Keep on Growing by Janet Axtman

Happy Saturday and welcome to the Ai blog! One of the cutest new sets for spring is called 5798 - Gardening Girlfriends Set. It has several images and sentiments. I've been looking forward to using this set because the ladies in it are so cute. Also there are several stand-alone accessories such as an apron, pitcher, and hat. I cut out the circle from alcohol friendly cardstock with 5064 - Circle Double Stitched Dies. I stamped the image of the lady and added flowers to the pots using 4868 - WC Flower Set 2.

I was lacking a little inspiration for how to lay my card out so I went to some card sketches I keep handy and decided to try this one. If you ever feel stuck, card sketches can really help you out because of their tried and true nature. For my patterned cardstock, I used 5892 - Easter S2 PP. I just added solid coordinating cardstock for the card base and sentiment strip. I used 5725 - Nested Square Dies and 5724 Nested Rectangle Dies to cut the mats behind the circle. I stamped the sentiment on a strip of darker blue cardstock and matted it with some leftover striped cardstock used for the mat. A few blue glitter enamel dots finishes this one off nicely.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope my card gives you some ideas of your own. Please visit the store to see all the things you need for your card, journal, and tag making projects. Have a GREAT Saturday!

Hello,

I made this card made for the Art Impression's Watercolor Weekend. I just love this raccoon from the 4208 - Furries TF set and doesn't he look like he's startled or forgotten a birthday? I stamped the raccoon and then I stamped a mask for him on post-it tape, cut it out and covered him up. I then used my Misti to stamp the bench in 969 from the 5066 - Light to my Path set in the perfect spot. I pulled the color out of the lines then got to watercoloring the raccoon with 969, N25, and 565. I colored the bench with 379.  I used 993 for the light and even colored around the outside of the light with it. Next, I stamped the foliage in 228 from the 5126 - WC Foliage Set 4 - both the vines and the grass. I pulled the color out of the lines then I added the flower in 177 and 743 from the 4868 - WC Flower Set 2. I used 177 on the palette to watercolor between the stones. I used 565 to watercolor the sky, the shadows under the bench and under the raccoon. I used a fine tip black marker to add some details back into the raccoon. I cut out my scene and background piece of paper using the 5062 - Rounded Rectangle Double Stitched Dies.

Thank you for checking out my blog!  You can find more of my cards on my Instagram account here

I started by die cutting my Canson XL Watercolour Paper with one of the 5062 - Rounded Rectangle Double Stitched Dies, and then I selected my colour palette of Tombow Dual Brush markers.  I began by scribbling #991 Light Ochre onto my palette, and picked it up with a very wet #6 paintbrush, creating a background wash.  I dropped in touches of #947 Burnt Sienna to add a little warmth.  I took all three of the pine tree stamps from 5010 - WC Tree Set 1, and coloured them in varying shades of #098 Avocado#177 Dark Jade and #249 Hunter Green, making some 2-toned.  I stamped them to look like a forested hillside, doing second and third generation stamping to create some trees in the background.  Using a damp #1 paintbrush, I went over the tree boughs to blend the colours, and then pulled out the colour to pool below the trees, adding more colour where necessary to have the colours drip & blend together.  I picked up a watery brush full of #493 Reflex Blue and dropped a few bits of colour around the scene where needed.  I purposefully kept a lighter area in the center of my scene, and after my background was dry, I stamped the quote from 5127 - Build My Life Set using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  I spattered a little black paint around, and then using a black fine point marker, I drew in the birds in the upper left corner.  On my creamy cardstock base, I blended some Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink, then mounted a piece of kraft cardstock cut 1/8" larger than my scene.  I added 3D adhesive squares to my panel and adhered it to the card base.

Welcome back watercolor fans to another Art Impressions watercolor weekend!  This week I decided to create this cute little Mushroom Fairy by combining my Butterfly stamp set with the Elves stamp set.  I love when I can stretch my stamps.  What can you make by combining your stamps?

Project Details

I started off by inking up the sleeping elf from the Elves stamp set in 969.  I stamped it off and then stamped it on the right side of the watercolor paper.  Next, I inked up the closed butterfly from the Butterfly stamp set and stamped it onto my stamp positioner.  I rubbed off the body of the butterfly. I lined it up on top of the sleeping elf and stamped it to make the elf into a fairy.  I pulled the color out of the lines.
From my watercolor palette, I added color to the elf and to the wings using Pink, Blue, and Yellow.  I made sure a hit of the top of the elf showed through the wings.   Next, I inked up the mushroom from the Elves set with 969.  I, again, used my stamp positioner to place the mushroom next to the fairy.
I added the window and door from the Hobbit Door set using my positioner.  I pulled the color out of the lines and added some additional 606 to the mushroom.  I added some additional 969 to darken areas on the mushroom.  I added some grasses (from the original foliage set and foliage set 3) inked up with 177.  I pulled the color up and out of the lines.  Lastly, I added some 565 to my palette and painted a sky behind the mushroom.
I signed and dated my project.

Card Details

I cut my Mushroom Fairy out with a rectangle stitched die.  I glued it to a Gina K Designs Edible Eggplant card stock mat.  I glued that to a Neenah Solar White card panel.
Thank you so much for spending some time with me today.  I hope you will look at your new light.  Try something different, you will be glad you did!

Thank you, ladies, for your continued inspiration! We absolutely love seeing everyone's personal style show through on each card!
Happy Stamping!

Circle Water Color Card by ReneƩ Matarese

Hello Ai fans!

Today I'm sharing a water color card with you.

