Summerween Challenge - Franky by Janet

Are you loving the latest Ai Challenge? It's Summerween. Clever isn't it? I have had the 6120 -  Frankenstein Puppet in my stash but ordered it after the season so I was thrilled to have a reason to break this one out and give it a try. This is a die set and is easy to put together, especially since the packaging indicates what all the pieces are so there's no guesswork.

I used a couple of paper packs for this card. The background is a piece from the 6130 Halloween S3 PP. The diamond pattern also comes from this pack. Frank's pants, jacket, shoes and shirt are all cut from the 5712 - Christmas Journal PP. This just shows again how packs that are seasonally themed can be used for so many other occasions and themes. This is because the papers always have several neutrally themed patterns that can be used for anything.

I cut the diamond paper from 5062 - Rounded Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies. I matted that on top of my card base which was covered in the pumpkin patterned paper that I had inked the edges on before attaching to the card base. Then I placed an orange mat and the diamond patterned mat on top of that. 

Next I cut and pieced together Franky. This was super fast and easy to do. I used a black paint pen to draw the facial details and a little bit of Signo White Gel Pen on the eyes. I added some green blush with chalk and he was ready! I traced around him on a piece of clear vellum and cut it out. I mounted Franky on foam tape and attached him to the vellum. Then that was glued on to the front of the card. For a sentiment, I stamped the phrase from the 5506 - Peek A Boo Set and trimmed it out with a border before attaching it to Franky. Finally, I added four green glitter enamel dots to two of the corners.

It's a Kitschy Kind of Christmas! by Janet

 Hello Ai Fans. Lately I've really been getting into the Christmas spirit. There's nothing that beats making holiday cards, especially when you have such great images from Art Impressions to work with.

 Today I've used the snarky stamp set, SCO799 Ugly Sweater. This lady is really into it and for sure she's got a very ugly sweater! The papers used are from 5712 - Christmas Journal Paper Pack and green glitter washi tape for the borders. The snowflakes are from the versatile 5782 Snowflake Frame Die. The size of the snowflakes in this set are perfectly sized to be embellishments. I added a green gem to the middle of each snowflake to add just a little more bling. I used two dies from the 5727 Nested Oval Dies to cut out the sentiment. I think it's very funny! Overall, the green glitter tape gives it a kitschy look which works great with this stamp.

The Christmas lights are a nice touch. They are a separate stamp in the set. I put them in her hand by stamping them on acetate and using paint pens to color the bulbs. If you try this, be sure to use StazOn ink because it will dry quickly and not smear on the acetate the way other inks will. Once stamped and colored, I trimmed the light string out with scissors and glued it into her hand. I really like how it turned out. The lights would have bene hard to mask ,so the acetate allows the lady to show behind the light string without any problem. I didn't know if the paint pens would work on the acetate but it did. I applied two coats and the coverage was perfect and permanent.

Pet sympathy with NEW NESTED HEARTS! by Reneé Matarese

 Hello Ai fans!

I recently had two friends lose a pet and I wanted them to know
that I was thinking of them.  I lost my precious Boomer a few weeks
before Christmas so I understand the hurt they're feeling right now.

I wanted to use the new 5721 – Nested Heart Dies
because I know how much they loved their pets.

I mounted the new hearts on the 5064 – Circle Double Stitched Dies.
Before mounting the hearts on the circles I cut out the dog image.  Then I cut

the dog using red paper and inserted him into the cut out space so he was flush

with the heart shaped paper.

The dogs are from 5337 – Dogs Mini Dies.
I cut all of the animals names out using 5562 – Journal Letter Die Set.

Since Joey's name was shorter, I was able to use a die from the 5543 – Journal Template Die Set
to put his name on.  The cats are from 5333 – Cats Mini Dies.



All of the patterned papers are from 5712 – Christmas Journal Paper Pack, 

which shows how versatile they are because these cards aren't Christmassy at all.

I hope that my friends will soon only remember the happy times spent with their pets.

My heart aches for them.
