Paper Piecing with Style

For my card today, I'm combing one of the new AI People images from the summer CHA release with Style.  I just love this woman's confidence and poise. I think this sentiment captures her mood.  :o)  I stamped the image with Memento black ink onto Gina K Pure Luxury 120lb Heavy Base Weight Card Stock.  I stamped  her a second time onto design paper and cut out her leotard.

Copics used:
  • skin: E11, E13, R21
  • hair band and top of shoes: R8, R24
  • hair, bottom of shoes: C3, C5, C7, C9
  • shading in white areas and on design paper: C1
I cut the main image using a Spellbinders die cut. The design paper is from BasicGrey. I used Sakura metallic pens for her lip stick and earring.  I used VersaFine to stamp the sentiment.
Please check with your local stamp or scrap booking store for availability of the AI images released at CHA. You can also check at Art Impressions in mid August for new AI people.

Please stop by tomorrow to see what Crystal has to share!!

Thank you for visiting!!

Take care and STAY POSITIVE!

Thinking of You Iris

Every once in a while someone you know just needs a little pick-me-up right? I thought that this beautiful Giant Iris and Thinking of You verse from Art Impressions were perfect for that.

If you look closely you can see that the frame and Iris are popped up on dimensional foam.  I love that you're able to give handmade cards a 3-D look that store bought cards just don't offer.

Tools and accessories:
Spellbinders: frame, label and border dies
Copic markers
wired ribbon
flat back pearls
pigment ink for distressing the paper edges

Glamour is a state of mind!

I just love this Agnes stamp from Art Impressions.   I thought she'd be perfect paired with the State of Mind verse.  This is the last note card in my Sister-in-law's set.  Hope you enjoyed them.

As you can see,  I kept them all the same color scheme and I used the photo/color inspiration for last week's challenge for them.  I wish I could see her face when she opens them and reads all the funny verses.  I know she's going to love them.

Still Sizzlin !!!!

Today 's card turned out so cute , sometimes when getting ready to create a card I have and idea already and sometimes the just happen before my eyes , this card just happened and I love how it turned out and yes I had to step away several times while making it and that only helps the process. I am using BBQ CS3464 , it is one of the Ai Clear stamps , I love the red rubber stamps but the clear stamps are awesome too , I bought this set because I have something in mind and it will require a clear stamp ( coming soon ). I condition all my clear stamps before I use them the first time , I run an eraser over them and this will get that film off them that makes your ink bead up on clear stamps then I wipe it with a baby wipe and its ready to use , I always ink them up and stamp off on scrap paper a few times until the lines are crisp and ready to use . I colored my image with copic markers and for the apron on her I stamped on pattern paper and cut out and layered over my already colored image. The fork ,knife and spoon were cut from the Cricut from the chore chart cartridge the front ones are cut a 2 1/4" and the inside ones were cut at 4".
Stamps: BBQ CS3464
Copic Markers : E000 , E00 , E11 , E13 , E25BG0000 , R29 , R37 , RV10 , RV32 , RV34 , B41 , B93 , C1 , W1 , W5 , YG63 , YR14 , YR65 , Y28
Cricut cartridge : Chore Chart
Accessories : seam binding ribbon , SU labels dies , corner rounder , glue dots , foam tape , gelly roll clear star glitter pen , glossy accents

Isn't he adorable?  I love his expression.  Here's a sneak peek in a line called AI Zoo Crew. The giraffe and sentiment are part of the Art Impressions CHA summer release. I colored him with Tombow Dual Brush Pens (603 and N00).  I attended a class with Bonnie and Kate last week at Creative Cuts and Crafts in Elmhurst and this is one of the cards we made. We had a ball! There are so many cute images in the release! Please check with your local stamp or scrap booking store for availability.

Please come back tomorrow and see what Crystal has for you!!

I have colored the Wallowing Pig with copic markers. He looks like he is wiped out. So I have used the sentiment Busy Day to explain how he must be feeling!
Due to things that have come up  at home, next monday will be my last posting here at AI. I have enjoyed my time here and enjoyed meeting the gals online a little!

