Watercolor Bicycle by Carol Hintermeier

Hello Ai Fans!

My card for today features the new WC Bicycle Set.  I've loved this set since I first saw it and I'm so glad to have finally used it!

Since this is the first time I've used this set, I started out with a scrap piece of watercolor paper to practice my stamping and shading of the bicycle.  I inked up the largest bicycle in the set first with Chocolate, then stamped it off and added Deep Blue.  I stamped it off onto scratch paper again, then stamped it onto my card panel.  I used Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock as I really like how bright white it is.  I have all of the watercolor pens listed by brand and number, as well as all the supplies I used at the end of this post.

Here is a list of the steps I took to finish the watercoloring:
  • I lightly pulled the color out of the lines of the stamped image being careful on some of the smaller parts.  (That's when I switched to a No. 2 brush.)  I pulled more color out of the stamped lines of the two baskets as I wanted them to appear white.
  • I smooshed some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink onto my glass mat and used a No. 2 watercolor brush to pick up the ink and color the bicycle.  Go back and add more color for your shading.
  • For the tires and the baskets I mixed some Deep Blue and Chocolate on my mat until it was the shade of gray I wanted.  I used it darker on the tires and a more diluted mix on the baskets.
  • If you have looked at the supply list and wondered why I used all four of the WC Foliage sets, well I didn't plan that!  Haha!  I just had them out and was pulling various stamps to try and there you go.  You can easily do the greenery with one or two sets.  I used a strip of Post-It tape to mask the basket in the back before stamping the foliage in Dark Jade.
  • Next I put some ink from the Sapphire pen onto my mat and mixed in a bit of water for the sky.
  • All the flowers are stamped in Rubine Red.  I used my No. 4 brush to soften.  I used the fine tip of the Brilliant Yellow to add dots of color throughout the flowers.
  • Next I stamped the small grass and pulled out the color.  Then I stamped a few tall grasses and flowers.
  • Don't forget to use a pencil to draw in the spokes on both wheels!

To finish, I cut out the image (make sure it's dry!) with a Rounded Rectangle Double Stitched die.  For the blue layer, I used a pencil and traced around the outside edge of the same die.  I used my trimmer for the straight sides and fussy cut the rounded corners.

I used a 3-D embossing folder and embossed some white paper and cut it down to 4" x 5-¼" and layered it onto the blue top folded A2 card.  The image is popped up with foam tape.  After I stamped the sentiment in Versamark, I added white embossing powder, heat set it, and cut it out with a die from the Tag Stitched Dies set.

Thank you so much for stopping by!  I hope I've inspired you to get out your watercolors and and have a fun crafty day!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Outdoor Scenery

Hello, Ai Watercolor Fans! Today we have three beautiful projects from our Watercolor Design Team to share with you! As the weather warms up, it is delightful to stamp outdoor scenes! Let's take a look at these cards to inspire your projects this weekend!

Hello Friends,

I use all of my Art Impression's stamps for both bible journaling and cards but I only used stamps from the bible journaling line in this card I made for the Watercolor Weekend. I stamped the covered bridge from the 5129 - He Leads Me Set after inking it in both African violet and then in sepia. I pulled the color out of the lines and watercolored the roof and boards underneath in 969 and I used 565 to watercolor inside the covered bridge and in the windows. I stamped the deer from the 5128 - As the Deer Set using sepia, pulled the color out of the lines and then watercolored it with the 947. I darkened the eyes and nose with my super fine Copic liner pen. I stamped the trees from the 5129 - He Leads me Set in sepia and then I stamped the leaves from the 5074 - Bible Flower Set on the trees and dabbed them with a wet brush tip. I used a pencil to lightly draw in my hills, road and water which owner/creator Bonnie Krebs suggested in her YouTube tutorial here. She has mentioned this before but it just clicked for me that I should be doing it on all of my cards - it's so much easier! I used 177, 565 and 969 on the palette to watercolor in the hills, road and water. I stamped the grass from the 5073 - Bible Foliage Set in leaf green and then the flowers in 757 using the dots from the 5074 - Bible Flower Set. I touched them with a wet brush which really made them brighter. I then used a tiny bit of 565 to paint in shadows under some of the flowers, tree and deer. I cut out the picture using the 5065 - Oval Stitched Dies and two background piece using the 5063 - Double Stitched Rectangle Dies. The last thing I did was sign and date it.

