So Sweet Armfuls of Honey w/ Hexagon Shaped Card by Lynn Dionne

Happy Wednesday Ai Fans!!!

Watch video tutorial here!!!

Today's card was inspired by the current Ai "Panda-Monium!" Blog Challenge which is to create black and white cards! But you can certainly add an additional pop of color as we will be doing today! So, I thought it would be fun to create a hexagon style card using the brand-new Ai So Sweet Armful Set (5904). This little set includes the sweet bear that we will be using today as well as an elephant and a few items for these critters to hold which include a cupcake and a heart. There is also sentiment that says, "You're so sweet!" and we will be using that on the inside of the card. You will love these "armful" images because they come with the coordinating dies that will cut a slit above and below the arms so that they can hold the cupcake or heart...or anything else you would like!

Let's start by creating our hexagon card base using the Ai Hexagon Double Stitched Dies (5135) and black 100lb cardstock. I'll give you a few tricks and tips for creating this fun shaped card design in today's video!

Let's also die cut some smaller hexagons out of some white 100lb cardstock. For the smaller one we will be adding some beautiful yellow Vicki Boutin texture paste with a hexagon pattern using a honeycomb stencil. This will add so much texture and interest to our card. After the paste has dried completely, we can add some Distress Oxide in Wild Honey around the edges of our two layers.

Now that our card base and layers are complete, we can stamp our "armful" bear and some little bees from the Ai Birds and Bugs Set (5561). We can also stamp a vase from the Ai WC Small Container Set (4869) to hold some sweet honey!

Now we can color in all of these images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Pink Haze, Haze Blue, Yellow, Mustard, Lt Brown, Blue Gray, Lt Gray, Warm Gray 6. All of these images have coordinating dies so we can easily cut them out! Don't forget to add a bit of sparkle to the wings of the bees using the Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen.

Let's go ahead and add the little pot of honey to our bear and add some Scrapbook.com Pops of Color in Sunshine to the top of the pot. This will give the look and dimension of some honey in the jar!

We can pop-up the bear and bees and add some black and white baker's twine to bring in the challenge color combination a bit more!

For a finishing touch, we can add another small hexagon on the inside of the card, add a bit of ink around the edges, stamp the sentiment, and add one more bee!

We hope you join us in this fun challenge...we would love to see what you create!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  Have a fun and crafty day!!!
