Tryfold Tutorial

Hi it's Maria and I'm here today to show you a new line of stamps that we have at Art Impressions has called Tryfolds. There is nothing quite like these stamps on the market and I thought you might be interested in a step-by-step tutorial on how to use them.

At present, there are five different sets of Tryfolds:
Harvest, Cottage, Lakehouse, Garden and Village

Here are the add on's: Furries and Feathers

Are you ready??
Let's make a card using the Village Set.
It would be the perfect Christmas card for you to make this year.
Unique, Fun and easy!!

Let's get started by making the base for your card:

  • Cut white cardstock to 11” x 6”. Score at 5 ½”. This will form your base.
  • Cut Green snowflake paper to 5 ¾” x 5 ¼”. Glue onto front card base. NOTE: Rotate your piece to fit perfectly sizes are similar.
  • Cut red plaid paper to 1 ½”” x 5 ¾”. Add to left side of the card as shown.
  • Add bow by wrapping the bow ends around the green snowflake paper and glue in back. Now mount the green snowflake paper to your card base. Add a glue dot under the bow knot to keep in place. Set this base aside for later.

Time to make the Tryfold:

  • Cut white cardstock to 5 ¼” x 11”. Score at 3 5/8” from each end. This will make three equal sections—DO NOT fold.

  • Stamp the Houses image in the center panel approximately ½” from the top and centered. Stamp sentiment and optional mice under the houses.

  • Flip card over. Stamp the Snowman image on the right panel. It should be stamped next to the score line and 1 1/2” from the top of the card. Ink and stamp the Tree with bench image on the left panel. It should be stamped next to score line 2” from top.
  • Color images. We used Marvy Markers using the Art Impressions Watercolor method using a palette and colors #15, #28, #45, #40.
    Coloring Tip:
If you alcohol based markers like Copics they will bleed through and be seen on the other side. No worries--just take a piece of your left over patterned paper and glue it to the inside of your card before you do the cutting around the images in the next step.

Cutting Around the Images:
  • Fold Tryfold base at two score lines.
  •  On the left (snowman panel) cut around image. See photo. Do the same with the right panel (trees/bench). Fold card.

  • Glue finished Tryfold to the front of the card base you made previously (with the bow) only gluing the center section to the base.
  • We added some self-adhesive gem stones to the tree fun some extra fun.

 Now it's your turn!
We would LOVE to see what you do with the Tryfolds
After you try one post a picture on our Facebook page so we can see your creation.

Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

Hi it's Maria.
Keeping in the theme of our weekly challenge from yesterday I made another type of gift card to share with you. This one is called a pop-up gift card and I thought I'd give you a little tutorial incase you haven't made one before. Hoping you will try this and enter one into our challenge this week!

Outside of Card
(Standard A2 Card)
Unfortunately, it is hard to photograph projects sometimes and you can't see that the brown frosting is all sparkles on the cake.
Inside When Card is Open

Start with a 8.5" x 5.5" piece of cardstock and score at 4.75".
This will be your card base--a regular A@ card.
You will then need a 6" x 5.5" piece of cardstock that you will score at 1.5", 3", 3.75", 4.75", 4.75" and 5.5". IMPORTANT--make sure you are scoring on the 6" side of your carstock. It won't work the other way.
Fold your lines as follows:
Add your adhesive as follows: you can see where my sticky tape is on the green paper.
Insert your pop up into your card!
Here's a sample I made in white to show you the finished inside. Card is flat when closed.
Enjoy your weekend!!!!

Bikers

Happy Friday Everyone!
It's Maria and today I'm here with a fun couple that is called Bikers. In a few years, I hope my husband and I will still be having a "wild" time like these two!

A pretty simple card overall. Just a little color blocking in the background and the image was colored with Copics.

Hoping you have some "wild" times with your significant other this weekend!

You can purchase it HERE.

I used some paper piecing and colored the rest of the card with Copics.

OWH Blog Hop

How’s Hoppin’? Welcome to the Art Impressions page! We’re glad you could join us!  We participated in OWH’s last blog hop and are excited to join once again.

Yesterday, one of our employees heard word of a friend who died in Afghanistan on Thursday. He was 23 and coming home in three weeks to be married to his beautiful bride. On this Memorial weekend, we ask that you pray for his family and fiancé. May they have peace and comfort during this tragic time.

We are very passionate about our support for those who are serving for us. It's our family, our friends, that are laying their life on the line. We appreciate this wonderful organization that brings troops and their families a little closer together, although they might be worlds apart.
Ok, let’s get started with the goodies! With any $30 purchase this weekend at ArtImpressions.com, you will receive our  “Nap for That” text FREE. For more details, check out our post below from Friday, May 25.
This tutorial is from one of our fabulous DTs: Hi, this is Maria with a quick and easy way to make a pop-up inside your card. This is a great way to add a little fun inside your card. I used OWH Sketch #21 with the new Art Impressions Lazy Boy Stamp. The outside of the card is a traditional A2 card following the sketch guidelines. For the pop-up addition, the steps and instructions are on the pictures below. **Just a note: the pop-up attachment can be anything that is flat. In my case I cut a sentiment from a die cut machine.
Thank you for stopping by! For more free stuff from Ai, check out our challenge blog on Thursdays! This week is Anything Medical, you can check it out above on the "Current Challenge" link.

Happy Stamping!