I was really happy to see that the smallest bicycle in the 5124 - WC Bicycle Set was the perfect scale to work with the 5013 - WC Door Set, allowing me to create a little scene today! I coloured the door with my N65 Cool Grey 5 Tombow marker, and stamped it slightly to the left of center. Still using N65, I stamped the bicycle and the bricks from 5018 Cobblestone Set, using my stamp positioner to get everything just so. I used 2 pots from the retired 3498 Series 6 Set 2, but the ones in the 4869 WC Small Container Set would work here. With my dampened #4 paintbrush, I softened the lines on all the images, and pulled out the colour to create a few shadows. From the 5009 WC Mini Flower Set, I used the tiny greenery stamp with 158 Dark Olive and the dotted floral stamp with 565 Deep Blue and 991 Light Ochre to add the flowers and foliage to the pots, bike basket and over the door. I dabbed all of these lightly with my brush, as I didn't want to lose the definition of the images. Using my N95 Cool Grey 1 marker and a stamp from the 5019 - WC Wall Texture Set, I added the pale grey stones on either side of the door. To keep them from looking repetitious, I flipped the stamp upside down for the second side, and didn't colour all of the stones. I picked up 515 Light Blue from my palette with a fair bit of water to give an aqua-coloured wash to the stone wall. After scribbling 856 Chinese Red and 969 Chocolate onto my palette, I coloured the door and bicycle in red and used the brown to create a wooden doorframe and pots. I wanted everything to look well worn, so kept my brush strokes fairly streaky. I used 565 to add shadows in and around all of the images. With the small grass from the WC Foliage Set 1 and the 158, I added grass in around the bike & bricks, and with the excess colour after painting them with my brush, I added a pale green wash to the ground. To finish, I used the 5062 Rounded Rectangle Double Stitched Die to cut out the image and used the smallest one in the set to cut out my sentiment (Hello! is from 5136 - WC Sentiment Set 2). Both were matted with some brown cardstock and the sentiment was attached with 3D pop dots.

I love these bridges. They are so quaint and you can use them in so many ways for any occasion. I challenge you to pull out your bridges, flowers and foliage and give it a try, I know you will love them too!!

Project Details

Step 1: Ink the bridge from the 5131 – Stone Path Set with 969 – Chocolate. Stamp it slightly to the left. Using your brush, pull the color out of the right side of the bridge leaving a highlight on the left side and fading the color from right to left. Stay within each board section. Using the fine tip of the 969 – darken in between the boards. Pull some of the brown into the foreground in front of the bridge.

Step 2: Scribble some 528 – Navy Blue on your palette. Slowly lay down layers of color under the bridge and to the left of the bridge. Keep your color darker underneath the bridge. Add some darker color in lines to create movement.

Step 3: Ink up the small grass from the 4051 – WC Foliage Set 1 with 177 – Dark Jade. I used my post it tape to mask off the top right of the bridge and stamped my grass by walking the stamp to the right. I added more grass to each corner of the bridge. Using a damp brush, pull the color up and out of the grasses. Pull some of the color underneath the clumps of grass to ground them.

Step 4: I inked up the single flower from the 5074 – Bible Flower Set using 177 – Dark Jade & 847 – Crimson and stamped it several times. I softened just the blooms with a damp brush. I inked up the small dots from the same set using 993 – Chrome Orange and stamped it a couple of times on each side of the water to the right of the bridge. Finally, I inked up the dots in the shape of a cone from the same set with 636 – Imperial Purple and stamped them around the bridge. I softened them with a damp brush.

Step 5: I used the left over ink from my palette (528), watered it down and added it to the sky. I signed my painting.

I cut it with my stitched border die and mounted it on a piece of Gina K Designs Black Onyx card stock. I added that to my mounted background. I used Yupo paper and Copic Marker Refills to make the background. I mounted the entire piece onto a 4.25 x 5.50 notecard.

I loved making this piece and I hope you will give it a go! Thanks for stopping by and have a crafty day!!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Happy June!

Hello, Ai Fans! Happy June! It's the first of the month, and also the first Saturday - time for a lovely roundup of projects! Today our team is here to feature bicycles and sunny scenes in their creations! Let's take a look.

