining the window frame. First, I wanted the window to be white, but then I switched it to a brown wooden frame; this helped to bring the entire scene together while providing a warmer atmosphere.

Step 4 – Adding the watermarks to the window

One of the last details I added was the watermarks on the window panes. I wanted the glass to look as though it had been touched by a little rain or morning condensation. I also added additional details to the wood paneling. These small details add texture and help create the feeling of looking outside on a quiet autumn day.

Step 5 – Matting and assembling the card

Once everything was completed, I trimmed the card to be 3 7/8 x  5 1/8 inches and I added a thin blue mat around the artwork to frame the scene and to give it a little definition. Finally, I attached the finished panel to an A2 card base.

I love how this card turned out, but what makes it special to me goes beyond the stamps, colors, and techniques.

Creating it gave me a moment to slow down, remember my dad, and find a little comfort in the creative process. The autumn scenery, the open Bible, and the gentle glow of the candle all came together to create a scene that feels peaceful and meaningful.

Sometimes, art gives us a way to express what our hearts cannot put into words. And sometimes, the cards we create become little reminders of the people we love and the memories we carry with us.

Second Card - Simply Fall

For my second project, I made an A2 card using the 6257-Happy Fall along with the Story Tile Template Die-6158. To color the stamps, I used watercolor pencils and a few Tombow markers for the flowers from 6271-Floral Set 7 and 4051-WC Foliage Set 1.

I hope you like both of my cards. While creating these cards, I learned that in times of sadness, having the ability to create gives you the power to heal. Art is like medicine for the soul—it might not take all the pain away, but it helps take your mind off things

Thank you for stopping by and sharing this creative moment with me. ❤️
