Happy Dance Window Card by Lynn Dionne

Happy Wednesday Ai Fans!!!

Watch video tutorial here!!!

Today we will be creating a fun birthday window card using the Ai Perfect Duet Set (4999). To set the scene for our dancers we will be using the Ai Valentines Journal Paper Pack. We will use the pretty plaid for the front of our card and the happy little hearts paper for the inside of the card. Let's die cut these panels using the Ai Rectangle A2 Double Stitched Dies Set (5063). We can also die cut just a small portion of some of the pinkish/red paper for the floor in our scene.

Next we can stamp and color the couple and the boom box! All of today's coloring was done using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in the following colors: Blender, Flesh Colour, Sugared Almond Pink, Wine Red, Haze Blue, Aquamarine Blue, Emerald Green, Lt Gray, Gray Brown, Mid Brown, Beige.

Now let's go to the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543) and grab the window frame die. We can die cut this frame from the front of the card panel and the plaid paper at the same time. I'll show you a little trick for getting this to line up perfectly! Remember to die cut an extra window frame for the inside of your card.

Now we can cut a piece of acetate to the size of the card and tape it to the front of the card. Now let's add the plaid paper over the top of the acetate. Also, add the frame to the front of the card and add the second frame to the inside of the card. This will hide the adhesive nicely!

Next we can add a sentiment for the front of the card which says "Get your happy on!" and a sentiment for the inside which says "You don't stop dancing when you get old...you get old when you stop dancing!". These sentiments are from the Ai Be Happy Laugh Lines Set (5279). We will die cut theses two sentiments using the banner die from the Ai Journal Template Die Set (5543). I'll show you a fun trick for using this smaller die for your larger sentiment!

Let's go ahead and do the final assembly and then add a few pretty pink pastel hearts to the front of the card!

A Pair of Birthday wishes by Reneé Matarese

Hello Ai fans!
Today I'm sharing 2 birthday cards with you.
My first card has a boom box from 4999 – Perfect Duet Set.

The verse that I think pairs so well with it is from the new Laugh Lines Set called Rock On.

My second card was made using the from the Matchbook series.

I used the 5319 – MB Birthday Set as well as a couple of pieces from the 5097 – HM Birthday Set.

My friend was so excited when I gave this to her.  She couldn't believe how small and adorable it is!

You need a couple of starter sets when you begin getting hooked on the Matchbooks...and you will...lol.
The first is the 5317 – MB Template Dies. This set forms the room that you'll attach all the little pieces to.

There's an easel on the back to help it stand up.  Double sided papers are great for these sets because you will see the outside as well as the inside.

There's also a 5318 – MB Envelope Dies set to create the perfect little envelope for your room.

I Love Rock & Roll! by Reneé Matarese

Hello Ai fans!

What do you make when you have a request for a birthday card for a 14 year old who loves 80's music? A rock & roll shaker card of course, complete with boom box!

I used the super fun 5808 – 5pk Snow Globe Shaker Dome.
Inside the dome, I used the radio from 4999 Perfect Duet Set (Retired)

On the inside of her card I used 5866 – Mini Birthday Sentiment Set
and 5562 – Journal Letter Die Set to spell out I LOVE ROCK AND ROLL.
Think Joan Jett!

The border die on the front and on the inside is from
5543 – Journal Template Die Set

It's a Love Thing - Retracting Reveal Card by Janet

Hi everyone! It's Janet here and I have a retracting reveal card for you today. I really enjoy creating interactive cards. Engineering the elements to pop up, lift and move is very satisfying! I have used a fan favorite set, 4752-Love Thing Set. All the patterned paper is from the 5741-Valentines Paper Pack. After coloring, I cut the image out using the largest square die from the 5061-Square Double Stitched Dies

This card starts flat as shown below. You'd never know it holds several interactive surprises from its unassuming starting position.

When the strings are pulled at the top, the front retracts to reveal a hidden message. My hearts are cut from the 5721-Nested Heart Dies Set. I cut a heart in the white card base and cut another out in red cardstock. Then I filled the negative space by inlaying the red heart. This way I could add color and a shape to the hidden message without creating another layer of cardstock that would catch on the sliding mechanism. I heat embossed the set's sentiment with white embossing powder before I inlaid it into the card base. I used the smallest heart in the die set to decorate the bottom of the card.

Pulling the strings lifts up the cute couple so that it stands and takes center stage. But that's not all! When the string is pulled, it reveals another message on the tag as it's pulled out. This sentiment is from 4999-Perfect Duet. This is also where I would write my message to the recipient. There's plenty of room since the tag will pull out an additional 1 1/2". Tip: If you don't want the ink from the colored image to show as it does on mine, sandwich another piece of white cardstock behind it before gluing it to the lift-up mechanism.

I hope you enjoyed seeing this card. If you would like to learn how to make this style of card, leave a comment. If there's enough interest, I'll do a video tutorial on it.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you'll stop by the store soon for all your card making needs.

Wishing you a very crafty day!