Dot Freel - Instagram - Blog - Pinterest
I'm pretty certain my love for anything patriotic started in 1976 in my hometown of Canon City, Colorado when our town celebrated the bicentennial year in a big way! I just put out my red, white and blue decorations in my house and that influenced this idea for my card for the Art Impression's Watercolor Weekend. I stamped the bike from the 5124 - WC Bicycle Set three times using both brown 969 and 86 African violet and a mask made of post-it paper. Next, I pulled the colors out of the lines on each bike then watercolored the red and blue bikes from the palette using NO. 89 persimmon and NO. 50 ultramarine. I stamped flowers from the 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to fill the baskets using the same colors as the bikes. The foliage for the baskets and on the ground was from the 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 and from the 4051 -WC Foliage Set 1 stamped in three greens - NO. 15 olive green and 177. I used NO. 1 black to watercolor the bike tires. I used African violet to watercolor the shadows under the bikes. I used a fine tip Copic marker to draw the flag and colored in the red and blue from the palette. The sky was watercolored using NO. 50 ultramarine. I cut out the picture and a background blue piece using the 5063 - Double Stitched Rectangle Dies and adhered it to my card base. I cut out a frame from red paper. I stamped the sentiment from the 5136 - WC Sentiment Set 2 and then cut it out with a die from the 5132 - Tag Stitched Dies Set. I used a flag die from 5133 - Stitched Flag Set to cut out the red and blue tags that I adhered to the back of the sentiment using a glue dot. I made the bow for the tag and then used foam to adhere it to to the front of my card. I used a Wink of Stella pen to add some glitter to all of the flowers. The last thing I did was sign and date it.

It's my first time painting the new-for-2019 #5124 WC Bicycle Set and I've paired it with the #4873 WC Cats Set. I began by colouring the bicycle with my #N65 Cool Grey Tombow Marker, and stamping it onto my watercolour paper. I pulled out the colour with a damp #4 brush, leaving more colour where the shadows fall. I was careful not to colour a portion of the rear tire, leaving a space to stamp my cat with the help of my stamp positioner (also in #N65.) Using the trailing vines from the #5126 WC Foliage Set 4 and my #158 Dark Olive marker, I stamped them several times in the bike's basket without reinking. With the floral cluster from the #4052 Flower Set, I stamped multiples with #565 Deep Blue in the basket and around the wheels. From the #5009 WC Mini Flower Set, I used the cluster of tiny flowers, and stamped them into the 2nd basket, using #158 & #565. Also from the Mini Flower Set, I used the dot cluster in #991 Light Ochre, filling in the basket and around the tires. I used the tiny foliage stamp with #158 to fill in some greenery, and then used #856 Chinese Red/#158 to add the tall flowers to the basket. With a damp brush, I dabbed the flowers & greenery, not wanting to lose the definition of the images. Using the two longer grasses from Foliage Set 4, and the small grass from the #4051 Foliage Set, I added grasses around the tires & cat, and then pulled out the colour with my paintbrush to add a green wash on the ground. Taking #565 from my palette, I painted in the sky and added shadows to the bike, ground and cat. I wanted just a touch of colour on the bicycle, so I picked up #515 Light Blue off of my palette and added it to the metal parts. I used #850 Flesh to add colour directly to the cat's ears. I die cut my image with a Wonky stitched square die, matted it with dark blue cardstock and adhered it to my base with pop dots. The final card is 5 3/4" square.

Hi Ai Fans, welcome back to another Watercolor Weekend! This weekend I decided to create this card using only 2 stamps sets, the Palm Tree Set and the WC Sentiments set. It reminded me of my recent vacation to Aruba. I call this card “Palm tree kindness”.

