Hello and welcome to the Ai Blog today! Is it cool and crisp in your "neck of the woods" today? It's the beginning of what I affectionately (not!) call the long winter stretch. Today's card seeks to find the beauty in the snowy weather and hopefully evokes a cozy house or cabin in you past or present.
The image today is from the 2023 Scenic Foundations line. This cabin beauty is called 5819-SF Snowy Cabin. Although the line is perfectly suited for water color, I find these scenes work beautifully for other mediums too. The trees and bushes are from stamps included in the 5791-WC Snow Globe Set. They were the perfect size for this scene. I colored my scene with Copic Sketch markers. I kept it holiday free and this scene, plain as it is, represents a typical cold winter day in January. After coloring, I embellished it with a paste infused with crystal beads and glitter. The photos really don't do justice to the pretty sparkle this achieves when moved in the light. I am giving this one to one of my best girlfriends tomorrow. She always bemoans that her birthday is when everyone's Christmas Visa bills come in. I guess she's right but that's no reason not to celebrate her winter birthday with something pretty and handmade just for her!
This was very fun to color and made me think about the 18 years we lived in the Minneapolis area. People love their cabins in the state of 10,000 lakes and we enjoyed being guests with many friends while we lived there. Great memories!
