Happy Saturday Ai fans! I just love the AiCS40-Spring Chicken Set. There are three chicken images and they are all full of attitude. It's hard to pick a favorite but I do enjoy this particular hen. She's definitely got a personality and something to say!
This card is a gate fold with half an oval cut out of each flap. When closed, it appears to be a typical oval window. I used the new 5727-Nested Oval Dies to make the window and the mats inside and out. To keep the card fully closed, I used the 5590-Journal Butterfly Clasp. It works perfectly to make sure the card doesn't open until it's time. The paper comes from the 5606-Harvest Journal Paper Pack. Proof again that the paper packs are not limited to a particular season or holiday even if the pack names suggest that.
Final touches on this card was the sentiment from the stamp set, gems on the butterfly and a little bit of glitter washi tape.

Love your card. I never would have thought to use plaid as the background but it works perfectly.
How do you cut out the oval? I would love to use a heart, arch or butterfly but can't figure out how.

Hi Lara - You can use any shape with a card of this style. Once you have folded the card flaps to meet in the middle (this is a typical gate fold), you center the shaped die over the place the flaps meet. Then use washi tape to secure one side and open the card to cut the shape. Then fold it closed again. Center the die again making sure the cut side of the card lines up with your die. Secure the uncut side with washi open the card again and run through the die cutter. You should have good success with this method and the two side should match up nicely. You will want to create a band of cardstock, ribbon, or a clasp like I did to keep the card shut. Otherwise, it doesn't like to stay closed flat. Just a tip for you on that. Thank you! Janet