Project Details
Step 1: I inked up the large palm tree with 969 – Chocolate and stamped it to the left side of the card. I re-positioned it to be curved to the opposite way, re-inked it with the 969 and stamped it on the right side.
Step 2: Then, I inked the small palm tree up with the 969 and stamped it to the left of the large palm tree on the left. I re-inked it and stamped it a little higher between the two palm trees. Taking my damp paintbrush and pulled color from the right side of each of the palm trees. I made sure to pull a little bit of color out of the bottom of the trees.
Step 3: Next I inked up the large palm tree leaves (left facing) with 177 -Dark Jade and stamped it several times to the top left of the large palm trees. I then inked up the large palm tree leaves (right facing) with 177 and stamped it to the right side of the large palm trees. I added water to the palms.
Step 4: Using the smallest palm leaves, I inked each side up and stamped it on either side of the smaller palm trees. I added a small amount of water to them.
Step 5: Using my palette, I added 873 – Coral and 969 around the trees making sure to leave white space for the sand.
Step 6: Again, using my palette, I added some 476 – Cyan to the bottom third of the card for the water. I started with it really watered down and then continued to build the color up slowly, using brush strokes to make wavy lines leaving white space (for white caps) and bringing the color to the sand.
Step 7: I added 528 – Navy Blue to my palette and watered it down. I jumped it around to create a sky. I slowly built the color up.

Card Details
I cut the piece down to 5.25 x 4. I placed it in my MISTI and inked the sentiment with Gina K Designs Amalgam Black Ink. I stamped it in the top right corner.
To create the frame, I traced around a large rectangle die and another smaller die to give me a guideline. I drew in some sporadic lines using 969 making sure to go outside of the guidelines. I used water to pull the color out of the lines to resemble wood. Once it was dry, I ran it through my machine using the large die. I then placed the smaller die down and ran it through my die cut machine. This created a frame that I glued in place with liquid adhesive.
I added the piece to a white 5.5 x 4.25 note card using a liquid adhesive.

This is a really easy card to create with very minimal supplies. I hope you will give it a try. Make sure to tag us on Instagram with #AIWatercolor and (@artimpressions, @dotjiris & @tobin0971). We would love to see what you create.

I hope you take some time for yourself and watercolor. Thank you for stopping by, I really am blessed by all the social media love and the incredibly supportive crafting community!

 Hello Watercolor Friends,

You may think it's a little early for beach scene cards but my three grandsons, Conor, Caide and Charlie, are in Hawaii right now probably in a similar scene. Lucky boys! I made this card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend using the brand new 5119 - WC Beach Boys Set. There's also a WC Beach Girls set which I have to get! The first thing I did was stamp the boy in the middle (Caide) using 40 brownish grey. Next I stamped the beach ball and then masked it off and stamped the standing boy (Conor) also in the 40 brownish grey. I stamped the third boy (Charlie) again in the 40 brownish grey. I used 77 pastel peach on the palette to watercolor each boy. I used 6 brown to color in the hair of the boy in the middle. I used 969 brown for the other two boys' hair. Coloring their trunks was fun. First I added the stripes and flowers using my favorite Copic Multi Liner 0.03 pen. I colored the trunks and beach ball using the 5 yellow, 565 blue, 725 pink, and 34 pale green. I used the 969 brown to color in the shovel handle and 40 brownish grey for the actual shovel. I used 990 to watercolor in the sand and 565 to color in the water and 36 manganese blue for the sky. I added 565 blue to the palette to watercolor in the shadows under the ball and kids. I used the 40 brownish grey fine tip to add the dots to the sand. I stamped 3 of the birds using the 40 brownish grey from the 5069 - My Fortress Set. I used a Signo White Pigment Ink pen to add white caps into the ocean, the high light on the ball and dotted the centers of the flowers on the swim trunks. I used my Copic pen to sign and date it. I cut it out and framed it using the 5062 Double Stitched Rounded Rectangle Dies and a rounded corner punch for the card itself.

You can find more inspiration by following me on my Instagram account here.

I started creating my image cluster by stamping the puppy from the WC Mini Critters Set, the sitting little girl from WC Beach Girls Set, the beach ball from WC Beach Boys Set - masking each as I went along - and finally stamping the umbrella from WC Beach Girls Set. I coloured each of the stamps with my 992 Sand Tombow marker, except for the girl, where I used my LP38 Oyster Grey Marvy marker. I wanted a paler shade for her skin tone, as she's sitting partially in bright sunlight. I also used the fine tip of my LP38 marker to draw in the blanket. With a damp WC Brush4 paintbrush, I softened all of the lines, and then began filling in the colour by scribbling my markers onto my palette: Tombow 991 Straw for the hat/ball; Tombow 885 Warm Red for the umbrella, and added more water to make it more of a pink shade for her swimsuit & the ball. I used my LP86 African Violet Marvy marker to create the shadow under the umbrella, and in and around all of the images on the blanket. Her skin tone is made with several layers of Tombow 850 Flesh, and then I used the same colour to sketch in the suggestion of a sandy beach. I picked up the LP86 with my brush and painted in the water, and after watering it down a little more, used it to paint in the suggestion of a sky as well. *Design tip! You'll notice that I placed everything on the left side of my painting, leaving the upper right corner mostly white. The white space provides a sense of balance for the cluster of images. I could've added a sentiment up there, but felt like it would've been too busy. To assemble my card, I popped up the image and the stripey pink frame that I created with adhesive dots with my periwinkle cardstock peeking out from behind. Happy painting!

