Let's take a look at these unique projects featuring beautiful outdoors scenes!

Hello Friends,

I made this floral card using Art Impression's stamps for the Watercolor Weekend. First I stamped the two pots from the 4870 - WC Ornate Container Set after inking them in 969 and then 565 and stamping them off on a piece of scratch paper. I then pulled the color out of the lines. I used No. 93 aubergine to watercolor the decorations on the pots. I placed a mask on the one pot, then used the stamp positioner to stamp the stool from the 5055 - WC Sitting Places Set (using the 969 then 565) under the pot. Next, I watercolored the stool in with No. 105 lt. teal. I used 177 and 249 to stamp in the greenery from the 4867 - WC Foliage Set 2 and 5126 - Foliage Set 4. I used the 565 to stamp in the blue foliage. I used No. 93 to stamp in the flowers from the 4052 - Flower Set and then touched them with a wet brush. I stamped the branches in 969 from the 4964 - WC Branches Set. I stamped the small grass in 177 from the 4051 - Foliage Set around the pot and stool and the pulled the color up and out. I added shadows and sky with 565 and then green 177 from the palette. I took a Sakura Gelly Roll pen and added glitter which you can't see in the first picture but you can see it in this picture below. The glitter adds the most beautiful touch! Try it, if you haven't already. I cut out my image with the 5062 - Rounded Corner Rectangle die.

Using a larger block, I positioned both my cabin from 4962 -WC Rustic Cabins Set and the rowboat from 5057 - WC Boat Set, as this allows me to determine the right placement. I coloured them with my #969 Chocolate Tombow marker, then pulled out the colour with my damp #1 brush (this smaller paintbrush is amazing for scenes like this that are on a smaller scale!). Using a post-it note, I masked the cabin and coloured up both trees from the 5010 - WC Tree Set 1 with #249 Hunter Green. I did some second generation stamping behind the cabin to suggest some trees in the background. Now I took my pencil and sketched in the hills, shoreline, mountains and lake. With #992 Sand, I painted in the pathway and sandy shore, and used it to paint the boards and roof of the cabin. With the tiny greenery in 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set and my #158 Dark Olive marker, I added some bushes around the cabin, and tufts of grass with the small grass from 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1. With a wash of #158, I painted in the grassy foreground. I used the tiny cluster of rocks from the 5128 - As The Deer Set from the Bible Journaling collection, and my #N57 Warm Grey to stamp different clusters of rocks along the shore. I scribbled #565 Deep Blue onto my Palette, and picked it up with my #4 paintbrush, painting in the mountains and water. I went in with a second darker layer of the 565 to add shadows around the rocks, boat, cabin and trees to give a little depth to my scene. Finally, I mixed the #249(green) and #565(blue) to create the shade used to paint the far away line of trees. I used #837 Wine Red to add colour to the boat & chimney, with a touch of #991 Light Ochre on the oars. With a wash of #451 Sky Blue I painted in the sky. To finish, I used my sewing machine to run a line of stitching around the scene, matted it on grey, and adhered it to my base with pop dots.

Hi Watercolor Fans! Welcome back to Art Impressions watercolor weekend. For my project this week, I was inspired by a painting I had seen with boats. I knew I could re-create it with my watercolor stamps, so that is just what I did. Let me tell you how I created my Simple Boats project.

Simple Boats Tutorial
1. I used the small boat from the 5057 – WC Boat Set and inked it up with Chocolate. I stamped it off a couple of times so I could get a really light impression. I wanted this boat to be really light so it would appear to be further away from the other boats. Using my stamp positioner, I positioned it in the upper right corner.
2. With my brush, I pulled the color out of the lines. I added some additional Chocolate from my palette to the areas I wanted to be the darkest.
3. Next I inked the medium boat with Chocolate. I stamped it off once to get a light impression but not a light as the first boat. I decided to use my positioner so I could get them exactly where I wanted them. I added this boat in the middle to the left of my paper. I pulled the color out of the lines and again added some additional Chocolate to the darkest areas. I also added a darker shadow under the oars.
4. I inked up the larger boat with Chocolate and wiped off the bottom. I wanted it to look like it was sitting in the water. I stamped it and pulled the color out of the lines. I added Chocolate to the darkest areas.
5. I added True Blue, Asparagus, Hunter Green, Process Blue, Deep Blue and Jet Blue to my palette. I added color to each of the boats. I brushed in the water by building up the color slowly making sure to leave lots of white space. I made sure I used softer colors in the background gradually getting darker as I moved toward the front. I added darker shadows beneath each of the boats.
6. I added darker lines at the top where the horizon line would be. I added the mountain with Jet Blue. A light wash of Process Blue to create some clouds. Last but not least, I signed it
7. Using my MISTI, I stamped the sentiment “It’s the simple things” using Gina K Designs Amalgam Ink.
8. I cut it out using the Rectangle Stitched Dies. I added it to Gina K Designs Blue Denim card stock and adhered it to a Neenah Solar White card base.

