Hi Friend by Sharon Caudle

 Hello AI Fans!!

I have a card for you today that goes along with the current challenge Blossoms & Blooms. If you haven't checked out Dori's amazing creation for her feature for this challenge, please do yourself a favor and click HERE to see it. It's jaw dropping gorgeous and so creative!

I don't know if you've noticed I've really been using a lot of Girlfriends images for the past several challenges! And here I am again, LOL! This time, I used 5798 Gardening Girlfriends Set. I stamped the image onto a Copic friendly paper, and then again on a piece of masking paper. After carefully placing the mask over my Girlfriends, I inked up 56361 WC Gazebo Set, and stamped it offsetting it a little behind the ladies. I love this technique cause it never fails to amaze me how it looks when I remove the mask. After I colored up the image, I chose a couple flower bunches from the Front Door Line of stamps and colored them. After fussy cutting them out, I placed them on the image so it looked like they were in the pots the Girlfriends are holding. I also placed an extra pot in the lower corner of the image.

So that's it for me today! Thanks so much for stopping by for a visit today and until next time - stay crafty!!

An Armful & Gardening Girlfriends by Karen Day

 Hello Ai Watercolour fans!

If you're not familiar with the Ai Armfuls, you should check them out!  I am using 5904 - So Sweet Armful Set.  It comes with both a bear and an elephant, with matching dies that cut slots so that their arms can hold either a heart or a cupcake.

I decided on a CAS style of card, doing some Distress Oxide ink blending with a circular mask (Spun Sugar, Scattered Straw and Mowed Lawn).   The panel was cut with a 5063 - Rectangle A2 Stitched die, and mounted to the card base with 3D foam adhesive.  The bear was stamped in N55, and his fir was painted in tones of #977, keeping it darker where the shadows would be.  His trousers are a mix of #565/526, and a little #725 was painted in his ears and on his cheeks.  He was cut out with the coordinating die in the set.  I painted #725 onto some scrap watercolour paper, and used the heart die that comes in the set to cut the heart that he's holding.

To fill up a little of the white space in the upper right corner, I stamped two of the butterflies from 5200 - Butterfly Set in #N55, and painted them in with #126/725/993 to match the ink blending.  The bear and butterflies were adhered with 3D foam adhesive, the sentiment is from the Armful set, and is stamped in Versafine Onyx Black, and I added a few sequins from my stash.

My second card featured 5798 - Gardening Girlfriends Set, stamped in #N55 on some Canson XL Watercolour paper.  I wanted to extend the image a little, so I started out by stamping the puppy from 5016 - WC Mini Critter Set, then masked him and stamped a pot from 4869 - WC Small Container Set and the main image using my Misti platform for placement.

I painted two of the pots in shades of #947, and one with a mix of #249/565, keeping the edges darker to indicate their round shapes.  Then I began building my bouquet in the pot on the left - using two blooms from 5475 - Flower Set 6 in #177/603, then the long carnation stem from the set in #126/725.  The tall bloom from 4052 - WC Flower Set 1 was stamped twice with #993.  To fill in the base of the pot, one of the vines from 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 was stamped in #177 using just the tip.  The flower bunch from 4868 - WC Flower Set 2 was stamped in #177/565 into the aqua pot, and I used my brown Twintone marker to draw in the branches in the largest spot.  *I could've used the WC Branches set for this, but masking the watering can seemed like more work than was necessary when it only took a minute to draw in the branches myself.

The puppy and her hat were painted in tones of #993/947, adding the warm brown where the shadows would be.  Her top was painted with #725/636, her jeans with #565, and the trowel, shoes and watering can were done with #N55.  #126/245 were painted on her gardening gloves for a bright pop of colour.  The small grass from 4051 - Foliage Set 1 was stamped with #126/177, and the colour pulled out to add shading to the ground.  #850 was used for her skin tone, and #565 was painted in a wash for the sky.

The sentiment is from 5817 - Potting Garden Shed Set, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.  The whole image was die cut with 5061 - Square Double Stitched Dies, and adhered with 3D foam adhesive over a dark grey mat.  The background paper is from the 5892 - Easter S2 Paper pack.