Someone shared the photo on Facebook and I love it so I thought I would try to recreate it using my Art Impressions watercolor stamps. I was very happy with how it turned out.

Step 1 - The Planter: I stamped the planter from the WC Window set inked in 969-Chocolate. I left off the bottom of the planter so I could stamp the small grasses below it to ground it. I added some additional color (969&569) from my palette and added some additional lines to make it look like wood slats. I also added some additional details with the fine tip of the marker.

Step 2 - The Bike: To protect the planter, I masked it off and stamped the bike inked in Chocolate. I pulled the color out of the lines and added some additional color from my palette.

Step 3 - The Foliage & Flowers: I inked the small vines from the Foliage Set 4 set with 249-Hunter Green and stamped it into the planter as well as both bike planters. I added water to the foliage.

I used the small flower from the Foliage Set 2 inked with 725-Rhodamine Red and added them to the planter. I used the same color to ink the single flower from the Mini Flowers set and stamped it into the back planter. I used 636-Imperial Purple to ink the small dots in the Mini Flowers set to stamp into the front and back planters.

I inked the small grasses with the Dark Jade and stamped below the planter. I added water to all the blooms and grasses. I added a small amount of 526-True Blue to the sky. Sign and Date!

Step 4 - The Card: I cut the square out with a stitched square die. I cut mat from Gina K Black Onyx card stock about 1/8 bigger than the square. I added some white craft foam to the back of the watercolor piece. I had a piece of watercolor background that I had from another project made from watercolor markers which I used to cut a stitched banner from the new stitched banner dies. I cut a little bigger one from Black Onyx card stock. To make the weathered wood background, I scored a white piece of card stock at 1" intervals. I added some Dark Chocolate ink from Gina K Designs direct to the paper in long swipes. Finally, I white heat embossed the Hello from the new WC Sentiments 2 set.

I assembled the card and added it to a white card base. And that's it!

Thank you, team! These projects are just so lovely! Like what you see? Be sure to leave a comment to let us know! Also, don't forget to follow the pink links by the designer's name to visit and follow them on social media, you're sure to find more project ideas with them, too!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Magical Moments

Hello, Ai Watercolor Fans! Happy Saturday! It is the first week of March, which calls for Watercolor Weekend! This week we have a special guest designer, Karen Day, joining us today! Let's take a look at what the team has in store for us today!

Dot Freel - Instagram - Blog - Pinterest
Hello Watercolor Friends,

I am in love with this brand new 5124 - WC Bicycle set! I made this birthday card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend using the largest bike stamp (there are four bikes in the set!) First I used the 45 Sepia, then the 86 African violet to ink up the bike and then I stamped it. I pulled the color out of the lines then used the 105 lt. teal on the palette to color the baskets and chain cover. I used N25 on the palette to watercolor the bike seat, handlebar grip, pedal and tires. Next I watercolored the bike body in the 94 scarlet. I used a ruler to and a pencil to draw the present in the back basket. I watercolored it in 34 pale green and painted the ribbon in the 94 scarlet. I used my white Signo pigment pen to outline the ribbon like it's high lighted. I used the 15 olive green on the mini leaf stamp from the 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to fill the front bucket with leafs, added water and then I used the 3 hearts in the same stamp set with the 94 scarlet to stamp the flowers in the basket. I dabbed the flowers with water. Next, I took the grass from the brand new 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 and the 72 pine green and stamped in the grass along the ground. I took some of the same green on the palette and colored in the ground all under the bike. I used 105 lt. teal and lots of water to color in the sky. I punched out three pink glitter paper hearts and glued them above the bike like they were balloons and used a ruler and my Copic Multiliner 0.03 pen to draw the strings and then outlined the present. I used a pencil and a ruler to draw in the spokes on the wheels. I signed it with my Copic pen and then cut it out using one of the 5061 - Double Stitched Square dies. I cut out the blue banner using the 5134 - Double Stitched Banner die set and a scalloped rectangle die for the next layer and stamped that sentiment from the brand new 5136 - WC Sentiment Set 2 and then cut it out using the smallest 5063 - Rectangle Double Stitched die.