This was really a lot of fun to put together. I hope you will challenge yourself to recreate something beautiful you see.

Hello, Ai Fans! Halloween is just around the corner, and we are here with more harvest inspiration for you today! Let's take a look at the super creative projects our Watercolor Guest Design Team has crafted!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

Who doesn't love a tree house? My son Scott has been promising to build my granddaughters a tree house and I know they would love it! I created this card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend using the tree from the brand new 5056 - WC Fairy Doors Set and a cabin from the 4963 - WC Rustic Cabins Set. The pine trees in the background are from the 5010 - WC Tree Set 1. The flowers are from the 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set. I drew the ladder in using the sepia marker.

Other Supplies: Canson Watercolor Paper.

There’s something lurking in the dark in my Watercolor Weekend project. It’s simply SPOOKTACULAR!

Tape off a 3” x 3” square on your watercolor paper. Stamp the pumpkins from WC Harvest Set with a combination of 49 Vermilion and 88 Terra Cotta with the stems in 45 Sepia. Mask off the pumpkins with Post-It Notes then stamp the tree from WC Fairy Doors Set in 86 African Violet. Draw in the ghost eyes with watermark pen, add glow in the dark embossing powder then heat with your heat gun. Stamp in the leaves from WC Foliage Set 1 in 86 African Violet. Watercolor the Art Impressions way by pulling the color from the lines with water and a paint brush. Stamp in the grass from WC Foliage Set 1 in 86 African Violet. Darken up any lines on the tree and pumpkin using the fine tip of your markers.

Hi Art Impressions Fans and welcome to watercolor weekend. I wanted to embrace the beauty that is Fall with this easy Autumn Church project. I shared it on Instagram when I spent the whole day water coloring...YAY me!

I started off by inking the sitting boy in Brownish Grey. I stamped him in the middle of the page. Just like all of our projects start, I pulled the color out of the lines. I added some Steel Blue to his jeans, Sepia to his hair and Pale Pink to his skin, all from my palette.

Then, I cut a mask and covered him to protect him while I stamped the rocks (Sitting Things set) he is sitting on. Using my positioner, I stamped the rocks underneath the boy (inked with Sepia and African Violet). I used my palette to add a blend of Sepia and African Violet to add color to the rocks.
Next, I stamped a branch from the Branches set. Using my fine tip of my Sepia marker I extended the base of the branch to create a tree. I added some details with Brown and Olive Brown from the palette.
For the church, I inked it with Sepia and stamped it in the top right corner. I pulled the color out of the lines and added some additional Sepia to the roof and African Violet to the building. Once it was dry I added some darker lines with the fine tip of my Sepia marker. The post it tape serves as a quick mask over the church so I could stamp the trees from the Churches set inked in Sepia.
The leaves were all created with the small foliage from the Foliage Set 2. I inked it in English Red, Orange, Brilliant Yellow and Olive Green. I stamped it in several areas with each color to create a random fall scene. Adding some to the ground gives the effect of falling leaves. This is a favorite technique of mine for Autumn.
Once the leaves were stamped where I wanted them, I added some of the small grasses around the tree, rocks and church. I also added some Olive Green sporadically around the middle of the scene. To finish the scene, I added a small amount of Prussian Blue to the sky.

I hope you like this quaint Autumn Scene and I hope you will join me and the rest of the AI watercolor guest design team! Happy Watercoloring!!

Thanks, team! What fun techniques! Dot, we love how you mixed and matched different sets to create a treehouse! How unique! And Tricia K, your glow in the dark eyes in your spooky forest are just too cute, and sure to surprise your recipient! Tricia O, the way you created a larger autumn scene with the boy in the foreground and church in the background is simply lovely! Thank you for your beautiful creations this week. Makes us excited for the next Watercolor Weekend already!