Now on to Janet's ADORABLE card.
Let's see and hear what she's made to inspire you!

Hello everyone! It's my pleasure to feature a card for the new challenge made with 5798 - Gardening Girlfriends Set. I have chosen to put this wonderful image on a fun fold card base. I'm not sure what others call this fold but I call it a front fold pop-out card. This is pretty simple to make and it fits into a normal A2 card base. It also folds flat for mailing.

The current challenge is All That Glitters. In the spirit of the challenge, I've added Star Dust Stickles (a glitter glue) to my flowers. Glitter glue is just one way to add some shine. I wasn't able to pick up the glitter in the photo as I had hoped but in person, it adds a very pretty shine to the flowers. I like glitter glue since it is mess free! So let's get started!

Cut four panels in the dimensions shown. I used patterns from 5835 - Mini Paper Pack. Going left to right, the first two panels are stacked and placed on the middle fold. The two identical panels on the right go on either side of the center panel of the card.

Create the card base from a piece of cardstock cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2". The folds are scored as shown below.

Once scored, the card base is folded as shown from the top. Going from left to right, the folds are mountain, valley, valley and mountain.

Stamp the smaller middle panel with a sentiment and adhere it to the larger center panel mat. Adhere the two smaller panels on either side so that the card is as shown.

Cut two ovals for the focal image of the card. I cut an oval out of alcohol friendly cardstock with the 5727 - Nested Oval Die Set.  I cut a large oval out of cardstock from the 5835 - Mini PP paper pack to use as a mat with a die from 5065 - Oval Double Stitched Dies.

Stamp the image and another sentiment on the the white cardstock. This image allows you to add flowers to the pot and the watering can. To do this and not ruin the main image, use washi tape or little pieces of paper, such as from the sticky part of a post-it-note to cover the edge of both containers and act as a mask. Then stamp the flowers. Notice how the stems stamp on the mask instead of the main image. The flowers I used come from 5825 - Geranium Set. Choose any ink colors you like for this. I chose blues, pinks, and lavenders.

After stamping, I peeled the mask away leaving the flowers as shown.

I then colored the flowers loosely and added contrasting dots and used a black pen to give a little more form to the flowers. I added Stickles to the flowers to give them a little more pop.

I colored the image using Copic markers:

Skin: E000, E01, E02, E30, R20
Hair: E23, E15, E30
Bench: E23, E15, E29
Orange Pot: YR00, YR02, YR04
Watering Can: C1, W1, C7
Shorts: BG000, BG01, BG05
Capris: B23, B24, B28
Hat: E30, Y17
Boots: G99, G21
Yellow Shirt: Y11, Y15, Y17
Apron: V01, Vo4, V17
White Shirt: C1, BV31, 0
Ground: G21, W3

As a final touch, I added blue and purple matt enamel dots to the left and right panels.

Keep on Growing by Janet Axtman

Happy Saturday and welcome to the Ai blog! One of the cutest new sets for spring is called 5798 - Gardening Girlfriends Set. It has several images and sentiments. I've been looking forward to using this set because the ladies in it are so cute. Also there are several stand-alone accessories such as an apron, pitcher, and hat. I cut out the circle from alcohol friendly cardstock with 5064 - Circle Double Stitched Dies. I stamped the image of the lady and added flowers to the pots using 4868 - WC Flower Set 2.

I was lacking a little inspiration for how to lay my card out so I went to some card sketches I keep handy and decided to try this one. If you ever feel stuck, card sketches can really help you out because of their tried and true nature. For my patterned cardstock, I used 5892 - Easter S2 PP. I just added solid coordinating cardstock for the card base and sentiment strip. I used 5725 - Nested Square Dies and 5724 Nested Rectangle Dies to cut the mats behind the circle. I stamped the sentiment on a strip of darker blue cardstock and matted it with some leftover striped cardstock used for the mat. A few blue glitter enamel dots finishes this one off nicely.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope my card gives you some ideas of your own. Please visit the store to see all the things you need for your card, journal, and tag making projects. Have a GREAT Saturday!