I challenged myself to use a limited colour palette this week, using just tones of blue & brown - and I love the end result! I started by cutting a 5065 Oval Double Stitched die from Canson XL Watercolor Paper. Using 45 Sepia, I stamped and masked the bunny from 5016 Mini Critter Set, and then stamped the smaller toadstool from 5125 WC Elves Set behind him, leaving the top of it uncoloured so that I had a spot where my elf could sit. I inked him up in 992, which I also used to draw in a few blades of grass. I stuck with 969 (brown) and 86 African Violet to paint in the elf's oufit, with shades of 969 on the toadstool. I used 850 as a skin tone, and for the bunny's ears, using the 86 for my sky & shadows. For my second card, I cut a 5063 Rectangle Double Stitched die shape from Canson XL Watercolor Paper. I stamped both toadstools in 969, masking the small one, and stamping the larger one behind. I hand drew in the door (but the ones in 5065 WC Fairy Doors Set would work perfectly!) and stamped the stones from 5018 WC Cobblestone Set in 969. The elf is stamped in 992, and 850 is used as a skin tone. I used shades of 969 and 86 African Violet scribbled on my WC Palette to colour in the scene, often layering the colour to achieve darker shades, and used the 86 for my shadows.

Tricia O'Bin - Blog - Instagram - YouTube - Pinterest - Facebook
Here is how I created my Elves card. This one is a little different as I needed to stamp the elves before the mushrooms. So to begin I created a bunch of masks and moved them around until I was happy

Step 1: The Elves
First, I stamped each of the Elves inked in 969-Chocolate. Once they were stamped I used my masks to protect them.

Step 2: The Mushrooms
I stamped the yellow Mushroom first, as I wanted it to be in the front, with Chocolate. I masked it off, using my positioner, stamped the orange mushroom. I removed part of the detail on the stem and tried to position it to the right to give it a different look. Then I stamped the purple mushroom and masked it off.

Using the smaller mushroom, I stamped the red and then the pink mushrooms.

Step 3: Adding water
Pull the color out of the lines from the Elves and Mushrooms. I added color to them from my palette. I tried to shade them based on where the Elves would have cast shadows as well as if something is in front of the object. In order for the Mushrooms to look round, I made sure to keep the darkest areas on the sides leaving a highlight in the middle. Once the were all dry, I added white dots to the tops of the Mushrooms. I added some additional color where the shadows would be darkest.

Step 4: The Grass and Flowers
I inked up the left and right grasses from the new WC Foliage 4 set using 249-Hunter Green and stamped them around the bases of the Mushrooms. I pulled color up and out of the lines. I then inked the flower bunch from the Flower Set 2 with 685-Deep Magenta and Hunter Green. I also stamped some of the small grass sporadically.

I added some 452-Process Blue to the palette and created a sky. Sign and date your piece!

Step 5: The Card
Using the rectangle stitched die, I die cut the watercolor piece. I glued it to a card stock base made from Red Hot card stock from Gina K Designs. To make sure that the sentiment, from the new Sentiments 2 stamp set, was straight, I used my MISTI. I added some Gina K Amalgam ink and stamped it down in the left hand corner. I added the entire piece to a white base card.