Be sure to leave some comment love for the team, we love to hear what you think!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I am still dreaming of being on the ocean so I created this card using the cottage from 4606 - Cottage by the Beach for the bi-monthly Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend Roundup. I added little flower boxes under the windows and made the tiny flowers by using the fine tips of the Marvy LePlume II pens and then adding a tiny bit of water. I used the small grass stamp from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set and the tiny dot flowers from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set for the flowers in front. I spread some liquid glue and then added real sand to make the beach.

Other Supplies: Ranger Watercolor paper.

My project for today’s Watercolor Weekend, “On the Ledge”, is a beautiful summer floral card.

Stamp the siding from the WC Wall Texture Set in Sepia using your Stamp Positioner, flip everything and stamp again, now you have long siding which becomes the ledge. Watercolor the Art Impressions way by pulling the color from the lines. Scribble a little Sepia onto your palette and brush onto the siding to create wood. Use the Sepia fine tip to darken up any lines especially the top. Stamp the four containers from Small Container Set and Wishing Well Mini Set, two in Sepia and two using a combination of Sepia and African Violet for a steel grey color. Add Sepia and African Violet onto your palette and brush onto the watering can and pail. Scribble Olive Brown and Eggplant onto your palette adding Olive Brown to the second pot and Eggplant to the fourth pot. Draw line details onto the fourth pot with the fine tip of Eggplant. Mask off the containers using a post-it note. Add foliage and flowers to the containers from Foliage Set 3, Foliage Set 2, Mini Flower SetFlower Set 2, and Foliage Set 1 using Olive GreenBrilliant Yellow, Iris Purple, Pine Green, and African Violet. Add dot detail to the yellow flowers with Brilliant Yellow and the pink flowers using Iris Purple

I wanted to create watercolor that resembled our garage (I use that term lightly lol) at our property in Vermont. It’s a small garage that is set in the woods.

I first started with the small structure. I removed the windows and chimney. I hand drew in the doors in the front. Using my watercolor palette, I colored it with Sepia, Mocha and a small amount of Steel Blue for a rustic look. I added a small amount of English Red to the door (because it is red in real life, LOL). I masked it off and stamped the branches in the background. I added a small amount of water to extend the bottom to make it look more like a tree. I then used the leaves and vine from the original Foliage set inked in Olive Green. I softened them with water.

Next I used the cobblestones inked in Sepia and African Violet. I used my stamp positioner to get them where I wanted them. I used my brush and water to soften the lines around the cobblestones. I added small grass around the front of the structure, below the trees and around the cobblestones. I softened the lines with water. I added some more Sepia and African Violet for some additional color around the cobblestones. I used the tree to the right with the Fir tree top inked in Pine Green. I added some Steel Blue from my palette to the sky.

I cut the piece down and adhered it to a card base made from Gina K Design Asparagus cardstock.

This was such a fun and easy project. I would love to see what you come up with. Thanks for joining us for another Watercolor Weekend!!

Thanks, team! Love the variety of projects you have created for summer scenes! Thanks for hanging out with us for another Weekend Roundup, we'll see you next time! Happy Stamping!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Blue Skies!

Hello, Ai Watecolor fans! Today we're celebrating blue skies with two beautiful projects! Take a look and be inspired by what our designers have in store for you!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I always dream of being near a sandy beach and the ocean during the summer time. I wonder if others feel that way, too? So I made a scene by an ocean using a cabin from the 4962 - WC Rustic Cabins Set. I just sort of penciled in the rocky wall, trail and shore line then watercolored them using my palette. I used the Molotow 2.0mm masking liquid to leave some white space where my flowers would be. After it dried, I used the foliage from 5009 - WC Mini Flower Set to add the leaves, wiped off the masking liquid then painted in the little flowers. I used part of the fence from the 5011 - WC Truck Mini Set. I used the kite from the 4606 - Cottage by the Beach Set to add that whimsical touch it needed.

My project for today’s Watercolor Weekend incorporates a Watercolor Resist technique to create a Silhouette Scene. It’s a quick, easy, fun and totally different way to use your Art Impressions Watercolor Stamps.

Stamp the pail, bird, flowers and grass onto the watercolor paper in embossing ink. Add embossing powder and set with a heat gun. Scribble a little Olive Green and Salvia Blue onto your palette. Brush Olive Green in for the ground and Salvia Blue for the sky. Add several layers of color for depth and dimension. Be sure to take the color all the way up to, over and around the stamped/embossed image (I kept the pail completely white by not adding any color inside those lines). Use a paper towel to buff off the stamped/embossed lines once the color has dried.

