Watercolor Garden Window MTF by Carol Hintermeier

Hello Ai Fans!

Today I have a sweet notecard that can be used for many occasions, or just because, to send to a friend. I've used the Garden Window MTF (mini TryFold) for this card.

Since I wanted to watercolor this, I used Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper and created my card base following the directions on the back of the packaging.  This is a smooth paper (as opposed to the texture of watercolor paper) that can take some water which is just right for this technique that doesn't require a lot of water.

I stamped the images in Versafine Onyx Black ink as that will take water without bleeding.  I also used a stamp from the WC Wall Texture set to add a bit of detail around the window.  I added my color with my Zig and pulled out a bit of the color--you know--watercolor the Ai way!  :)  I used Tombow and Zig Clean Color Brush markers to color everything.  I've listed the colors at the end of this post.

Here's a tip for you.  Follow the directions on the back of the package for die cutting and lining up the next stamp.  However, before you stamp it, put a piece of acetate down and stamp on the acetate.  If you click on the photo you will see it closer and see my pencil lines.  I adjusted the stamp just a bit to have the curtain more centered over the pencil lines (see the arrows).

This is the view when you open the top panel.

Now, as you can see here on the inside view, I didn't stamp the image directly onto the base card.  Well, actually I did.  In spite of my best efforts, I still didn't get it lined up to my satisfaction, so here's another tip for you.  If you don't get that last image lined up just right, stamp it again on some scrap paper and die cut it, then glue it in place.  I didn't want to totally start over, so I'm glad I thought of this!  I think it actually adds a pretty touch to the inside!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope you have a fabulous crafty week!

Watercolor markers:

Garden Window by Cheri Burry!

Happy Friday Ai Fans!
Today I am trying my hand at Watercoloring my cards using some Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I still need lots of practice but I have to admit how fun they are! I also wanted to show you a different way to use the "Garden Window MTF" stamp set.
The Garden Window set is actually a set to make a Mini Try-fold card. Instead of creating a try-fold card, I decided to just use the main image and add a cute puppy from the "WC Dog set" peeking out the window. I started by stamping the window with Stazon Black ink on watercolor paper. I stamped it a second time on a post-it-note to create a mask so I could add the puppy in the window. Next I used my markers, a water brush and the Ai "Watercolor Palette" and watercolored my image. I added some Yellow Stickles to the flower middles for that tiny bit of sparkle.
I made a set of 3 coordinating cards and tied them together with some white ribbon. I think it'll make a nice gift. I actually used the sentiment from the Girlfriends "Bench" stamp set.
Zig Clean Color Colours Used:
Light Blue, Cobalt, Lilac
Yellow, Mustard, Beige
Deep Green, Light Green, Flesh Colour
Light Carmine, Light Pink
Dark Brown, Blue Grey

It's always fun to see how you can use your stamps differently then intended to get the most out of your sets!
Happy Stamping!

kitty in the window by Diane Zechman

Hello Ai friends and happy Thursday!

Today I am sharing a card using one of the Ai Mini TryFolds.  Here I used the Garden Window MTF Set (4760) .

I love how these sets have 2 dies to coordinate with the images so you can peek through the layers to the last image on the inside. They are so fun!

The largest image (window here) goes on the card front and the inside of the window frame was die cut.

When you open the first fold, there's a set of curtains on the second panel.  The center of this image was die cut as well.

When completely open, the smallest image is on the inside.  This set has a sweet kitten sleeping on a chair.

Be sure to check out the Mini TryFolds line for more fun Ai images!  Have a great day and… happy stamping!

Challenge 185 "Layer It On Me" Week 2!

Hello, Ai Fans!

It's week two of our new challenge "Layer It On Me," celebrating the release of our three beautiful new Mini TryFolds and two Clasp Keepers! Mini TryFolds include dies that cut out openings that reveal the image behind it in a lovely layered card. Clasp Keepers are intricate belly bands that add decoration and keep a card closed for the recipient.