Don't hate me because I'm beautiful!

Hello everyone,  I'm here with another
card that was inspired by yesterday's new
Art Impressions challenge.  (see yesterday's
post just below this one.)
I made a set of note cards
for my sister-in-law that were
inspired by the colors in the "seeds" packet.

I kept my cards very simple and I think
the embossing gave them just the right
amount of zing with the image and verses
being the real shining stars of the cards.

My card features:

Tools and accessories:
Cuttlebug embossing folder
Copic markers

Shake n Bake

Hello to all my scrappy friends !! Today I made a card using the “Chic Trio ” U1876 , these girls are friends of a feather and the are having a blast shaking their tail feathers , no harm no fowl…. ( ha ha could not resist ) Friends of a feather stick together..okay enough of the fowl humor .. haha last one I promise . I love coloring these Art Impression stamps they make me so happy and giddy hence the humor , when I color these stamps they make me think , today these girlfriends are taking their friend out for a much-needed girls night out for her Birthday , shaking those tail feathers and having a great time. The card base is a 6″ x 6″ ( this is a huge stamp ) , I chose to do some stitching around the card base and then add layers , the top layer is embossed with my favorite SU embossing folder ( square lattice ) , this folder gives great texture and it bt far my favorite. I added a tulle hot pink bow and then added grommits around the 3 sides , the flower is a hand-made flower with glimmer mist ( I will show how to make this at a latter date ) ,I then added some pink boa feathers and leaves. Inside the card I used the largest Peony spellbinder die in white and added faux black stitching and the sentiment Shake n Bake F1852 and added white stitching around the whole die .Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow for the Ai Thursday Challenge , see what the Ai design team and whipped up this time for you .
Stamps : ” Chic” Trio U1876 , Shake n Bake F1852
Copic markers :T1 , B00 , B41 , B93 , BG10 , BG13 , BV02 , BV04 , YR00 , YR68 , YR14 , RV10 , RV11 , RV23 , RV34 , Y11 , Y35 , R02 , R22 , R29
Ink : Tim Holtz worn lipstick , memento tuxedo black ( image if using Copic markers ) , stazon jet Black ( sentiment )

Can I Borrow Some of Your Weight Watcher points (plus)?

I've tried this - it does not work. :o) Everyone has to count his/her own points.  I had fun coloring this little scene using a variety of mediums. I used Copics Markers, Spectrum Noir Markers Distress Ink Pads,  chalks, and more...

When coloring with a variety of mediums, here are some general tips:
  • Color with alcohol inks first, so you do not risk damaging the tip.
Use a light touch, build color.
  • Considering if mediums are wet or dry...If wet, need to work timely to blend. If dry, have more time.
  • Start with a small amount, you can always add more.
  • Combine two or more!! No limit on mediums per art piece!!   Use your artistic license and have fun!

Here' what I did:
  • Laid down color with markers first (to identify colors, I underlined Copic, and to the right of the "-"  are the Spectrum Noir) . I colored skin & glasses (C3, C5, E000, E00, E11, E13, R21);  hair E08, 57, E77, E79 - TN8, DR7); dishes & table cloth BG11, BG13, C1; cake, hats, dresses R24, R81, Y11, Y13 - PL1, PL2; lipstick R24 - DR7
  •  Use pastels on dresses and hats
  •  Use metallic pens on jewelry
  •  To create shadow around scene, use blender tool with vintage photo Distress Ink pad - light touch
The design paper is from BasicGrey.

Valentines in July???

So I ordered this Valentines stamp not realizing what it said until I got it. So when life gives you lemons you make lemonade right?? I trimmed off the edges where the greeting was and colored the image with copic markers. Then I turned it into a Anniversary card. I wish I had a spunky saying about hanging out your undies but I dont show Happy Anniversary will have to do.
I used Life is a breeze and around the edge of the green rose border .
Happy Stamping!
