Happy Birthday Sloth Flip Card By Jessica shier

Hello Ai Fans!

I wanted to create some flip cards this month. The first one I'm going to show you is this Happy Birthday design using the sloth flip card set, which I paired with the Flip card die

I used various Copic markers (list below) to color in the sloths. Stamping both the front and back on to Neenah 80lb Solar White card stock.  I kept the shading simple and used a very limited amount of markers. I've said it before, but I love the full colored packaging of Art Impressions stamps because it gives you such a great example of how to color and shade!

Once I was done coloring I fussy cut both of the sloth images out. I decided on a easy watercolor background using a Everyday Tintable from Concord and 9th. These have a emboss resist background pattern and I chose the herringbone for this card. I got out my Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor set and used several of the paints to create this blue to green gradient wash background.

While that dried, I used the Flip card die and followed the easy directions on the back of the packaging, to create a Neenah 110lb Solar White card base. I accidentally scored all the way across the card base instead of just the areas around the flip portion. Luckily it didn't cause any issues, with this design. The Sloth Flip Card set also comes with some fun sentiment stamps but this time I used the die words from the Flip card die set for the Happy Birthday, I die cut those using black card stock. Before I adhered the Happy die cut, I scored a piece of light gray card stock that is trimmed to cover the flip portion of this card. This gave it a decorative border and added some interest. It also helped to conceal the score mark.

I trimmed a portion of the watercolor background down and saved the strip for the inside. I adhered the large portion of that to the front of the Flip card. Then attached the sloths over top, positioning them so it looks like they are holding up the Happy! I did the same for the backside of the sloths and the small strip of watercolor. I also used the black Kuretake watercolor paint to add some shadows to where the sloths are sitting.

Copic Markers Used:
E77, E74, W3, C1
E31, E35

Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors:
50 Pale Aqua
57 Turquoise Green
52 Ocean Green
20 Black

Thank you so much for joining me today! Happy Stamping!

Sloth Flip Card by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

I have a soft spot for the flip cards and just keep making them.  These Sloth Flip Card might be my favorite.  I always seem to say that about the newest card I make until I make another one.  I can't be the only one that does that!
I used the Flip Card Die to cut the card base, but you could follow the directions on your stamp set to make the card base yourself.  The images were stamped onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth paper with Gina K Designs Black Amalgam Ink and colored with Copic markers.  The colors used are listed at the end of this post. I was channeling my inner Sandy Allnock when I did the pile of leaves.  I masked off the bottom of the sloths and used the nibs of my markers to draw in the leaves. I used a fine tip Sharpie to draw in a very simple tree trunk above the sloths before I colored it in.
I wasn't happy with the fact that my Copic coloring could be seen from the back of the card, so I added a white layer to the back of the card. Then I added in the greetings with a Versafine Clare Nocturne Ink pad.
Copic Colors Used:
Sloth #1 - E21, E11, E31, W3, W5, W7
Sloth #2 - E31, E33, E35
Leaves - YG03, YG24, YG63, YG67
Tree Trunk - E31, E33, E35, E37, E39

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!

Here we have Niccole sharing a fun tutorial! Let's check it out!

Hello Ai fans!

I am here today making a flip card with the new Ai Flip Card Die and one of the new coordinating stamp set called Sloth Flip Card. The back of the insert of the Flip Card Die does a wonderful job explaining the die and where to place the die for cutting.

I taped my card down to my pat so it was even and then I taped my die to my paper.  It is important to make sure the die is above the 3.25 mark or your card will fold short.

As you can see it cuts it along with a scored mark for folding. That is pretty much it for the card base.  Easy peasy right?? Now on to the fun part decorating our card.

I cut two pieces of kraft paper to the specifications above.  This way it fits perfect with a small frame around it.

I colored my sloths with Copics and cut them out with my Scan N Cut.  I stamped my Thank you once in the middle and then stamped off the other two to give them a lighter view.  I added a thin stripe of gold glitter card stock along with a black and white stripped piece.  I took that same paper and cut a tiny piece to add to my sentiment block to offset it. I glued everything and added a few gold gems to finish off the front of the card.

For the inside I did pretty much the same just a different view.  Isn't it adorable that the stamp has the back sides of the sloth as well? I did add a strip of black and white to the top so it was not so plain.

Here is the side view so you can see it is still the size of an A2 card and will fit in a standard A2 envelope.

Here I am showing a back view so you can see how the flip action works. Doesn't it pack a big punch without a lot of effort with making the card?

Once again here is the finished card.Thank you so much for stopping by and I cannot wait to see what you have created using the Flip Card dies and stamps.

Until next time ... Hugs & inky fingers!

Copics used:
E00
E21, E23, E25, E27
E30, E31, E33
