Oceans of Fun challenge week 2

Hello Ai Fans!

It's week two of our Oceans of Fun challenge at Art Impressions!

Your project doesn't need to be ocean themed, just make sure it contains water.

This is perfect for both our regular stamp friends and our watercolor fans.  You could have a lake, pond, stream, ocean, wave dies...even a puddle or some rain on your card.  Any water will do. (no, not a glass of water...lol)  We love a play on words and Oceans of Fun sounds so much better than "projects with water." lol!

Last week we had a fabulous feature from Tasha!  Now you can see her card as well as all of the other DT members.

Seas The Day! by Janet

Hey everyone! It's Janet posting this week for the Oceans of Fun challenge going on here at the blog. The challenge is all about water. To set this ocean scene, I first created a blue panel on Yupo paper using Ranger Distress Alcohol Ink Blender Solution and colors in Stream, Pistachio and Sailboat Blue. When I finished playing with the background, I dragged a brush in a wavy patterns across the panel to give it even more movement. Once it dried, I used a fish cover plate die on the panel to cut out little fish and air bubbles throughout the surface. I cut a second panel of rainbow reflective silver cardstock and glued the two panels together. This allows pretty silver, rainbow fish and air bubbles to show through the inked panel. Finally I cut a piece of kraft cardstock with a stitched hill die and glued it to the bottom of the panel. I used my white gelly roll pen and my black Pigma micron pen to add dots to the sandy bottom.

I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the cute birthday octopus from the 5104 - Octopus Flip Card. I mounted him on foam tape near the top of the sand bottom. Then I stamped, colored and cut out the rest of the sea creatures from 5397 - Submarine Cubbies. I also stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from the set on a dark purple flag I made using 5133 - Tag Double Stitched Dies. I arranged all the creatures and the sentiment on the card. I love how the swirly blue and aqua background shows off all the sea creatures in this scene.

Thanks for stopping by today. Please join us in our new challenge. You might win some swag of your choice and challenge yourself with a new technique. Click on the graphic above to link up your card.

Happy Creating!

Now onto our wonderful Design Team feature from Tasha!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tasha here sharing a fun Ocean themed card created with the 5397-Submarine Cubbies Set

The submarine and ocean creatures were stamped with black ink and colored with Copic Markers. I love all the cubbies on the Sub and the variety of cute ocean creatures to use in the scene!
You can use the sub alone and stamp the creatures directly on to the windows, but the included coordinating die set makes it so easy to cut out the stamped images and windows. I love the cubbies sets!
For the background, I used a stencil with an aquatic design and several shades of blue ink. I like to use bright colors on my projects and using a stencil is a great way to add tons of color! My favorite part is revealing the stenciled design.

Once the background was dry, I started to assemble the submarine. I used light blue glitter paper behind the cubbies and layered the ocean creatures around the Sub, they look so happy!

The sentiment "Swimming By To Say Hi" was stamped with a green ink and I used coordinating glitter paper to add more sparkle.

Lastly, I added some stamped bubbles and attached several glitter enamel dots to the background to complete the card.

I hope you enjoyed today's project and will participate in the Oceans of Fun Challenge!

Tasha's card is just the absolute cutest!!
Thank you so much for the inspiration!
