Today I have the next two pages in my Baby Boy Journal.
These are the 7th and 8th pages that I've made.



Some of this book is based on my son.  I honestly can't remember when he first sat up without looking in his baby book. He was obsessed with dinosaurs from about 2-8 yrs. old though so notice the "dinosaur" book in front of the mouse.  He loved to be read to.  I can remember him being about 3 years old and correcting my husband's pronunciation of the dino names...lol! He's an avid reader now as an adult. 

So...do as I say and not as I do.  I realized too late that I began gluing the pages on the right side of the journal in backwards.  Oops. You can see I tried to peel it up and it started to tear. Oh well.  It still works but, lesson learned. 

I hope you've been enjoying my journal.  It's been so much fun to make and I can't wait to start a new one.  I haven't decided on a theme yet.  There are SO MANY possibilities!

Pamper Your-Shelf! by Karen Day

 Hello Ai fans!

I am a long-time Try-fold fan, and the mini ones are especially fun to do.  I work in a library, so made this for a coworker!  Here is 4853 - Pamper Your-Shelf MTF:

The Try-folds come with wonderfully clear directions - so I followed the cutting & stamping guides to stamp each of the 3 images on my cream cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, and coloured them all with my Copic markers.  I wanted the shelves to look like wood, so I used streaks of colour in various shades of brown.

There are two small dies in the set that are easy to fit over the stamped images, and they create the little windows that allow you to see through the flaps to the cute little mouse image on the inside of the card.

Since Copic markers can either bleed or show through to the back side of your cardstock, I cut out pieces of patterned paper to fit the inside of each flap, using the die to cut through that layer as well.  It makes for a prettier card, and gives a clean, finished look to your project.  There are two sentiments in the set, so I matted one for the inside of my card.

I adhered a piece of ribbon to the back side of the try-folded cream panel before attaching it to my single background sheet, so that when the card is folded up, I can tie a neat bow to hold it together.  The finished card size is just under 5" square.  You can find all the Mini Try-Folds on the Ai website here!

Hello Ai fans!

So, 2020 was pretty weird and 2021 doesn't seem to be all that different so far. I am a Special Ed. Program Aide at an elementary school. I'm sure most people don't really know what that is. During the 2019-2020 school year my job was to work in 2 fifth grade classrooms.  I would assist kids with IEPs and 504s (just fancy abbreviations for they need more help than some kids) I would also pull small groups of kids out of classrooms for study groups for extra math or reading help.  We also had an "enrichment" period where I had taught 3 cooking classes.  I had just started a tutoring business and had two kids signed up.  Flash forward to March 2020 and that all came to a screeching halt.  I was stuck at home not helping children at all. 

Flash forward again to Fall 2020 and thankfully we were back in school. My job (hopefully temporarily) has changed dramatically though.

My job this year has me outside shuttling kids through a parking lot when parents drop them off and pick them up because parents aren't allowed in the lobby anymore.  I spend 2 hours a day on lunch room duty because we have to have social distancing. I spend very little time at all on academics this year which is heartbreaking.  I am a firm believer in every cloud has a silver lining though. I have met a group of school employees that I don't normally get to see. I even broke down all barriers when for the first time a "non cafeteria" worker was asked to help out in the kitchen. We now send home meals for every single day that kids are not in school.  Our cafeteria staff was overwhelmed trying to serve kids in person and creating hundreds of meals to go home with them as well.

One sweet woman and I bonded over my love of cooking.  She shared recipes with me and brought me a magazine with some things she wanted me to read. I wanted to thank her so I made her a bookmark since I know she loves to read.

Sorry for the long post...I love my job, even this year, and I LOVE my co-worker friends!!

Pamper Your Shelf Tri-fold Card -By Crystal

Hi Ai fans! 

Hope your week is going great I can't believe how fast this summer has flown by. This week I made a card that reminds me school will be back in session soon for my girls at least. We get out early for summer so we start early. Some schools might still have a month of summer left. 

For my card this week I used the Pamper Your Shelf stamp set. This set reminds me a lot of my two kids the are always reading.  

This was a really simple card. I wanted to watercolor the image in so I made my card base out of watercolor card stock. I stamped the images in with Vesafine black ink. Versafine black ink will not smear with water you do need to be careful to let it dry or heat set it so you don't smudge it.

I took Spectrum Noir aqua markers and scribbled them down onto my glass mat and picked the color up with a water brush to color the images in. The sentiment that comes in this set is cute "Pamper your-shelf". 

I love once you open the whole card you see the little mouse sitting on a stack of books reading. It's just so adorable. I kept this card super simple only focusing on the stamped image. I really like how this card came out I was a little worried I wouldn't like it in the end because of how simple it was. 

Pamper Your Shelf by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

My niece loves to read and every year I try to get her a gift card to a book store.  This year I thought it would be fun to make her card with the Pamper Your Shelf MTF set.  I wanted to give her the gift card in a way that she couldn't see it through the Try Fold windows.  I remembered that we had done a make and take at the Scrapbook Expo with a MTF panel on the front of an A2 card, so I did something like that card.  I hope you enjoy making something like this for the book lover in your life.

The images were stamped onto Neena Desert Storm Environmental Cardstock with My Favorite Things Extreme Black Ink and colored with Copic markers.  The colors used are listed at the end of this post. It was stamped onto even panels following the directions on the card packaging.  The panel for the front of the card measured 4" x 9" and was scored at 3" and 6".

When working on colored card stock, you may want to color your markers onto a piece of scrap paper and let it dry for a few minutes to get an idea of what it will actually look like.  It will dry quite different than it went on.

Once the images were colored, details were added with Sakura Gelly roll pens.  A Black Glaze pen was added to the eye & nose of the mouse.  The Stardust Sparkle pen was added to the spines of the books.  The folded piece was added to the card front that was decorated with the decorative paper.

Hello Ai friends and happy Thursday!

 

Today I am sharing a project using one of the new Art Impressions Mini TryFolds… 4853 – Pamper Your-Shelf MTF.

 

This set is created to make a trifold card and includes two dies to cut out the openings in the two layers of the tri-fold, allowing for a sneak peek of the images inside. Instead of making a trifold card, this time I wanted to try something a little different. I've been wanting to make a cute bookmark with this set...it is just perfect for one!

 

To avoid extra layers that I would normally have by die cutting the inside of the shelf for the mouse to peek through, the middle image was omitted.  I stamped and reverse masked the shelf, then stamped the mouse inside.

 

After my image was layered how I wanted it, I slipped it into a plastic bookmark sleeve.  Some paper flowers and ribbons finished it off.

 

A bonus for using double sided patterned papers is that your back side looks pretty too!

The Love of Reading!

Hello Ai Fans!

Today I am sharing another card using the newly released Mini Tryfold set called "Pamper Your-shelf". I love that this stamp set wants you to "pamper" yourself with reading! I always feel so relaxed when I have spent time reading a good book. 

To makes things even easier with the Try-fold sets you can purchase pre-made 3 panel cards from Art Impressions. Each set comes with the 3 images, sentiments and dies to cut out your layers. 

My card is a very simple design to showcase the images better. This card could be for many different occasions!
