Welcome watercolor fans to Watercolor Weekend!  Thank you so much for joining us for another exciting weekend full of inspirational projects.  I created a Flowering Bicycle to help you get over the winter blues.

PROJECT DETAILS

First, I started off by inking the larger bicycle with Dark Blue and Brown. To ensure that wasn't too dark, I stamped it off.  Then I stamped it onto my watercolor paper.  I pulled the color out of the lines and added some additional color from my palette.

I added some Mauve to the bicycle and Dark Blue and Brown to the tires.  I also added some brown to the seat and basket for added interest.  Next, I inked up the blooms from Flower Set 4 with Purple and Green.  I stamped it several times to the left side of the basket.  For the larger blooms, I inked them in Pink and stamped them several times inside of the basket, making sure to leave room for the leaves.  I repeated this on the smaller basket inked in Purple.  I added water to all of the blooms.

To create a background that looked like fence, I inked the wood slats from the Wall Texture set with Brown and some Dark Blue, stamped it off and, using my positioner, added it around the bicycle.  I added water to wash out the slats so they were less prominent.

To create the foliage, I inked up the small vine with Green and stamped it around the blooms and over the top of the basket.  I added water to the leaves.  I added some Brown under the slats and below the bicycle to ground it.  Next, I added Green to the small grasses and stamped them on the ground.

Lastly, I inked the "Stop and Smell The Flowers!" sentiment with Brown and Green and, using my MISTI, stamped it to the right of the bicycle.  Last but not least, I signed and dated my project.

Thank you so much for joining us this weekend.  I hope you were inspired to create a spring project of your own.

Have a crafty day!

Hello,

I made this card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend
You can check out the Ai blog to see what my teammates and I make twice a month.

If you would like to try out this card, first stamp the chest from the 4604 Chest Set inked in brown Tombow 969 then 565 and stamp it off on a piece of scratch paper first. Next stamp the elf from the 5125 Elves Set inked in 969 and using the stamp positioner.

Then use a pencil to draw in some gold coins and to draw in lines for the rainbow. Drag the color out of the lines on the chest then watercolor the lid inside with 565 and the band and lock in 969. The chest itself is watercolored with 177. I used the blue Tombow TwinTone to color in the lock and draw back the lines in the chest lid.

I painted the coins with Gold watercolor then outlined them with a fine tip Copic marker. Color your rainbow in the correct order using ROYGBV - Tombow 885, Marvy 49, Marvy 43, Tombow 177, Tombow 526, Tombow 679. Paint a little sky with the 526. Color the elf's hair Marvy 49. His pants and hat are 177. His shirt is 679 but then I drew stripes with the blue Tombow Twintone pen. His shoes and skin is 969. Don't forget a little blush on his cheek with the 885 and draw his eyelash in with the blue Tombow Twintone.

Stamp the grasses from the 5007 Foliage Set 3 in the 177.  Use 565 for some shadows under the grasses and chest. The sentiment is from the Shamrock Set 5006. I used the 5063 Rectangle Double Stitched Dies and 5065 Oval Double Stitched Dies for the background pieces. Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Hello Ai Watercolor Fans!

I went CAS for my 'green' card this week!

I began by taping a piece of Ranger Watercolor paper onto a board, and after masking off the top 2/3, I ink blended some Crushed Olive and Mowed Lawn Distress inks for my grass.  I switched the mask to the bottom 1/3, and blended Tumbled Glass and Salty Ocean, keeping a white area just off-center. (This paper is a bright white, and kept my ink colours bright and clear!)

I used the smaller bicycle from 5124 - WC Bicycle Set, coloured it with my #N45 Cool Grey 10 Tombow marker and used my Stamp Positioner to place it where the white 'halo' area was, making sure that it sat just above the grass line.  I used my damp brush to pull out the colour in all the metal bars, then picked up #N25 Lamp Black and painted in the wheels and seat.  I added #856 Chinese Red to the handlebars and fenders.  With the small leafy green from 5074 - Bible Flower Set, I masked off the basket, then stamped it repeatedly in #177 Dark Jade.  I used the same #177 and the grass from 5372 - WC Mini Foliage Set to stamp grass around the tires.  A touch of #565 Deep Blue added shadows to the white basket, and on the bike.

I used the green and black ink on my palette to spatter some ink on my scene, then stamped the sentiment from the Exclusive Daisies Set and die cut it with a decorative rectangle die.  The scene is adhered to my white card base with 3D foam adhesive.

Hope you enjoyed this weekend's inspiration, and Happy Stamping!
