Stayin' Afloat Shaker Card by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

I can hardly believe it, but this is the last official month of summer even though it still feels like summer for quite a few more months here in Florida. I wanted to do another summer card before I started to think about the upcoming cooler months. I figured that a shaker card with the Stayin' Afloat Set would be perfect!

The image is stamped onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth paper with the MFT Extreme Black Ink and colored with Copic markers before I fussy cut it out. The colors are listed at the end of this post. The frame is cut out of the patterned paper using nested die cuts.  The same dies were use to cut a piece of yellow fun foam that was sandwiched between two pieces of Stick It adhesive.  The piece of fun foam was attached to the decorated card base and a selection of sequins were added to the inside opening. The top layer of the Stick It adhesive was released and added a piece of acetate that had been cut with just the outside layer of the dies was added to the exposed adhesive.  The pattern paper frame was added with glossy accents.  The greeting was added with a piece of the same fun foam that was saved from the center of the frame cut.

Copic Colors Used:
Faces - E000, E00, E11, R20, R24
Hair - C1, C3, C5, Y02, Y21, E13, E30,31,E35
Bathingsuits - C3, C1, C00
Red - R81, R83, R85
Blue - B21, B24, B26
Yellow - Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17

float on by Diane Zechman

Hello Ai friends and happy Thursday!

I hope you are enjoying the warm, sunny days!  Soon summer will start winding down and it will be back to school time...yikes!  But for now... keep calm and float on!

Today I used the Art Impressions Stayin Afloat Set (4239). This sweet image takes center stage and covers quite a bit of the card so I kept the layers simple but tried to add some fun, summery papers.

The bottom tube is glued to the card but the sides and top of the image were popped with foam tape.

These fun gals are taking life a bit less seriously for the moment...and enjoying time with friends.  I hope you have a stress free day too!

Happy stamping!

Stayin' Afloat by Karen Day

Hello Ai fans!
It's Karen with you today... enjoying the last gasp of summer with a Girlfriends card using the Stayin' Afloat Set (Sku#4329):
I went with some fairly 'quiet' striped paper as my background, so I kept the ladies' in fairly sedate colours as well.  I added a little strip of yellow ricrac along the bottom, and used a few die cuts to simulate the sky.  I pop dotted the die cuts at a few different heights for a little extra dimension:

Here is the inside message:

And the Copics I used:

Happy stamping everyone!

Stayin' Afloat with the Girlfriends

Hello Ai Fans!
Today I have a fun summer birthday card and a tutorial for you.
I know easel cards have been around for a while but there are always new people discovery the fun world of card making who still want to learn!

I've used lots of fun images and verses from Art Impressions on my card.  The main image is from the Girlfriends line and it's from the Stayin' Afloat set.  The verse is called Waded.   The verse I used to hold the card open when it's popped up is called Deep End.

On the inside I stamped Happy Birthday.

Now, for those of you who don't know how to make an easel card here are my instructions.

1. Cut a 12" x 6" piece of navy paper and score it at 3" and 6".

2. Fold on score lines.
3. Cut a 6" x 6" piece of navy paper for the front, a 3" x 5 3/4" SKY piece, a 3" x 5 3/4" WATER piece and a 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" WATER piece for the inside.  Adhere them all to the front or inside of the card accordingly.
4. Stamp, color and cut out main image and wave piece. Reserve negative of the wave you cut if you want to use it on the inside portion like I did. (it will be tough to see in the photo since the colors are so close)

5. Adhere the girlfriends and waves using dimensional tape and stamp your verse on the front.

6. Cut and adhere clouds.

7. Stamp verse and cut out with die/punch. Place on dimensional foam tape.  This part will hold your
front up when it's open.
