Happy weekend everyone! I have to gleefully confess that I had the best time working with the new 5935-Fairytale Houses Set! It's such a great set of images and dies to work with. It comes complete with stamped images and dies, including grasses which make it easy to create a scene.
I stamped the images and colored them with Copic markers. I used white and black fine tipped pens to add some accents. I also used black Nuvo drops for extra sheen and dimension on the mushrooms.
This is a mini-slimline card which is 3 1/2" x 6 when finished. It's a perfect size for these images. After cutting out the colored images with the included dies, I arranged them on a 3" x 5 1/2" size of light blue cardstock. I matted this on a 3 1/4" x 5 3/4" navy cardstock mat and glued this on to the card base. I added the sentiment directly on the background as a finishing touch. It makes such a cheerful and fanciful scene! I knew it would be cute but this really surpassed my expectations. The set is designed for watercolor but I think you would agree that this is quite enchanting colored with markers as well. Colored pencils would also be delightful for these fanciful images.
This card also fits the current challenge on the Ai blog which is Magical Creatures. The adorable little bee and the magical beings you would imagine would inhabit these cute little homes is perfect for the theme. I encourage you to enter your card creation to the challenge. As always, I'm honored to be your featured designer today for the new "Magical Creatures!" Blog Challenge. This super fun challenge will have us create a card or project using magical creatures such as fairies, mermaids, dragons, gnomes, unicorns, elves, or anything else you would like!
We will be playing with a brand-new stamp and die set from Art Impressions today! It is the Woodland Fairy Set (5915) and it includes eight of the cutest little fairies as well as lots of coordinating sentiments. The dies are also included!
Let's start by stamping the fairies and coloring them. We will also be stamping and coloring the trees, sky and grass from the Ai Paws to Love MTF Set (4850). For the tress we will mask off a few of the items under the tree so that our little fairy will have a place to rest!
All of the coloring will be done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Yellow, May Green, Green, Moss Green, Mid Green, Haze Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Beige, Mid Brown, Flesh Colour, Pale Pink, Lt Pink, Peach Pink, Lt Violet, Pale Violet, Lt Blue, Turquoise Green, Brown, Dk Brown.
Let's also add a bit more ink blending to the sky and grass using the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks in Broken China and Rustic Wilderness. We can also spatter the background with some bleed proof white ink for a more whimsical look!
Now we can build the card base which will measure 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and add a pretty cloudy patterned paper from the Ai Mini Birthday Paper Pack (5873) and that will measure 5" x 5".
Next, let's layer the card and add some pretty gems to the background as well as some pink beads to the trees. We can pop up a few of the fairies and then add a sentiment from this same stamp set!
Finally, let's add some Vicki Boutin Cosmic Watercolor spattering for a magical look. This will add some shimmery white sparkle to the card!
