Happy Retirement by Dori Mendiola

 Happy Thursday AI Friends!

My card today was inspired by the current challenge - Keep Calm and Celebrate On!  This challenge only asks you to create and enter a card/project for any type of celebration.  How easy and fun is that?  Check out the tab above - "Bi Weekly Challenge" for details.  Hope you play along for a chance to win a free stamp set.

Since I recently retired, I decided to create a Happy Retirement card.  This seems to be the year for many of us.  Finally!!  LOL!

I love making fun fold cards so this one is a twist on the standard easel card.  I call it the reverse easel.  Very simple to make!  Let's create the base first.  Cut a standard A2 card base (5 1/2 by 8 1/2) and score the long side at 2 1/8" and 4 1/4".  Fold at the 4 1/4 and opposite fold at the 2 1/8 to create a valley and a mountain fold towards you.  See card picture above.  For the background base, cut two from green cardstock (one - 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 and one - 2 x 5 3/8).  For the pattern paper, I used the 5832 Gnome Paper Pack and cut two pieces (one, 4 x 5 1/4 and one, 1 7/8 x 5 1/4).  At this point I mounted the pattern paper to the corresponding green base.  Before adhering these to the A2 card base, I used the 5223 bookmark die and placed the top part of the bookmark over the pattern paper, making sure to place the bookmark portion of the die underneath the pattern paper so that won't cut.    See Picture 1.

                        Picture 1:

Then, I partially cut the tab on the large green/pattern paper piece.  I want the tab to remain intact so to partial die cut you need to place your cutting mat only over the portion you wish to cut.  See picture 2.
As you can see, I did this upside down so make sure you put the cut edge of the die facing the cutting mat.  😞  Since I'm admitting my boo boos, I suggest you cut the tab before adhering the A2 card base.  As you can see in the picture, I adhered to the A2 base first.  You'll find it's easier to cut through without the A2 card base plus it won't make an indent into your card base.

                        Picture 2:

Okay, now that the base is done, let's go to the image.  I used the 5186 Enjoy the Ride stamp set.  I love this fun little couple and their dog, but I especially love the lady drinking her coffee with her feet up.  No help from her!  My husband says that is exactly why we'll never own a tandem bike.  LOL!
He knows me too well!

I stamped the image on copic friendly paper and colored with my copic markers listed below.  I stamped the sentiment, from the 5187 Happy Trails set, into a rounded shape by curving onto my stamping platform.  I used the two largest dies from the 5727 Nested Oval dies to cut the image and also the pink frame.  I adhered the bottom half to the folded part of the card and tucked it into the tab for display.  I added some enamel dots and a bow and it's ready to go.

I hope you enjoyed my card today and it inspired you to join the challenge.

Have a great day and keep creating!

Happy Retirement Card by Tasha!

 Happy Friday Ai Fans!

Tasha here sharing a retirement card created with the 4900-Reel Great Guys Set and the 5187-Happy Trails Set!

I started by stamping the cute little doggie image and colored him with Copic Markers. This dog looks so happy and relaxed, perfect for a retirement card!

To complete the scene, I stamped palm trees from the Happy Trails Set and ink blended the sky and water. A white gel pen was used to add highlights and waves; I love the sparkle on the tube!

Lastly, I added layers of yellow, blue, and gold glitter paper before adding the card to a white card base.

I hope you enjoyed this retirement card and are having a great day!

Happy Retirement Card by Tasha

 Good morning Ai Fans!

Tasha here sharing a retirement card created with the Ai 5187-Happy Trails Set! This stamp set is so cute and I love the camper stamp!

For this scene I started by stamping the camper with black ink and colored the images and background with Copic Markers. On a separate sheet of paper, I stamped the man and after I cut the image out, I used foam tape to attach him to the card. I also colored the white areas to match the background.

The greeting "Happy Retirement!" was stamped in black directly ion the colored grass. The simple sentiment goes with the relaxing vibe of this card.

Lastly, I added layers of red cardstock to coordinate with the red in the camper and a layer of check pattern paper to complete the design.

This card measures 4-1/4"x5-1/2" (A2).

Thank you so much for checking out today's project and I hope you are inspired to create a card with the Ai 5187-Happy Trails Set!

Gone Fishing! by Reneé Matarese

 Hello Ai fans!

This summer I had a request for a camping themed card.
My cousin camps all summer long and really wanted a lot on the water.
One of the camp employees went above and beyond to help her with that
and she wanted to thank her.

I used 5187 – Happy Trails Set to represent Mike and Joann.
The sailboat is from the 5325 – Sail Mini Dies.  They love to sit on the
dock and look at the lake so I tried to recreate that scene. My card
fits with the Lions, Tigers, Bears, OH MY! current challenge at Art Impression.
Any crafty project with an animal on it.  I used a dog and fish.  What will you create?

Joann LOVES to fish and so I used the 4900 – Reel Great Guys Set to make the sign
and fish bucket then I used AiCS38 – Doggy Kisses Set because
they have a boxer named Darcy.
I tried to make the dog look like her.

Happy Camper Slimline Card by Jil Lebel

Hello Ai fans!

I used the Happy Camper stamp set to make a slimline card. My family had a very similar camper when I was growing up.  We traveled around the United States for two weeks every summer.
I started by stamping the images onto Spectrum Noir Ultra Smooth card stock with Gina K Black Amalgam ink and colored them with Copic markers.  The colors I used will be listed at the end of this post.   After that I stamped the images onto masking paper I cut them out on the black line and placed them over the images.
I added the Distress inked background over the masks with a mini  ink dabbers and the foam pads.  I used Tea Dye for the sand and Tumbled Glass for the sky.  I splattered the entire layer with water droplets and let it dry for about 30 seconds before I remove it with a dry paper towel. I removed the masks and revealed the finished layer.  I added some dots and shadows with my Copic markers.
Copic Colors Used:
Skin - E000, E00, E11
Hair - C1, C3, C5
Purple - V04, V06, V09
Blue - B91, B95, B97
Green - YG03, YG97, G99
Chairs - W3, W1
Tree Truns - E31, E35, E37
Camper - E000, E000, E32, E35, E37

Thanks for stopping by and Have a Great Day!
