Watercolor Weekend 9-4-2021

Hello and welcome to the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend Roundup!!

Karen and Dot have fall on their minds while Tricia is still holding onto to summer.  What is your favorite season to see on a card?  If you love fall you should check out the latest FB live videos from Bonnie and Kendra.

Now, lets check out what our Watercolor Design Team has for you today.

                                                                              Hello Ai Watercolor fans!

I've created a fall scene with the 5433 - WC Foundations Door set today:

I began by cutting my Canson XL Watercolor paper with the largest of the 5063 -A2 Stitched Rectangle dies, and put it into my Misti.  This allowed me to place the large Foundation stamp exactly where I wanted it on the paper, and then I coloured it with my Tombow #969/565 combination and stamped it.  Being a large stamp, it's easy to miss an area, so any part that didn't stamp completely, I could stamp it again while it was still in the Misti.  After pulling out the colour with a damp brush, I then added the pumpkin from 5059 - WC Harvest set, masking off the pot, and colouring it in #228 Gray Green, and again in #946 Gold Ochre.  I used the cluster from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to fill the upper left pot in #565/228.  The wheat sheaf from 4763 - Southwest in #991 Light Ochre filled the tall pot, and the leaves stamp from Flower Set - 4052 in #565 filled the rounded pot.  The two foliage stamps from 4605 - Spring Basket were stamped in #228 over the door in all directions, sometimes colouring just half of the stamp to vary the lengths.  I used the daisy bunch from 4605 in #946 to add clusters of flowers over the door, and in the smallest pot, then used two of the branches from 4964 - WC Branches Set with #969 to add branches over the door and to the tall pot.  With the tiny green from 5009, and #228, I added greenery to the small pot, and then used it with #312 Holly Green to stamp the heart shaped wreath on the door.

With all of the stamping done, I now painted in all of my images, pulling colour from my palette to paint the terra cotta pots in #947 Burnt Sienna, #N57 Warm Grey 5 to the pots and watering can, and #312 to the rounded pot, going back several times to add layers of colour.  The door was painted with #992 Sand and #969, first with a wash, then streaks of colour to imitate a woodgrain.  The walls of the house were painted with a wash of #990 Light Sand.  I used #565 to add shadows around all of the images, under and around the door, and on the stairs.  I used my Twintone Navy marker to draw the ribbon to hang the wreath, add lines to the door, and to darken areas that had been painted out.  I added a little grass, and a few dots with a marker to finish my scene.

Hey watercolor fans! This week I am showing a card I did quite a while ago because I am in the middle of a move. I am going to try to make it short and sweet. Thanks so much for stopping by and spending some time watercoloring with us!

First, I started off inking up one of the bridges from the Bridge set with 969. I pulled the color out of the lines. To darken some of the shadows, I added some 969 from my palette. Next, I added the sand using 912 and 873 from my palette. I built up the layers to create a shadow at the edge of the water. I used 565 for the sky and the water. Slowly build up the color to create shadows . Using a watered down version of the blue I pushed it around the sky to create clouds. Lastly, I inked the grasses from the Garden Wagon Mini set with 177 and 925 and stamped it on either side of the bridge. Finally, I signed and dated my work. I hope you enjoyed this simple yet beautiful painting! Hope you have a crafty day and we can’t wait to see what you create! SUPPLIES:

 Hi,

I am so excited for Fall so I made another fall themed card using stamps from Art Impressions.

If you want to make this, use a pencil to draw in your borders from the largest hexagon die 5135. Stamp the swing from the 5195 Swing Set inked in Tombow 969 then 565, after stamping it off on scratch paper. Stamp the pumpkin in the center from the 5426 Veggies Set inked in 969 then make a mask and cover it. Next, stamp the other pumpkin to one side. Stamp the other pumpkin from the 5059 Harvest Set. Stamp the basket from the Harvest set inked in both 565 and 969, cover the top with a post-it note, then stamp the apples inked in 969. Use a branch from the 4964 Branches Set inked in 969 to climb the post. Next stamp the leaves from the 5126 Foliage Set 4 inked in 933 and then stamp them again, inked in 993 so you get a nice mix of yellow and orange. Stamp the fox from the 5016 Mini Critter Set inked in 969. Pull the color out of the lines on everything, then color the swing cushions and stripes, barrel and one pumpkin in with my most favorite green/blue color, 312. Color one pumpkin and the fox with with 933. Darken the fox with 969 and be sure to darken the eyes, nose and ears and the pumpkin stems with the Twin Tone brown pen. Color the basket with 969. Color the apples with 837 leaving a white spot on each that you then color in with the 993. Color the leaves with 177. Darken the stems of the apples with the Twin Tone brown pen. Stamp the red flowers from the 4868 Flower Set 2 inked in 837. Stamp the yellow foliage from the 5126 Foliage Set 4 inked in 993. Stamp the foliage from the 5059 Harvest Set inked in 947. Use the grass from the 4051 Foliage Set 1 inked in 192 all around and then watercolor some in to cover the ground area. Use 565 to color in your sky and shadows. Use a pencil and a ruler to draw in the wire holding the swing.