I used

I've been stamping for about 12 years now and have loved Art Impressions since the beginning.  I am still very new to water color cards though.  I'm really trying to make more of them because I know I won't get any better if I don't practice.

I still look at hundreds of other card makers and think theirs are SO much better but I'm not embarrassed to share mine anymore.  Baby steps...lol!

Hello! Shaped Watercolor Card by Carol Hintermeier

Hello Ai Fans!

I am so excited and thrilled beyond words to be making my first post as an Art Impressions Design Team member!!!

For my first post, I thought it very fitting to say "Hello!" to you all by using a few of my watercolor stamps (yep, I have quite a lovely collection of them!).  I live in an area that is fortunate to have two of the big crafts shows nearby and Art Impressions is at both!  For a few years, I watched Bonnie Krebs demo in their booth and for the longest time thought that I could never do that!  Finally, in 2015, I took an Ai watercolor class at the Scrapbook EXPO and was totally hooked!!!  If you watch Bonnie's videos and hear her say, "you can do this," it's true!!!!  Go to Ai's YouTube channel and find some of the earlier videos to get started--anyone can do this!!  Can you tell I'm a fan?  LOL!

I created a circular card and died some ribbon to get a perfect match!

Here's how I died the ribbon.  Scribble your marker, spritz with a bit of water, and dunk it in.  I blotted this one onto a paper towel to lighten the intensity of the color.  Let it dry and it's ready to use.

I added a little tag with "hello" stamped onto it.

Thank you so much for stopping by!!  Happy stamping!

Watercolor Weekend Roundup - Friendship Blooms!

Hello, Ai Watercolor Fans! Today we have three fabulous projects to share, featuring gorgeous florals. Our friends Dot and Tricia O. have paired a friendship sentiment with their card, while Tricia K. framed her poppies for a perfect gift!

Hello Watercolor Friends,

Spring has surely arrived for most of us and I made a Spring birthday card for the Art Impressions Watercolor Weekend roundup. A friend gave me the heart shaped balloon. I used eight stamp sets and nine markers to create it. See my list of supplies below:

Marvy LePlume II Markers: 45 Sepia15 Olive Green72 Pine Green55 Iris Purple75 Sky Blue, 70 Peppermint, 35 Coral Pink, 52 Yellow Green, 62 Wisteria
Other Supplies: Canson Watercolor Paper

Just three stamps and four markers were used to create my pretty “Poppy Painting” for today’s Watercolor Weekend project. I watercolored the Art Impressions Way by stamping the container from WC Containers in African Violet, then the foliage from WC Foliage Set 2 in Olive Green and finally the long-stemmed flowers from Watering Can in English Red and Olive Green (I added a few more buds by just stamping the single top flower several times). To achieve the “poppy” look, I placed a small black dot with the fine tip of Black into the center of each flower making sure to leave a little white space too.

Lately I have really been into creating watercolor projects that have a frame of some kind in the design. I decided to share one for Watercolor Weekend that is really simple to achieve. It only requires 3 stamps and 3 markers. You can use a shaped die or really anything you have around the house to use as a template. This project can also be used for any occasion, just stamp the sentiment you need. Don’t have an occasion yet, leave it blank until you need one, then you will have a card ready to go at a moment’s notice.

I traced a square lightly on my watercolor paper using my stitched square die with a pencil. Then, I used 2 flowers from the new 5008 – WC Flower Set 3 inked with 20 Magenta and 15 Olive Green and the small leaves from the new 5007 – WC Foliage Set 3 also inked with 15 Olive Green. I used the square as a guide to where I wanted to place my flowers. I used the 40 Brownish Grey on my palette to create the square.

If you would like to see how I created this card, come check out the video on my YouTube channel. I hope you will join us for Watercolor Weekend and share your projects with us using #AIWatercolor.

We hope you'll get a chance to make and mail a card to one of your friends this weekend! Happy Stamping!

NEW VIDEO - Wooden Gate & Flower Pots Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a NEW Watercolor Wednesday!

This week, Bonnie transforms our Wooden Gate in to an adorable scene with overgrown flowers, decorative pots, and two sweet robins. Bonnie starts by partially inking our Wooden Gate and pulling the color out of the lines. She uses her Stamp Positoner to place our Small Containers on the ground and post of the gate, adding color to them from her Palette. Next, she adds vines, flowers, buds, and branches around the image, from the right post to the blooming pots. For a final touch, she adds two robins from our WC Bird Bath Set, singing their morning songs among the blossoms!

We hope you enjoy this week's video! We love to see your creations, so don't forget to hashtag #AiStamps on Instagram or Facebook!

Happy Watercolor Wednesday!

NEW VIDEO - Bird Bath & Branch Watercolor

Hello Ai Fans!

Welcome to a new Watercolor Wednesday! This week, Bonnie uses our brand NEW sets from our first week of Summer watercolor releases! She created this image with our Bird Bath Set to create an adorable scene with tiny birds on the branch and resting by the water. Bonnie starts by stamping the birdbath image and pulling the colors from the lines and adding patches of grass on either side. She then masks the main image with a sticky note and adds three colors of tiny blooms from our WC Flower Set 2. She uses our new WC Branches Set to create the limb and stamped the vine for the leaves. Bonnie then places the two birds with our Stamp Positioner and adds color from her WC Palette.

We hope you enjoy our NEW releases, with the first five sets officially launching September 14, and the second five sets on September 21! We will have many new videos on our latest additions, so make sure to add them to your collection so you can start watercoloring right away!