Hello Watercolor Friends,

There are some amazing brand new stamp sets available now from Art Impressions! I used the new 5125 - WC Elves Set to create this card for the latest challenge, "Floral Cards." I stamped the mushroom using both the brown and blue. I pulled the color out of the lines. I took Sepia from the palette

to paint in the circles on the mushroom top. I used the red 885 on the palette to color in the mushroom top. I stamped the door from the 5056 WC Fairy Doors Set (which fits perfectly) using the sepia and added lines with the fine tip of the sepia pen. I colored the door pine green, using the palette. I used the sepia fine tip to darken in the door shadows and door knob leaving that white high light in the center. I used the stamp positioner to stamp the elf on top of the mushroom house using 40 brownish grey. Then I colored him using the pine green on his pants and hat and half sleeves and I used 77 pastel peach to color in his face and hands. I colored his hair and shoes in with the sepia. I stamped a single flower in his hand from the 4868 WC Flower Set 2 using blue 565 and pine green and then stamped in the group of those same flowers above the mushroom and added water. I used pine green and stamped the leaves from the 5009 - WC Mini Flower set then used the flowers from 4052 - Flower Set 1 and stamped the flowers in using the red 885. I added water to them. I used the grass from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1 and stamped it in using the olive green. I used the tall stalks from the brand new 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 and the 72 pine green and stamped them in the background. I put some olive green on the palette and dabbed it in around those leaves. I used blue 526 on the palette to color in my sky. I took actual watercolor paint - silver and white to make my sky look more cloudy. I cut out my image using the 5065 - Oval Double Stitched Dies and cut out the red background piece from the next larger oval die. I used two of the 5063 - Rectangle Double Stitched dies for the next background pieces. I glued those little green jewel flowers in the corners. Lastly, I used a Copic Multi Liner 0.03 pen to add the black centers to the flowers, draw in the elf's eyelash, draw the string on his shirt, and sign and date it.

Begin by stamping the bicycle from the WC Bicycle Set in 565 Deep Blue, stamp it off onto a scrap piece of paper then add 969 Chocolate and stamp onto your watercolor paper. The combination of both colors will result in a gray tone. Watercolor the Art Impressions way with water and a paint brush. Next stamp in the foliage from the WC Foliage Set 4 in the basket and around the tires using 158 Dark Olive on some leaves and 177 Dark Jade on others. Mask off the bottom of the basket with masking paper or a post it note, then stamp the flowers from WC Flower Set 2 in 725 Rhodamine Red. Scribble a little 528 Navy Blue on your palette and brush onto the bike. Darken up the basket, seat, etc. with a bit of 969 Chocolate. Also add in tire spokes with the small tip of 969 Chocolate. Brush in the sky using 526 True Blue. Add dot detail around the flowers with 725 Rhodamine Red. Finally, stamp the sentiment from Sentiment Set 2 in your favorite black ink. I cut out the design and mounted it to the card with foam tape for added dimension.

Step 1: Container
First, I inked up the container from the New Decorative Jar Set using 969-Chocolate and 569-Jet Blue. Pull the color out of the lines from the edges working your way in. In order to create the texture, add additional color in an up and down brush stroke, this creates the look of smooth metal. Make sure to leave your highlight in the middle of the container as well as along the top of the spout.

Step 2: Foliage
I inked up the leaves in the New Foliage 4 set with 177-Dark Jade. I stamped the leaves (5 times at least) along the top of the container. Make sure you leave enough space for the flowers. I added water to the foliage.

Step 3: Flowers
I inked the flower blooms from the Bible Flower set using 905-Red and stamped three blooms. I then inked up the small flower bunch from the Mini Flowers set with 606-Violet. I added 4 additional flower bunches. I added water to the blooms starting from the lightest area. I inked the stems from the Bible Flower set using 847-Crimson and 177-Dark Jade. I added water to the blooms. To fill in the middle of the bouquet, I added some additional foliage from the New Foliage 4 set.

Step 4: Cobblestones
I used a piece of post-it tape to mask the bottom half of the container. I inked up the cobblestones from the Cobblestones set with Chocolate and Jet Blue. I stamped it off and then stamped it under the container. When pulling the color out of the lines, make sure to pull it from below the stones to make them pop. I added some 476-cyan to sides of the container to show sky.

Step 5: The Card
Make sure you sign your work. I placed the watercolor piece in my MISTI stamping tool and inked up the “Blessed & Grateful” with Gina K Designs amalgam ink and stamped it along the bottom of the container.

Next, I cut the watercolor piece out with the new Hexagon double stitched die. I also cut a mat from peach cardstock using one size larger Hexagon die. I popped up the watercolor piece using foam tape. I adhered this to a piece of white cardstock cut to 3.75 x 5 that I ran through my big shot using a hexagon embossing folder.

I adhered this onto a Edible Eggplant card stock mat. I adhered this to a side folded card base.
