Bucket of Blooms & Birthday Smiles by Simone Carr

Hello crafty friends! Wishing a very happy Father's Day to all the amazing dads and father figures out there.

For today’s card, I created a sweet garden scene featuring the Mini Mice and Squirrel Set.

I started by inking the large stones with Tombow 565 + 969, leaving the top area uninked. I stamped the image off two to three times before stamping onto Canson Watercolor Paper for a softer impression.

Next, I stamped the bucket using my stamp positioner. I used the same 565 + 969 combination, applying the color to an acrylic plate and stamping off twice. I positioned the acrylic plate where I wanted the bucket, and once I was happy with the placement, I removed the acrylic plate and stamped the bucket.

For the smaller stones, I followed the same process, inking only half of the stamp with 565 + 969 and stamping off before placing them around the scene.

I then stamped the squirrel using Tombow 969. Using a damp #4 brush, I pulled color from the stamped lines and added additional shading to both the squirrel and the rocks. I also added more color to the bucket for extra depth.

Once the main elements were complete, I began building the scene by stamping in the grass and flowers. I used Post-it Tape to mask the rocks and squirrel before stamping the flowers. I added a light wash of 526 to the background before stamping the flowers and foliage inside the bucket. Using my damp #4 brush, I softened the stamped images for a watercolor look.

After everything was dry, I used Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White to add extra flowers throughout the bucket arrangement and the grassy areas.

The finished panel was cut using the 4th largest Nested Rectangle Die. I then layered it onto patterned paper from the Encouragement PP collection using the 1st and 2nd largest Double Stitched Rectangle Dies to create a dimensional frame.

• 177 – Grass & Flower Stems

For my second project, I created a set of birthday tags using the Baby Critters Set.

I started by using a die from the Portfolio Template Die Set (5952) to cut the tags from Canson Watercolor Paper. Next, I used a Crop-a-Dile to punch the oval opening so I could determine how much space I had for stamping the images.

I placed each tag into my stamping platform, which made it easy to restamp the images if needed. I stamped the critters using Tombow N95, then added the "Happy Birthday" sentiment with Versafine Clair Nocturne.

Next, I stamped the stars and balloons using N95 as well. Once all the images were in place, I began coloring. All of the colors used are listed below.

After coloring, I added Wink of Stella to the stars for a little sparkle. On the giraffe tag, I used Nuvo Crystal Drops for added dimension and interest. One thing I discovered is that the glaze softened the lines I had drawn on the balloon, causing some of the details to fade. It's a good reminder that dimensional products can sometimes alter watercolor details, so keep that in mind when adding finishing touches.

Once everything was completely dry, I added the eyelets and finished the tags with ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed this weekend’s projects and found a little inspiration along the way. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to see you next time!

LEON Day! Challenge #406 Week #1

Hello Ai fans and welcome to our latest challenge!
LEON Day!

You might be asking yourself "What is LEON Day?"
I just recently learned myself.
Leon Day takes place on June 25th. Leon is Noel spelled backwards and June 25th is halfway to Christmas. So, we're asking you to make something Christmas or winter themed for our challenge.

June 25th will be extra special for me next week because my daughter's birthday is June 25th and she's turning 25, it's called a Golden Birthday. This is because the day of your birth (25th) matches the age you are turning (25). She even has an extra 25 in hers because the year matches as well so hers is called a Beddian birthday. Super cool.

Lynn is our Featured Artist for this challenge and she created the cutest little gift tags and has a wonderful video tutorial for you.

Be sure to scroll all the way down to find the winners of our last challenge.

Now, let's look at Lynn's fabulous Christmas gift tag project!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Ai Fans!!!

Watch video tutorial here!!!

I know it's only mid-June but... today's tags were inspired by the current Ai "LEON Day!" Blog Challenge! Leon is Noel backwards and is a great way of celebrating the half-way point to Christmas and the holidays!

I thought this would be a fun way to get a bunch of holiday gift tags done and ready to add to Christmas gifts! We will create 6 tags, and I will talk a little bit about mass producing these tags in an easy and efficient way in today's video!

We will be using the Ai Mini Christmas Village Set (5977) to create all 6 of these tags. These tiny little images will be perfect for some quick and easy coloring and cutting. This set is part of the Ai Village Series and will coordinate perfectly with your Village Freebies, and the three add-on sets (Ai Village Signage, Ai Village Vehicles, and Ai Village Accessories).

Let's begin by stamping and coloring all of the images using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Sugared Almond Pink, Deep Red, Scarlet Red, Peach Pink, Yellow, Lt Green, Green, Ice Blue, Lt Blue, Cobalt Blue, Violet, Lt Brown, Beige, Mid Brown, Dk Gray.

For the tags we will be using the stitched label die from the Ai Decorative Journal Page 1 Set (5768). Let's die-cut these from some Kraft 100lb cardstock.

Next, we will add some white ink around the edges of the tags, to soften the look a bit. Then we will use the Dr Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White Ink to spatter some "snowflakes" around each of the tags.

Now let's stamp a bunch of sentiments from the Ai Christmas Sentiments Set (5566) and cut these into thin sentiment strips. We will be attaching these to some pretty holiday papers from the Ai Christmas Paper Pack S2 (5812). This is the fun part.... just selecting some fun patterned papers to go behind each of the sentiments! We can attach these to each of the tags!

Let's pop up each of the images on our tags and then for some sparkle and bling we will add some clay peppermint candies and some pretty gems.

Finally, we will add some red/white baker's twine to each of the tags. These are an easy and fun project to make ahead and to have on the ready for the holidays or to give as a gift to a friend!

Thank you so much for joining me today! Have a fun and crafty day!!!

Srappie (Gypsy) Front & Back dog gift by Reneé Matarese

Hello Ai fans!

Today I'm sharing a super cute dog image from Art Impressions with you.  This guy is called  Scrappie Front & Back (Sku#Q1704) from the Fronts & Backs  line.

I gave this gift to my friend.  Her dog is named Gypsy.

Here's the front of the tag.  The Front and Backs are designed to have an image on the front and then the backside is either on the back of the tag as in this case or on the inside of the card.

Here's the backside.

I embossed the lid with cute little paw prints.