After a recent visit to Foxwoods in CT, with my Mother In Law, I was inspired by some of the beautiful flower arrangements they had.

I drew the large square vase with a ruler and my 45 Sepia marker. I softened the lines and added some additional 45 Sepia from my Watercolor Palette. I covered the bottom of the vase and stamped the cobblestone from the 5018 – WC Cobblestone Set below it inked in 45 Sepia. Next I added a couple of leaves from the 4867 – WC Foliage Set 2 on each side inked in 72 Pine Green. I inked up the top of the larger vine from the 5007 – WC Foliage Set 3 in 15 Olive Green and stamped it in front of the vase. To create the sticks at the top, I inked up one of the trees from the birch trees in the 4808 – Covered Bridge Mini Set in 45 Sepia. I repeated that process with another birch tree. I inked up one of the branches from the in 45 Sepia. To add a bit of color, I used the daisy bunch from the 4052 – WC Flower Set 1 inked up with 20 Magenta. I added them sporadically around the vase. I added some additional greens with 15 Olive Green using one of the vines from 5007 – WC Foliage Set 3. To add a background I used my Watercolor Palette and 3 Blue.

I hope you will join me and the other guest designers for Watercolor Weekend! We can’t wait to see your projects. Tag us and use the #AIWatercolor so we can see what you have come up with. Have a great weekend!!!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Love In the Air

Hello, Ai Fans! Our winter break from Watercolor Wednesdays is almost over, and our Watercolor Guest Design Team is excited to show you some wonderful winter-y and love-y watercolor projects! From friendship cards to love notes, and even masculine tags, we got you covered this week!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

I'm happy to share this card I made for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend roundup. I have puppies on the brain since my granddaughters both got puppies for Christmas. I plan to make similar cards for them for Valentine's day. I used the 4959 - WC Dogs Set, the 4873 - WC Cats set and 4965 - WC Bench set. I used the basket from the Exclusive for 2017 Garden Set. You can only get the exclusive sets by attending the classes at the shows. I wonder what the exclusive set for 2018 will be? Two of the flowers were from 4052 - WC Flower Set 1 and two more flowers were from 4868 - WC Flower Set 2. The grass and leaves are from the 4051 - WC Foliage Set 1 and the set 4763 - Southwest. I used a Wink of Stella pen to add glitter to the flowers. The sentiment is from the In The Air Set - 4753.

My project for today’s Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend, “Love Bird”, will help you get a jump on your Valentine’s cards.

Begin by stamping the bird onto a mirror stamp or even acetate. Position the stamped image, press down and transfer the stamped image onto the watercolor paper. Then stamp the bird using your Stamp Positioner next to mirror stamped bird. Next, stamp the daisy bunch from 4052 WC Flower Set 1 in 2 Red and 66 Dusty Pink in a heart shape and fill in with the leafy branch from 4867 WC Foliage Set 2 in 15 Olive Green. Pull the color from the lines on the foliage and flowers using your Watercolor Brush No. 4 and water. Onto the birds, use the Watercolor Brush No. 1 to pull the color. Darken any lines with the fine tip of 45 Sepia. Scribble a little 2 Red onto your Watercolor Paletteand brush onto the chest of the birds. Finish with a little bling for that extra sparkle!

I used my stamp positioner to place my Rustic Cottage to the middle of the tag. I inked it up using African Violet on the roof and Sepia on the rest of the cottage. In order to protect the cottage, I used a post-it note mask while I stamped the birch trees (inked with Sepia and a little African Violet) behind it. Once again, I used the stamp positioner to place it perfectly.
Once the stamping was complete, I removed the mask and using my paintbrush and water I pulled color from between the trees into the background and sky. I let some of the paint in the sky dry and then came back in with additional water for some hard edges.
I pulled color from the edges of the roof (that were inked with African Violet) to create the illusion of a snowy roof. Then, I pulled the Sepia from the cottage and added some additional Sepia and a mixture of Sepia and African Violet (creates a nice gray) from my palette and added it in lines to create a worn wood look.
Using my palette, I added some African Violet to create some snow underneath the trees and next to the cottage. I added some Prussian Blue to create a stream. You will notice I wasn't too worried about the right had side of the piece as I am going to die cut this out and that will be cut off.
On one of the tags, I used the small fir top to create some pine trees using Pine Green.
